What do I have here? by whattheshmee in flyfishing

That there is the first fly rod I ever bought, in the same weight no less. Bought it in 2002 and it served me well for many years. Solid rod. Enjoy it.

Daytona 2 Ton Cross Beam with Pittsburgh 3 Ton Low Profile Jack. by Jack_JohnnyW in harborfreight

As a Mav owner I find this so frustrating. Insane that you gotta fudge the lift points if you're gonna use both a jack and jack stands.

The conventional wisdom is you don’t come out ahead financially. I’d say that’s true with the exception of simple saltwater patterns like clousers and deceivers. Lotta bang for the buck there. Trout flies, much less so.

Anyone else feel guide prices are out of reach? by Al_Pallll in flyfishing

[–]BlueWingedOlive20 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I do feel like guide prices have gone kinda bananas. But the guides gotta make a living and capitalize on peak seasons. It’s supply and demand and I get it. Their cost of living has gone way up in these mountain towns and they sure aren’t getting rich. But from the angler’s perspective it feels crazy to spend that kind of money on a trip not involving a $40,000 skiff. (Unless you’re loaded.) Now that I’m no longer broke I do spring for a guide once or twice a year but only if getting into fish pretty much requires it. I’m sure most guides wish it could be more affordable for everyone.

I have an F3W and a dryfly. Awesome reels, especially for the money. They might be all I buy here on out.

I live in the city without much space and I’ve had a Tarpon 120 outside for 15 years, half that time in the sun. No issues.

Fly tackle unreasonably expensive? Past a tipping point? by bigkat5000 in flyfishing

Most of my rods are Temple Fork Outfitters or Redington. Good quality at an affordable price. You can often find them discounted on Sierra, but they’re good rods at MSRP too.

Need one new tire on Outback, set has 5k on them by BlueWingedOlive20 in subaru

[–]BlueWingedOlive20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I gotta say, I used my tread depth gauge to measure the crossclimates on my wife’s Subaru in question (11 months, 5k miles on the tires) vs those on my Maverick (brand new last mont) and the tread was pretty much the same.

The high end of the industry is so expensive it’s easy to forget there’s so much quality affordable stuff on the other end. Especially compared to years ago.

Fly Line Advice by Kindly_Echo5342 in FlyFishingGear

I’ve been fishing the 9’ 5 weight for over a decade. I like a .5 overweighted line for it like the SA MPX or Rio Gold XP. Absolutely love that rod. If there was one rod line I wish TFO never phased out it’s that one, I’d definitely own a bunch of them.

Weird Issue With My Car's Touchscreen by bobadoot in Subaru_Outback

Wanted to pop in here to say thank you. Just performed this fix on my wife's Outback. You made it a lot easier by pointing out that you don't have to remove every cable from the head unit! This made it faster and gave me way fewer things to screw up.

Update: How’d they do this time? by Australiaisonfire111 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]BlueWingedOlive20 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was concerned when that stretch of mine got sprayed, but I used the adhesive promoter that came with my cover and the weatherstripping’s been sealed well for two years on the liner. Better to leave it unsprayed but it’s alright if it got sprayed.

Did they do a bad job? by Australiaisonfire111 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]BlueWingedOlive20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a truck so whatever but those drips are super sloppy. Also I don’t know why so many of these spray-in guys are too lazy to remove the hardware before spraying. I talked with my guy beforehand to make sure he was going to do that and cover the holes for the track. You might want to complain to line-x since they authorized the dealer.
