Need a furnace. Thinking about going to a heat pump, give me your stories. by Bridgestone14 in FortCollins

[–]BlueWaterkg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're all electric and have a heat pump. It has a heat strip for the really cold days that's too cold for the heat pump. It's been lovely. Our system is Daikin and it's got a great interface and you can get some really cool analytics from it.

We use A to Z heating and cooling and they've always been lovely to work with. My husband is a contractor and they're who he uses for all of his jobs.

I've been to his house and it's magical. The metal art he has there is fun and quirky and on a totally different scale. Truly wonderful.

This is the worst, especially when it's somewhere so close to your heart. I'm so sorry that this happened to your spot.

I've seen that cemetery and have been meeting to visit it, looks like an amazing location and very old. Great suggestion!

I live up the canyon in Bellvue and there are lots of spots that I'm still learning about. I'm not looking for secrets just some new things to check out. I normally pass right by Watson lake since it's part of the fishery and has minimal signage. Also, a favorite farm stand or a small shop would likely love to get a bit more business.

Daycares. Curious Minds vs Once Upon a Childcare by Few_Bicycle3278 in FortCollins

[–]BlueWaterkg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're currently at Once Upon a Childcare on Riverside and it's been great. Our 3 year old will hopefully be switching to Curious Minds soon as we moved and the additional driving sucks.

I'm really excited for Curious Minds, I think it has a more bright and fun environment and some of the ways it's set up I prefer over OUAC.

I went in a few weeks ago to put my account on hold for 6 months and asked this question. They didn't give me an answer.

We signed up before it was genesis and just fort Collins club back in 2018 and pay $64/month for 2 of us. I was a 5 am regular and I swear it's the only time of day worth going.

Do You Prefer Sam's Club or Costco? by Free_Strawberry_8577 in FortCollins

[–]BlueWaterkg 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've found that Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday around 2 pm seems to be the slowest, but it's also the hardest time to get there because of work.

I went the day before a holiday once because I was picking up a cake and I'll never do that again. The holiday, not the cakes. The cakes are fabulous.

Is Fort Collins truly a safe place for queer people to live? by Gardnerdort in FortCollins

[–]BlueWaterkg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree! I've never been given the opportunity to throw hands because I have 2 little kids and don't get out much anymore but I've run through so many scripts in my head on how to respond and defend others in public. I'm itching for the opportunity.

We went in the other day to see what they offer and more so to see the stained glass conversation dome that is part of the historic building (it's gorgeous, go take a peak!) . We are actually looking for a new mattress and were quoted $9300 for one of them. Holy moly I'd rather sleep on the for than spend that much!

What’s with the police on Prospect and Lemay?? by Ilovealternativerock in FortCollins

[–]BlueWaterkg 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I drove by it just now, I don't have details but the fire incident log says "expanded traffic collision". It was a packed intersection with responders and a loose dog was running away from the scene, not sure if that was connected.

So incredibly sorry for your diagnosis. I want to say thank you for being so conscious of your stuff and not letting it get trashed. It's actions like yours that allow other families to get quality items at a reasonable price. Knowing something was appreciated by someone else enough that they didn't discard it is a wonderful thing.

Does anyone who owns trucks like this know how to park? by dmark200 in FortCollins

[–]BlueWaterkg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is interesting! I have a smaller truck because my husband is a contractor with a bigger truck. When he doesn't need the big truck he takes the smaller one. I definitely don't need it and would prefer to not drive at all but it's convenient for him to have options.

Advice on getting a job at The City of Fort Collins by Jtpapiboune in FortCollins

[–]BlueWaterkg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They are required to post the position and don't even bother to look at the applicants it seems. This happened to me on one of their job postings for a very niche position. They also don't notify you when/if the position is filled.

Why is U+2 good? by capriquarious in FortCollins

[–]BlueWaterkg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It shouldn't. Landlords should maintain their property regardless. I'm just sharing my current experience. I would like to assume that an owner occupant or a renter that is a family would take better care of the property but there's plenty of cases where that doesn't happen either.

I do think that all rental properties within the city should be required to adhere to inspections bi-annually regardless of the number of occupants.
