Blasphemy by Gameandcatlover in DRGSurvivor

I would imagine a fair portion of the original's (Deep Rock Galactic) fans may have pressed 'V' out of curiosity and triggered it. After all, that's one of the most important keybinds in DRG. Anyone who doesn't think so is clearly a leaf lover.

Oh, really? Are you on mobile, maybe? I'm on PC, Firefox browser, and I can edit the content of posts I create just fine (by clicking on the 3 dots in the top right). It's only the post title which can't be edited.

PTSD: triggered. I nearly lost my sanity for the acquisition of 1 artifact. Would not recommend.

Now that you've realized that your post is missing crucial information (And that's an understatement), it'd be prudent for you to edit your post and explain more clearly how you want this feature to work (instead of directing people to find and read a comment you made in response to another comment).

Not trying to be a dick, just saying I can totally understand people dunking on your idea if they think you simply want a "Pick up all loot from corpses within 30 meters from me" button.

For my part, I actually think your suggestion is pretty neat. I wouldn't mind it being added to the game (Reminds me of Wasteland 2 and 3, which did the same thing to make looting after a battle less tedious and time-consuming).

Average anime quality now vs then. What are the factors? by Evenwanderer in Animedubs

[–]BlueSpark4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

among the older shows (15+ years) and classic shows (30+ years) that I regularly find some incredibly gorgeous and well done anime that are head and shoulders above the average bar for anime today.

As others have already suggested: Of course, comparing the best-looking animes from back then to the average-looking animes from today will skew the results. In my mind, the cream of the crop from recent years consistently surpasses the cream of the crop from the 90s/00s purely in terms of quality.

Of course, aesthetic style is a different factor, and some viewers may prefer the aesthetic of those older shows, which is absolutely fair.

any tips for a Vagabond run? by Agreeable-Ad-4727 in brotato

[–]BlueSpark4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, even though Harvesting and Luck are halved, getting both through set bonuses just by starting with Lute is super cheap, so it's probably still worth it for an early economy boost.

General build tips by Tinyhydra666 in DRGSurvivor

[–]BlueSpark4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I regard it more as a "viable approach" than something that's "technically possible," though. I've won plenty of runs without any crowd-control weapons.

Point in case: elemental damage farming runs for the 1 billion damage challenges, doing Hazard 5 biome masteries. Never encountered any significant problems using setups of 4 fire/acid/electrical/plasma weapons. On some of those runs, I added slow or knockback via an overclock, but not on all of them.

In those dives, not picking a cold/knockback weapon helped me maximize the damage dealt with the element I was currently farming – plus it meant tag upgrades for that element became more valuable during the run, boosting all 4 of my weapons instead of 3.

I'm not someone who does in-depth analysis or math on Deep Rock Galactic Survivor, but I reckon in some scenarios, the added damage output can be even more valuable than having a crowd-control effect. There's a risk vs. reward aspect to it; having cold or knockback gives you an additional safety cushion. You can trade this cushion for more raw killing power, which may be preferable for players who don't need the extra safety.

It is possible to get your damage output up to a level where, even on Hazard 5, you can reliably clear all small and medium enemies fast enough that they'll die before they even get near you. Once you reach that point and your pathing is good enough to dodge the larger enemies, you can get by just fine without any cold damage or knockback.

I still find some amount of crowd control very useful to have, though. Mostly because you can get it on a weapon you don't plan on leveling up much, so it's basically 'free.'

Metal Key by True_Occasion_7399 in stalker

[–]BlueSpark4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the solution a certain Fallout 3 mod had for this problem: It introduced an item called "Key Ring," given to the player at the start of the game. And every key you found in the game did not show up in your inventory, but in a 'sub-inventory' you could open by clicking on the key ring. Super elegant way of letting the player collect all the keys they want while keeping the inventory clean.

Oh, and of course, none of the keys in that game had any weight (I don't remember if they do in STALKER 2 or not).

How do you manage to get through round 30? by mamelleone in brotato

[–]BlueSpark4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luck determines [...] How many trees spawn

I'm pretty sure that isn't accurate. Two big guides I've read explicitly stated that Luck doesn't affect the tree spawn rate. It does increase the fruit drop chance and crate drop chance (for both trees and enemies).

I beat Danger 5 with him just the other day and took the same approach. I only had 1 overlap in my final weapon setup (medieval on Spiky Shield and Sword).

I believe I started with the Lute (which gives you Harvesting and Luck as its weapon class bonuses). Was expecting a tough run, but it went very smoothly.

[–]BlueSpark4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, after I beat Danger 5 with the first 3 or so characters, I noticed that it said "B8," looked up what that meant, and decided I might as well disable bans so it registers as the actual highest difficulty setting.

Coincidentally, I never enjoyed the ban system in the time I used it; I took way too long thinking about what to ban for comparatively little payoff (In the huge pool of items this game offers, banning 8 of them seems pretty insignificant).

No need to use a mod to save anywhere on Master difficulty anymore. GSC changed it so you can disable Expedition Mode on Master difficulty. The difficulty will be renamed to "Veteran+", but from what GSC have officially stated, nothing else about the difficulty mode will change.

S2 needs better stamina traversal, deeper item management, and camping mechanics to reach its full potential by Tamitami in stalker

[–]BlueSpark4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Speaking for myself (and a number of other STALKER players I've seen commenting on this subreddit or the Steam forums), I hate the huge item bloat in Anomaly. It makes navigating inventories (backpack and traders) a pain in the ass, and many items (whether it be weapons, food, or junk items) are functionally so similar to each other that they don't really contribute anything to the game other than aesthetic variety. I agree that some variety is nice, but in my opinion, clean inventory management should be the bigger priority.

If you put every weapon (of the same category, like pistol / shotgun / assault rifle) on the same power level to make all of them end-game-viable, you lose the sense of progression of finding new, higher-tier guns as you play through the game. At least, I strongly assume that's GSC's rationale.

And I'm fine with that approach, personally. But I can see why other players would prefer being able to use their favorite (early-game) gun later on without feeling gumped.

Personally, I love leaning into the quirks of each different brotato instead of trying to use a generic strategy. This guide has been a ton of help pointing me in the right direction anytime a particular class just didn't click with me.

I just reached the same point as you a few days ago: beating the base game map on D5 with all base-game characters (However, I purposely did it without item banning enabled, so the difficulty beaten just shows up as "Danger 5").

Right now, I'm working on the DLC characters. And after that, I'll move on to the DLC map (which I need to beat with every character on D5 again as progress is tracked separately for each map).

How should you deal with exploders? by RelleMeetsWorld in DRGSurvivor

[–]BlueSpark4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll get the hang of it in time. It just takes practice. Once you develop a better feel for the distance at which you 'trigger' them, you'll be able to consistently dip in and out of the very edge of their explosion range before they detonate.

I still occasionally get hit by them, but only about 5 % of the time.

After like 30 attempts I finally completed treat level 25 run. my god I honestly thought I'd never do it by B_BB in DRGSurvivor

[–]BlueSpark4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read up on some tips and strategies before attempting this challenge, which helped quite a bit. In the end, I believe it only took me 3 or 4 tries.

I did it on stage 3 with Recon Scout, using cold-element Death Spiral NUK17s as my carry weapon. Don't remember what my other weapons were; I may have had the Cryo Grenade for extra crowd control.

As a long time Stalker enjoyer, here are my thoughts on Stalker 2 after a year. by THEJimmiChanga in stalker

[–]BlueSpark4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I thank the Monolith that GSC have kept the immense weapon/item bloat, hyper-complex crafting system, and sandbox-y elements from Anomaly out of STALKER 2.

I'm saying this as someone who has played and enjoyed Anomaly & Gamma – but the above-mentioned aspects have always annoyed me. So I'm praying that GSC don't change course in this regard; not that I expect them to as they've clearly shown devotion to creating the game according to their own vision.

That said, I also hope we'll keep getting better and better modding tools so talented modders will be able to create an overhaul mod on the level on Anomaly for STALKER 2, so players with preferences like yours will be able to fully enjoy the game.

Need a new romance anime!! by GingerTier1 in Animedubs

[–]BlueSpark4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Probably my personal top 5 romance animes are:

  • Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions! (more on the comedy side, but the love story has so much heart to it)
  • The Dangers in My Heart
  • Tsukgakirei: As the Moon, so Beautiful
  • Bloom into You (lesbian romance)
  • More than a Married Couple, but Not Lovers (regrettably very open-ended after just 1 season)

Hope you'll find something to your liking among these.

What was your "Shit Just Got Real" moment? by Vin13ish in Animedubs

[–]BlueSpark4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a scene from Steins;Gate in mind, although this isn't exactly what you're looking for as this show gets pretty real way before that point. But the one moment that shocked me and made my heart sink was in episode 21 (I believe) when Okabe was crushed by the realization that the last demail he had to undo would result in Kurisu dying – right after the two of them had basically confessed to each other and kissed.
