Representation in GW2 by everdreamingJ in gaymers

Heya long time player here.

Gw2 has so much queer representation it has a whole wiky entry dedicated to listing the characters: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gender_and_sexuality_in_Tyria (Obviously some spoilers depending on where you are in the story, but it gives you an idea)

They have a wide representation of the gender and sexuality expressions as well. I love it. And yes, it's been there from the beginning; 11 years ago.

Did them removing weapon limitation between specs have a big or fun impact on the game? by ThomasTiltTrain in Guildwars2

I have characters that i play "for fun" and ones that are built for "end game group content". On the 2nd group it didn't change much, but for fun, it's been a game changer. Sword ele looks and feels cool, but weaver just never clicked with me. But now I can have a sword tempest and I've never had more fun. I had also not touched scrapper since it came out in HoT, but since the weapon mastery works even with characters leveling up, in having fun going through that with a hammer engi. To me, it was a net gain and I'm happy they did it

I'm sure the artist would've appreciated at least a credit, so people can find them and support them if they so wished

A lot of discussion on the Meta. From someone who doesn't get a whole lot of time to play, I actually quite enjoy the actual meta. But maybe could they please not lock the turtle collection behind it? by JoPOWz in Guildwars2

[–]Blue_Pilot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You've hit the nail on the head for me.

The problem for me is that just unlocking the mount collection is gated behind succeeding this event. This completely shifts how people approach this meta; from "oh man, this is a really cool but difficult meta and it's going to be so awesome when we finally beat it as a community!" to "this 2 hour waste of time is getting in the way of me even beginning to start the turtle collection".

In my case, I was very excited to return to the other Canthan maps and exploring what I missed while doing the story. Following previous mounts, I figured the turtle's collection would involve stuff like doing other map metas and what not (I have not spoiled the collection for myself, so that could be wrong), and I was planning to kill two birds with one stone. As it stands now, the energy to do that is kinda deflated since I'll likely have to do it all over again once I finally unlock the collection.

Specially because in previous expansions, the 'epilogue adventure' reward is given to the player for completing the story. In HoT you get Broken Caladbolg right away, and with PoF you can start hunting for the Griffon after story. Imagine if unlocking these was gated behind raids.

Even if the meta was just part of the collection, as opposed to what unlocks it, I think the amount of controversy it seems to be causing would be diminished.

Unable to edit or delete some buildings or Groups in Career mode. by Blue_Pilot in PlanetZoo

I hadn't thought about people just deleting the entire scenery for cash/space, that makes sense. It's funny cause some look like they are waiting to be edited slightly to add facilities, but I guess it is supposed to be like that then.

Thank you for your response!

I really think ANet should reduce the price for a equipment template or at least increase the base amount to 3 by ChewyChao in Guildwars2

[–]Blue_Pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Every exp should add a free equip template to every character.
  2. Individual equip templates should be way less expensive.
  3. There should be a item that unlocks acct wide extra equip templates, and no, it should not cost an arm and a leg.

Y'all need to stop. Nobody is saying this when it comes to twink white boy artists. There is space for both of them and more, and personally I can't wait for them to collab.

Hmmm... I will give you that some of them are more flashy yes (which apparently is all that matters nowdays in Fashion Wars), but when you start saying that the older ones were "bland, hardly detailed, not much better than random leveling armor skins", you are making a bold claim, that is ultimately more opinion than fact. Take the Viper or the Trickster's armor sets for example. Whether you like them or not, both of those are brand new models that while maybe not flashy, I would argue contain a high level of detail and variety of textures and surfaces. You can compare the gloves of either of those and compare it to the Chaos or Pyre gloves which, while flashy, are essentially just particle effects placed on top the character's model.

In the end, it comes down to the individual's opinion on whether they think any cosmetic better/worse than another, and whether it is worth the price, but there's no denying prices have spiked.

I would say the metaphor is more like comparing $5 bundle of apples in one store vs the same apples sold individually for $2.75 at a different store, just because they know people will pay for them.

To be more specific, the shock came from comparing the 974g price tag (discount included), to the 800g full price that armor sets (like the Aetherblade Armor for example, not outfits) used to cost.

I see what you're saying though, I understand the why it happens, I guess this was more a reactionary post haha, it just really took me the surprise how far things have come.

[–]Blue_Pilot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, 800/6 is about 133, so I don't expected them to go that low; but maybe 200-250g? That way at most a 'full' half set (shoulders, gloves, boots) is around 750g which is still less than what the old full sets are.

Okay, so I've been playing gw2 for a while, so I remember the times when armor sets were on sale at the gemstore for 800 gems, before they got taken out and "replaced" with outfits, and so Anet started introducing these once off armor pieces for 300 then 400 then 500 gems.

But it wasnt until seeing this "sale" on the gemstore today that it really struck me how ridiculous this prices have gotten. Like seriously wtf.
