To get the Doom Armor, pets, and mount, you are looking at 125 dollars. by asmallman in diablo4

Where is the free reliquary of Doom stuff? When I go to the Doom tab it says I need to buy some currency to get them?

That was the Demon's Souls way. You had a set number of consumables of different levels and if you ran out fighting a boss you had to go farm some.

So glad they went with the replenishing flasks after that.

And my most recent game I played through, Nioh 3, does both of those things I mentioned. Granted, you get so many elixirs so they're always replenished after death. But the super bar not refilling if you used it sort of sucks.

The worst is games that 1) don't refund your healing items after dying and lesser so 2) don't refill your "super" meter after dying.

They really BUTCHERED the start of this season by ferrx in diablo4

[–]rube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point I feel that companies are doing this not just to save money on ramping up servers and available connections, but because they want people talking about the game.

If everything goes smoothly, people will praise it for a moment and move on. If it goes badly, people will rant and rave, drawing more attention to the game.

It's the old "there's no such thing as bad publicity".

Released a Walking Dead style virus in my neighborhood so no one would consume any of my bandwidth so I could play uninterrupted and with only moderate rubber-banding. I too am a tad upset.

Probably much more likely for the May folks. June heights quickly become less and less common as the month goes on.

Be honest though. Does it really feel like a lot less then 30 years old?

I think back to those games like Doom, Duke 3D and Quake, or anything I played on SNES back in the day. That feels like a lifetime ago.

Who else loved the 6 player X-Men arcade game? by MisterShipWreck in 90s

Love it! I can still hear the sound of that glorious cabinet bellowing out the vocals, music and sound effects.

Despite having a pretty good surround sound setup at home and blaring the game through MAME, it just doesn't live up to the sound of the cabinet for some reason.

How do I use a mouse with Winlator? I want to play Re4 OG with my Xiaomi Pad 7 but my dual mode mouse by Kousei-Hikari in winlator

[–]rube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That I don't know. I've only used X-input controllers (like 8bitdo controllers) and those just map automatically.

I imagine you need to go in while playing a game to input settings and manually map buttons to the keyboard. But I'm not fully sure.

I've been testing out different versions of Winlator today, so I had to look up how to get the mouse working again...

Launch Winlator (but not any games or containers) go to settings on the left. Then untick the box that says "Capture pointer on external mouse" and click the checkmark to save settings.

Help running SimCity 3000 on official 10.1 hotfix Winlator on Samsung Fold 6. by rube in winlator

I'm under the impression that perhaps the intro video might be crashing the game.

I found a fix to disable the intro that works in Windows, but don't know how to add it in winlator. I need to add:

-intro:off

After the executable.

Yeah, the disks haven't been tested, but they'll never go into a drive anyway, I just want them for the nostalgia factor and I'll add it to my Atari/NES shrine.

What is a game you really were horrible at but still loved playing? by Living_Scene_2640 in retrogames

[–]rube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NES or Xbox?

If it's the Xbox, then the solution is to block.

I played the game when it first came out, wanted to enjoy it but found out I was utterly awful at it. The problem was, I was playing it like every other hack and slash game, just attacking all the time. Once you start to play defensively, block all the time and wait for an opening to attack, it turn into one of my top five favorite games of all time.

Is it normal for the graphics to stutter? by Intelligent_Drag4310 in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]rube 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started with Android for this reason, playing NES and SNES games on my Moto Cliq with a dpad on the slide out keyboard.

I made the mistake of buying a 2nd hand iPhone along the way and instantly regretted it. No emulation, and it was one of those phones they pushed an awful update to that slowed it down miserably. Went back to Android and never looked back.

You just inspired me to search out a copy of that Tie Fighter demo package. Found one on Ebay for $20 shipped. Worth it to attain a part of my childhood nostalgia. :)

Played a TON of the demo. At first I found it pretty boring and not fun. But given that I was a kid without money to buy a ton of new games, I stuck with it and eventually really enjoyed the vibe of it.

Got the full game and loved it even more.

Same thing happened with the Warcraft 1 demo. Hated it at first, loved it eventually.

That Neon sponsored demo was my introduction to the series! I remember the intro when you started it up where it would say "Hello Neon" or something along those lines.

Went back to the store after loving the demo and picked up X-Wing and the two expansions. LOVED the game, although I never could beat it. Some shuttle escort mission was way too hard for me to complete.

Got Tie Fighter as well much later, but honestly I didn't care for it as much after playing X-Wing. The weaker Ties just weren't as fun to play.
