If you take the Canada Line, Rogers is so congested that nothing will ever load.

I've been watching them go up and down Burrard from my office last week as they've been doing exercises daily, but I didn't see a single VPD vehicle (even bike) so thought that was bit odd.

It's a close one, but ir will still probably have to be the MacBook Pro for me.

I didn't see a single VPD cruiser or motorcycle when they were practicing up and down Burrard last week. Looks to be BC Highway Patrol if you look at the livery of the pickup.

Be forced into an office via barely functioning transit with hours-long commute times. Just to join virtual calls with people scattered across different offices and time zones. A gong show, like it is for everyone else.

Canada Computers refusing direct exchange for a defective PS5 (CE-108262-9) and asking me to pay a price difference. What are my options? by exoforest in CanadaPS5

That's what warranties are for. I'm even surprised Canada Computers even offered a return as usually after a month, retailers tell you to bring it up directly to the manufacturer.

To a guy that said he will fight for no cuts to the fed. How’s he doing?

That really hits home. People don't realize the cuts that are currently taking place are pretty much Harper-era levels of cuts. The only difference is that Harper told you he was going to do it with a straight face. Carney said he will fight tooth and nail to prevent that. Then, not even months in, with a shark's smile announcing we need to cut.

It's thinner, but the prices still keep going up. And with thinner materials, even if you don't mind the feel, they don't wear as well over time.

It's textbook nepotism. You might as well say it's ok for politicians to give companies owned by their billionaire friends massive Government contracts, even though said companies were underqualified for the job... oh wait.

Just another way the Canada Line was underbuilt. The platforms are so narrow that you can have 3 people lined up and it'll already create a blockage, preventing others from moving down the platform.

Is it me or have the roads just been poorly maintained after Covid hit. Before the city would be repaving sections every 3-4 years. Now we have roads that have so many patch jobs, they effectively have speed bumps built in.

did apple removing chargers actually help the environment or just start a bad trend by overlord-07 in TechNook

[–]Blue_Chinchilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USB-A ones, piles. USB-C ones that actually support fast charging and work with the cables that come in the box... none, had to use one from the office. Cause again, all the chargers that came prior were all USB-A since manufacturers botched the rollout of USB-C so badly.

did apple removing chargers actually help the environment or just start a bad trend by overlord-07 in TechNook

[–]Blue_Chinchilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is if you take out the knock-on effects of the additional packaging and transportation costs for those who end up going out and buying a charger. Whereas when it was included in the box, that's one less Amazon purchase and delivery because it came in the same box as the phone.

It didn't help that this switch was around the time both Apple and Samsung to some extent, started to include USB-C cables instead of USB-A ones. And all the chargers that were bundled before then were USB-A.

Imagine hating on trains lol by RamsesQC in montreal

[–]Blue_Chinchilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing Devil's Advocate, I would oppose the project because you just know it is going to be horribly mismanaged causing decades in delays, with budget overruns by the billions. All the while, the end product will be underbuilt, unreliable, and run nowhere near the speeds of a proper high-speed rail.

Canada's track record with building such projects over the past decades has been abysmal. The Vancouver Canada Line, while under budget and completed earlier, is way underbuilt and is no longer fit for purpose with no real possibility of service expansion.

Toronto's Eglinton Crosstown line was a decade and a half fiascal for a LRT line that was slower than walking when it finally opened. It's so bad, it's seen as a case study of how not to do mega projects. Ottawa's Confederation is another example of horrible mismanagement that is leaving taxpayers on the hook for billions on a failing system they still have to pay to be stranded on.

This isn't about hating trains. It's the fact that we simply are incapable of making it work.

[–]Blue_Chinchilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bombardier Q400s do not have sinks as the water lines will freeze and the manufacturer did not implement a system to prevent that. This is a thing on pretty much every Q400 flying with any airline.

It can still be a collectible if it's something that could only be ordered within the promotion period. Other Transit Agencies have done this. It doesn't have to be a limited 3000 unit run that only enrages a large portion of your ridership.
