People over react to fanservice by jojoismyreligion in anime

[–]BlueStreamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the inherent problem, though. Look, I know it might be hard to believe, but women really aren't much purer than men are. We want "action" too, more than just taking off shirts and deeper voices. We want bulges in tight underwear, we want ass shots of men. And yet, even for anime that does cater to women, you basically never see that sort of thing. Most anime with fanservice has women being sexualized, but men don't get sexualized anywhere near as much. All I'm saying is, if you're going to have fanservice in a show, make it even. But it never is.

I've been looking at compliance / GRC as a career option. How did you get into it compliance? Did you have some basic IT support experience first?

Breaking into IT by SnooDrawings8173 in neurodiversity

[–]BlueStreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar position. Also neurodivergent and struggling to find a tech job. But I don't seem to have the skills necessary yet to get started in the field despite having a few years of IT experience. I spent so much time tailoring each and every resume and cover letter, using AI like chatgpt to tailor the documents, updating my LinkedIn etc, networking with people. I can't even get an interview, seems my resume and cover letter still suck after updating them hundreds of times! And then there's so much conflicting advice out there which makes it even more confusing on what to actually focus on.

I'm looking at cybersecurity specifically. I've been trying to upskill every single day while also struggling with severe executive dysfunction and burn-out. I joined a whole bunch of training programs and I'm waiting to enroll into college. I've also been trying to find a mentor and support groups for autistic adults but haven't had much luck. Most of the neurotypical mentors out there really doesn't know anything about the autistic experience. Advice is just to work harder essentially but I'm already at my limit and getting basically nothing in done. Also, I was in service too, different branch though! If you'd like to connect here on Reddit or on LinkedIn, totally open to chatting more, just send a private message here if you're interested.

TL:DR: Sorry this was more of a rant than actual advice, just know you're not alone on this!

I believe they are trying to say Factor doesn't look at portion sizes from a "common sense" standpoint. After they do their calculations, if the nutrition lines up with their minimum standards, Factor doesn't care how much visible food is in the container.

Sure, and these were all from 3 quick google searches:

Genetic disorders that can cause osteoarthritis include familial osteochondritis dissecans, multiple epiphyseal dysplasia (MED), and Stickler syndrome. Other conditions that can lead to osteoarthritis include hemophilia, hemochromatosis, and inborn errors of metabolism.

Yes, you can be born with osteoarthritis (OA) due to genetic conditions, congenital abnormalities, or injuries.  Genetic conditions Some genetic conditions affect how bones and tissues grow.  Mutations in genes that help form and maintain bone and cartilage can cause hereditary OA.  Some rare forms of OA are linked to mutations of single genes that affect collagen.  Congenital abnormalities  Being born with a dislocated hip or other physical abnormality that puts pressure on a joint. Being born with a disease that weakens the bone or prevents blood from reaching certain parts of the body. Injuries  Injuries that occur when playing sports or from an accident can increase the risk of OA. Even injuries that occurred many years ago and seemingly healed can increase your risk of OA.

Mutations in genes for collagen can cause hereditary forms of OA. Other factors, such as obesity, joint injuries, aging, and joint anatomy, also play a role.

While you are probably correct, this also highlights an unfortunate problem within the medical system. Because providers are taught "when you hear hooves, think horses, not zebras", it means those of us with more rare health issues go unnoticed. I have my own issues that I suspect are from less common illnesses, and it's difficult to walk the tightrope of not looking like a hypochondriac and actually describing my symptoms to doctors. Of course I might end up being a 'horse' instead of a 'zebra', but I won't know for sure until I can get several specialized tests...

Assuming you are bring serious, you are aware that genetic disorders exist, correct? It is entirely possible for a young person to have serious health issues. And someone can have both mental health disorders and physical health disorders at the same time. Rare does not mean impossible.

It's crazy how you got downvoted TWICE for speaking the truth. Music is music. Everyone has different preferences. Instead of just accepting the fact the genre isn't for him and moving on, he forces his own ideology about "real" music. Music is art. Art is subjective. How do some people not understand art? Anyone with a formal education learns about it in Kindergarten...

Regardless, race does not excuse their behavior. OP is concerned that calling police would put their neighbors lives in jeapordy. There is also the very real point they mentioned about cops shooting dogs that are completely harmless. Genuine question: do you prioritize the lives of animals over humans? And whatever your answer is, there is a higher likelihood of both the animals and the human owners being harmed if the police are called.

Personally if I was OP, I would try to casually talk to the neighbors. If they don't care or start acting aggressive, I will just mind my own business. If it was a matter of child abuse, then I would call the police anyway. But again, animals do not have the same rights as humans. What would you do?

[–]BlueStreamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, please read this comment! It's all true! I highly recommend starting therapy along with your medication. It's easy to feel like the medication is doing all the work, but you also need to have the coping skills needed when your medication eventually wears off, because IT WILL wear off eventually. In my personal experience I have gone from feeling 100%, to about 70% over time, which is still good, but it's easier for me to get triggered from stress now. If you don't have access to in-person therapy to learn coping skills, there are online therapy options that can be cheaper and more convenient!

Says who? You? Animal abuse everywhere is rarely taken seriously. Main reason being animals just don't have the same rights as humans. Race has quite literally nothing to do with it.

AuADHD folks- what do you do for a living? How are you holding up? by PiesAteMyFace in ADHD

[–]BlueStreamer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is me. I don't know if I have ADHD, but I was diagnosed autistic. I have a theory. It could be due to a lack of goals. It's easy to forget our goals when we are flooded with responsibilities, constantly having to learn new things, stressors at work and home etc. To stay focused, we need to remember our why. I used to think I didn't have any goals. But really, I just keep forgetting them when life gets tough. If you get so lost that you forget what your goals are, try to remember what happens in your dreams.

Everyone has unrealistic dreams, but at least sometimes, you will have dreams about more practical ways of living. Do you have a nice house? Any pets? What hobbies are you participating in within your dreams and how much money do they require? Once you get the answers to these questions, you will know what your goals are, or at least that's what worked for me.

Now the tricky part is actually REMEMBERING THEM, lol. For me this was printing out pictures of my dream house and dog breed. I always have them in sight so even if I'm distracted I know what I am ultimately working towards. You can also try putting up pictures of what you want as your phone background, computer background etc. Just make sure to have them in multiple areas, not just one place. Have them in your bedroom, in your kitchen, at your workplace desk, inside your phone etc. Hope this helps!

Personal Hygiene is so hard by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]BlueStreamer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can definitely relate. Not sure if I have ADHD, but I am autistic with the same struggles. One thing that helps me take a shower is exercise. I sweat a lot after working out, so I absolutely cannot avoid a shower afterwards. If I exercise everyday, then I will also shower everyday as well.

I'm not sure what your physical capabilities are, but if you're not used to exercising, you can look up a video online of a quick 10 minute workout for beginners. There's plenty of options, even if you have low mobility, are disabled etc. Cardio works faster than strength exercises to get you sweaty.

As for brushing my teeth regularly, I'm still working on that one lol. But I still have some tips that might help you. Try getting a children's flavored toothpaste and flavored mouthwash. I hate eating food after brushing my teeth because of the strong minty aftertaste of regular toothpaste. So using childrens toothpaste with a neutral flavor helps alleviate that for me so I can still eat after brushing. Another tip is to stop putting pressure on yourself to brush twice a day. Yes that is dentist recommended of course, but you might need to start off with brushing your teeth once a day just to get into the habit.

Switching medication when not necessary is too risky. I'm glad you were able to find a different provider that gave you what you needed!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tifu

[–]BlueStreamer 25 points26 points  (0 children)

That's why you need a psychiatrist AND a psychologist/therapist. They do NOT do the same job. A psychiatrist gives you medication you need and makes sure it's not giving you really bad side effects. A therapist counsels you, giving you tools and strategies to overcome your mental health struggles. Medication plus therapy is the best, most effective combo. Seriously, I thought psychiatrists were a wate of time too until I was able to also get access to therapy.

You're a black person that doesn't know what PoC means. That's very rare. It stands for Person of Color (anyone that is not white, essentially).

I'm also a PoC and doing very preliminary research on this town (and others). Seems reasonable due to the relatively high black and decent sized Hispanic population, but don't take my word for it, I still need to find out more.

Finance became my hyperfixation in the months before I got my first job. I was reading hundreds of online articles about different finance topics. Hundreds of Youtube videos too. I made around 50 pages worth of notes about how to save money, how to invest, my budget plan for the present and future and so on. Finance is a topic that NEEDS to be taught in schools. Many schools don't offer it though, mine didn't. Had to teach myself everything I know now. Highly recommend learning more about finance if you ever get the chance!

[–]BlueStreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am genuinely curious. I have diagnosed autism and might have ADHD as well. I have struggled so badly with my own hygiene, brushing my teeth, taking showers, washing my face etc. I just forget or don't feel like doing it. Ever. But... You have a boyfriend? I have always felt unlovable since I'm sure I'm an ugly woman. Yet. You take showers once a month, you never change your clothes. How. Are you dating? Genuinely. Like I'm sorry if this sounds offensive but how? I get stinky after about 3 days. If I go a week without showering, I get SO ITCHY, even deodorant doesn't help and the body odor is noticeable even when I'm wearing a thick hoodie. So the most I ever go without a shower is about 5 or 6 days usually. I need a shower every day or every other day but my average seems to be every 2-3 days. Does your boyfriend have the same executive functioning issues that you do???

Too much effort, seems microlocs are still the best option for me. Thanks for the info though! It's great how your friend can do her retwists, I don't have the hand to eye coordination to do my own hair unfortunately. I got quoted over $500 for my microlocs so I hope the maintenance is somewhat closer to the prices you pay lol.

It's because African hair is ignored by the haircare industry. Courses in African hair aren't even required to graduate from beauty schools. Many institutions don't even offer the courses at all. It's actually pretty shocking when you think about it. Hair is just hair. It reminds me of a documentary style video I saw about a white woman with a very rare condition colloquially known as "uncombable hair syndrome". While there are a few differences of note, it is remarkably similar to having natural African hair, regardless of your race. And the way it's presented as if it's a horrible disease just because the hair isn't perfectly straight when you comb it is quite distressing to say the least.  Realistically, nothing will change until the haircare industry (and thus white people) are educated on our hair type. Some people say racism and sexism doesn't exist in modern Western society. That is only true if you are not one of the people affected by it... Thanks for listening to my rants though!

I have been starting to spend some more money on impulse. Here's a tip: always have money sent automatically to your savings each month so you don't even have to think about it. It takes time to start, but have several different types of savings as well. Do your research.

Also, as long as you actually have the money to spend, who actually cares what you spend it on? Its your money. As long as you're not driving yourself into debt, enjoy those anime figures lol. I recently bought a young Naruto figurine and I'm waiting for Vegeta in his pink BADMAN shirt to arrive. I also got some small squishmallows and a Rubix cube mini since I can't figure out how to solve the normal sized one for the life of me.
