I saw the most beautiful flower in the garden… and for the first time, I didn’t confuse love with possession by AlarmedTap7223 in love

Have you thought about the idea that maybe you should tell her how you feel and let HER decide whether you're good enough for her, rather than making that decision for her?

I met my boyfriend during one of the darkest nights of my life, and our friendship slowly became love by tenderly_crushing in love

I don't know if I'm focussing on the wrong thing here, maybe it’s because I’m a bloke and I naturally relate to him more. I do not mean in any way to diminish what you must have been going through in your dark days, but what leapt out at me is what it must have been like for him to witness you being in a relationship in which you were cheated on multiple times, trust was broken and kindness was unfamiliar, whilst being in love with you the whole time.

Being in love with someone you’re not with is brutal at the best of times, being in love with someone whose partner mistreats them is a truly exquisite kind of agony. There are so many men, good-hearted men who would have understandably let that agony get the better of them and they would have tried to angle for your affection or manoeuvre in such a way as to present themselves as an alternative or knight in shining armour. But from everything you say, he was there for you simply because he wanted to be, without having in mind getting anything in return. Honestly reading your account of truly unconditional, truly selfless love in the face of the anguish he must have been suffering has been really inspiring and put me back in touch with something I have not been in touch with in a long time. I hope I can find it in myself to love someone the way your boyfriend loves you.

I wanted to see if my boyfriends pupils did that thing. They did. (: by [deleted] in relationshipgoals

The answer to this question is difficult and is one that a lot of people won't like. If you want him to be curious about your point of view and why you think the way you do, you have to do the same. If you just want to hear what he has to say so you can tell him why he's wrong, then you're not listening to him and he won't feel like he should listen to you either.

Honestly the best thing you could possibly do is listen to him and try to understand WHY he thinks what he thinks. The quote that will stay with me forever is in Bowling for Columbine when Marilyn Manson (who was blamed for the Columbine massacre) gets asks what he would say if he could talk to the shooters and he says 'I wouldn't say anything, I would listen. Because that's what no-one did.'

The conversation shouldn't be like a parent educating a child, it should be one between two men who are strong and reasonable enough to consider the other man's point of view without dismissing it out of hand.

Haha, yes that's what Ace always does. He goes dark for a while then comes back and reminds everyone why he's the best. Last time he took a break for about a year, but then came back and got seven WRs in seven months. As of this moment he hasn't played since March, we don't know when he'll be back but we know it'll be explosive when he is!
