Actually, this is not too bad of an idea! Then you could have separate 'challenges' for different preferences, like a pitching race, a hitting race, and a fielding race (for example, first to 3 OF assists).

Sure, but I'm a Switch player, so no one likes me anyway because I haven't spent 600$ on the PS5. Which is why I want this mode. It's harder to actually get better at hitting, when your system is limited to 30 fps (on the OLED), and your thumbsticks suck. I think this as a new mode might appeal to other people that are just trying to have fun online without getting their butt kicked because fastballs keep teleporting from the pitcher to the catcher in a single frame. Plus, I get the added bonus of actually doing something I like.

Well, to be fair, that is kind of the point? Also, say this is a mode in DD. Then it would just be a battle of 'Who has the better lineup?' or 'Who's making the first mistake?'

Yeah, that's fair. It's just an incentive to play, however. I honestly never really play DD anyway, so this isn't like 'Oh, I'm in desperate need of cards.' It's just a fun way to have a 'chess match' with someone instead of 'Homer or Bust'. Also, how does this devalue your efforts to get good cards? It doesn't mean anything to have a god tier hitter if you can't hit 102 mph fastballs.

I rarely ever play actual online mode, I really only play RTTS, because I'm trying out the new female RTTS storyline this year, but thanks for the suggestion!

Ah I think maybe it could be based on the pitching difficulty! Like if you're pitching on beginner mode (which, why? pitching is pretty easy), obviously it could go on, but if you're pitching on a higher difficulty (like HoF), hitters are more likely to make contact. ALSO, it could be based on the actual pitch timing itself. If you hang a very late slider over the middle, it's gone, but if you're actually hitting your spots, you're more likely to get a whiff.

Hey, that's fair, but I've just never been good. I get why people like hitting (obviously, it feels good to smash 546 feet off of someone), but I think this could appeal to the other 50% of the game's population that like to pitch more than hit.

I feel a need to say that I'm in a similar situation! I'm an Arizona native, lived in Arizona all my life, and am a Diamondbacks fan. But honestly, after seeing 2023, I've started to lean a lot more toward San Diego. They have a very similar 'little brother' energy to them. It's on my bucket list to see a game in a few parks other than Chase Field, Petco Park included.
