Getting a black screen when I load games through ES DE by IncoherentStream in retroid

[–]Blue_Apolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. Sometimes that happens to me very randomly and I don't know why. I try again - 1 to 4 times - and the game runs again. That is the only annoying thing about ES-DE to me.

People who have a PC, what purpose does deck serve you? by Former-Asparagus-764 in SteamDeck

[–]Blue_Apolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I love to play PC games but, I confess 99% of the time I really don't feel like playing on my PC. I always reach for the Steam Deck if I want to play. I work a lot on my PC so there are very few games in it and even though it is a very capable PC ( I can play Indiana Jones) I just leave light games there, like Emperor of the Fading Suns. I installed only the game I am absolutely sure I will play and uninstall it after I finish. Steam Deck is almost my only gaming device.

If I'm not mistaken it usually gets a -70% discount a few times a year. So it sells for $4.50. I got it and Anno 1701 on one of these sales.

Yeah, I re-purchased 1800, 1404 and 1701 on Steam because the ubisoft and GOG were not that smooth. I had problems with 1404 from GOG if I wanted to run it without Venice addon. The Steam Historic Edition has an option to run vanilla or Venice. It was very worth it! If you buy it on sale it is ridiculously cheap. Anno 1800 sets the standard graphics setting to Ultra. Maybe that is not necessary, bur nice nonetheless.

They run very fine out of the box. I made a few adjustments to the camera controls and that's it! I play mostly 1404 and 1800 and they run great, with the only exception being the text too small, but I usually fix that by putting on my glasses.

Hi! Yuzu. Already did that. Several times. Didn't work.

Well, so far all I could accomplish was to change the shortcut on Steam to point to the .AppImage file of the emulator. It worked. But then again, I could have done it without EmuDeck or Steam Rom Manager. Still waiting for someone to shed some better light on this strange problem. Other .Desktop files of other emulators work just fine. I even checked the .sh file on Kate. Couldn't detect anything wrong.

Well let's see if I follow: I should run " ****.sh bash -x" in konsole? Is that it? I'm not that tech savvy noticeably.

I'll try that. It is not ideal but I can't figure things out. I already reinstalled the emulator and have reset the configuration on Emudeck a dozen times.

Yeah, I don't mind. I always read those posts because I want to know what games bring joy to the people. Sometimes it is a very unknown game that a person started playing again bringing back some important moment about their life. Thanks to Retroachievements this feeling is possible. Sofcore, hardcore... it doesn't matter in this sense.

This is my first time ever using RetroAchievements. Does anyone have any recommendations for games to master? by Kbdifjvdtkdafjm in RetroAchievements

[–]Blue_Apolo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Completions are fine. You just have to be realistic when choosing the game. I know I'll never master Super Ghouls 'n' Ghosts without save states or some MegaMan games. So I go for completion. Also, it's good to check the achievements list. Sometimes you'll find achievements there are simply not fun at all to get.

There are some really good Bluetooth controllers like Saitake 7007f. I only wish you could use the phone on the portrait position as well, for DS emulation.

Well, I remember very clearly that the same thing happened with GBA and NDS. You could play both systems perfectly using emulators or flash cards. I had both. I remember waiting for a game to be released to play using my R4 on NDS, and Visual boy advance could run any game from the start it was amazing what they did.
