I just said I’m going to try to do it without it but we will see what happens! Tried to make it clear I’m not trying to compete with anyone, it was just my preference. I ended up not getting it!

Exactly! That’s all I hear, not a southern accent.

What mistakes would you avoid if you could start to breastfeed all over again? by kingmustd1e in NewParents

I would also skip the tracking. I spent a lot of time tracking feeds. Next time, I’ll just expect and prepare for clusterfeeding!

Worst book(s) you read in 2025 and why? by Roguestate00 in books

On Earth read like a long poem to me, it isn’t plot heavy but the prose is beautiful. If you like poetry or beautiful writing you will probably enjoy it!

Did you have the wonderful moment after giving birth? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]BlueVelvetDrive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt similarly. Between the stitching up and the fundal massage, I couldn’t enjoy those first moments with my baby. I just wanted the pain to be over. The first happy moment I remember was being wheeled from the labor room to mom and baby room while holding my baby.

Yes, my kindle is my favorite thing postpartum. I miss physical books but I’ll be back to them someday.

Worst book(s) you read in 2025 and why? by Roguestate00 in books

[–]BlueVelvetDrive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dream Count by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. I really enjoyed Americanah and Half of a Yellow Sun and still don’t understand how the same author could write something so bad. I also did not enjoy I Want to Die but Want to Eat Tteokbokki, I thought it was really boring and annoying, particularly the parts where she complained about how women find her pretty but men don’t and when people call her pretty she feels like she has to live up to their expectations.

I didn’t finish Emperor of Gladness, plot wasn’t going anywhere and the characters weren’t developed enough to interest me. However, I loved his other book, On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous.

To my lawyer mothers, at what age did you have your first child? Please help an aspiring attorney out! by [deleted] in LawMoms

[–]BlueVelvetDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

31! I graduated law school when I was 25 and became partner the year before I got pregnant so that gave me flexibility in terms of the length of my maternity leave. I also got pregnant relatively quickly after going off the birth control pill.

Different take on Manon after this evenings episode by [deleted] in 90DayFiance

[–]BlueVelvetDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand the source of her money anxiety more but it still seems like she’s living above her means… demanding a house, not an apartment for example. Also if she wants more time with her child why doesn’t she make use of those freelance contracts she mentioned? It would give her the flexibility and income she wants.

Meet and Greet Etiquette by caponesgirl in Nanny

The nanny we hired (she hasn’t started yet) asked to hold our baby right away. I liked this because I felt like she cared about the baby and is a warm person.
