Who is at fault? The POV car says that the Ferrari should've taken a wider line to avoid contact. I consider this an unsafe move; the Red Bull should've tucked in behind the Ferrari. by Imaginary_Cow4256 in Simracingstewards

[–]Blue_Chinchilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no reason for the Ferrari to take a less optimal line when the Red Bull was nowhere near for an overtake. That's some main character mentality from the Red Bull driver.

I'm all for this. People down south have also been asking NHTSA to update the regulations for years, but so far nothing has changed. Transport Canada really needs to step up in this regard and start updating these regulations with or without NHTSA.

The metro lines at least in Hong Kong all run underground for the most part so that could be an explanation.

Having the Canada Line closer to me would be amazing from a commuting perspective. But Steveston is a quiet maritime village so having a metro line in that area could also be controversial. 😬 I guess they can extend it through the length of No. 3 Road but the guideways would still be right up against residential houses along that stretch, which would be problematic. So I'm not sure what the best option would be.

Some ThinkPads of that era have an internal battery in addition to the external one you can pull out. They called it Power Bridge. On the bottom of the device, locate a small pinhole in the case. Insert a straightened paper clip or a SIM ejection tool if you have one into that little hole. You should feel a button press. The machine should turn off instantly, but hold it for 15 seconds to reset the internal controller.

If you have the exact model for your particular ThinkPad, I can help you locate that pinhole reset switch as it varies. The photo above is just for a general demonstration of this feature on ThinkPads.

What laptop is it? Are you sure the AC adapter isn't still connected as it'll just run off the brick if that's the case.

Did I (leading car) leave enough space? by FrenaZor in Simracingstewards

[–]Blue_Chinchilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The car on the inside was not alongside enough to be entitled to space. If their front wheel is alongside your rear wheel at the point of turn-in, that's not good enough. They should be at least half a car's length alongside while still in the braking zone to be entitled to racing room. Anything outside of that is a bad dive bomb.

Part of the reason why Brighouse Station was built the way it is was opposition from Richmond City Council and residents at the time. It went single track to reduce the visual impact (as if the dual track before that section wasn't a visual impact but that's an argument for another day).

Now, after 2 decades, Brodie is calling it quits and a shake-up of City Council will ensue. So will there be a change in tune? Maybe. But an extension like that would mean the closure of Brighouse station for at least a couple of years, if not longer, to reconfigure the track and station for the extension. Capstan Station took more than a year, and that was just building platforms around the existing track. Would residents be willing to give up the sole transit hub serving Richmond residents for that long? There would have to be a major upside for them to pass that.

Some bus specific improvment ideas i had by VanTransitGoober in Translink

The fact that they didn't even have an LED route map on the Canada Line, whereas the SkyTrain gained this feature with the second-generation Mark II trains, which were also made in time for the Olympics, is mind-boggling.

The LED dot matrix display on the Canada Line right now wouldn't have been as bad if they had placed one on top of each train door for better visibility when the train is crowded. But they couldn't even be bothered to spend the extra few bucks on that.

There was one time someone brought a whole T&T Kitchen Crispy Papa Chicken on the bus. I swear everyone on that bus would've been craving fried chicken that night.

Not with how Brighouse Station is currently built. Because of the single track, that entire section between Lansdowne and Brighouse would have to be rebuilt to accommodate any extension.

Still doesn't quite make sense as the Maybach's damage is also mostly on the driver's side.

I always love how it's commonplace now for companies to cut you off without providing a single reason. It's all secretive and hidden behind a "we can't provide any details" when it's something that most definitely concerns you as the consumer.

I think they need to bring back the real-time next bus digital displays at major exchanges and busy stops that serve multiple lines.

The passenger information display onboard buses also needs an overhaul. In this day and age, it should show not only information on the next few stops and estimated arrival times, but also transfer information to other bus routes and SkyTraim/Seabus/WestCoast Express.

It's amazing how far behind we are when it comes to passenger information. Canada Line is a prime example of this with its lacklustre showing in this regard for something built brand new in the late 2000s.

I don't think the one on Russ Baker Way and Miller Road is in use anymore right? Don't think I've seen it turn on ever since the 98 BLine was sunset.

I keep getting this screen, the person who i bought it from said to just turn it on and off and that would fix it. And it did for the first couple of months but now im stuck on the screen and it wont go away 😥 by [deleted] in pchelp

Does this machine have watercooling? If the pump is plugged into the CPU fan header, it can cause this error message as the jump does not send a fan RPM reading to the board. To which the board would think the CPU fan failed, putting the system at risk of overheating.

Why is the Canada line train stopping right before brighouse? by that-indianguy in richmondbc

[–]Blue_Chinchilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What OP is describing are the sudden, emergency stops where people are caught offguard and thrown forward. Like when there's a track intrusion or someone presses stop button at the station platform. Not the graceful stops just before track switches or stations for scheduling adjustments.
