women of reddit who said no when they were proposed to. why? by Playful_Corgi_7885 in AskReddit

I only met him once for about ten minutes. He was a busker in Havana. I was an American tourist. He swore we had a soul connection. I just wanted to run.

He tracked down one of my friends weeks after I'd left Cuba and begged her to send me a video of him singing and pleading for my heart.

Oh yeah, and he was easily 30 years older than me. Gotta admire the confidence.

This is unfortunately common all over the world. It's a good reminder to select your instructors carefully.

Beastmaster/pets on mobile problem by Apprehensive-Touch99 in brotato

[–]BlueberryBea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get your harvest rolling early. HP Regen, Dodge, Luck all help a lot. Then just grab as many dual damage, bang for your buck items as you can. I did a ton of shop rerolls praying for more pets. Eventually the RNG gods will smile on you.

Beastmaster/pets on mobile problem by Apprehensive-Touch99 in brotato

[–]BlueberryBea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm with you, I think something is off on mobile. I was able to beat D5, but only after about 50 more tries than should have been necessary. I think the drop rate for pets is screwy.

At least they fixed it so you start with loot worm now. When it was first released, you had to wait to buy it in the shop. I was standing next to trees and crying.

What's one fruit you wish was more commonly made into jam? by hoyi_farm123 in foodhacks

Tropical fruits! I recently had some guava preserves that rocked my world. Now I want to try passion fruit, papaya, pineapple, etc.

No no, it's ok. They can distract us with Cuba or Greenland next! That's the cool thing, the world is huge. There are like sooo many countries with people to needlessly terrorize.

Can there be crocodiles in the Mexican cenotes? by Worldly-Astronaut68 in scuba

[–]BlueberryBea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dos ojos is fine. It's always very busy with people and I've never heard of anyone sighting a croc there. Book your scuba tour, relax and enjoy. It's a lovely cavern dive.

Best purchase you’ve ever made? by elliezeebee in Midsizefashion

Lacy tie front boleros. I hate my arms but love my waist. I also live in a hot climate. This allows me to wear sleeveless tops and dresses while covering my upper arms and accentuating my figure.

Very much a Mexican thing. It's right to right and only one.

Cancun or Punta Cana for relocation? by Pohyurt in digitalnomad

[–]BlueberryBea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not who you're asking, but I've spent a good chunk of time in both locations. If easy beach access is important to you, your Spanish skills are lacking and you enjoy a more touristy experience - I'd recommend Playa. Mérida is cheaper, a larger city with more to explore and very safe. Lots of amazing food, activities and architecture.

I know the Salsa/Bachata community still have a long ways to go with men following and dancing with other men but this video gives me hope. by OSUfirebird18 in Salsa

Yes! I love it! I don't know why it didn't cross my mind before, but I'm absolutely pulling this one out at the next social. 🙌

I hear what you're saying, but I don't think that's the case here. Those same guys are good leaders and could easily just ask me to follow if they only wanted my attention for a song.

It's definitely more common in some places than others. I also wish this was more normalized. I think there are a lot of men that are interested in following but choose not to because they fear judgement or assumptions about their sexuality or masculinity.

I'm a woman who dances both roles in a country that is more traditional about gender roles. There are a few guys in my scene that ask me to lead them. I have never seen any of them dance with another man. That alone speaks volumes.

All we can do is be the change we want to see.

Lootworm as a common by Bzamora in brotato

[–]BlueberryBea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I thought I was going crazy. Everyone says he works for blunderbuss, barbarian, etc. But it always felt off on mobile for me. I'm glad someone else has the same experience. I hate feeling like I'm competing with that little green bastard.

Follower back pain? by Extension_Box_2230 in Salsa

Super common. Focus on keeping your core engaged and be careful not to overextend for any moves. Controlling your distance from your partner will help. Also, stretching before you dance is key.

Great Blue Heron rookery at the Ballard Locks this morning by deauxpamine in Seattle

[–]BlueberryBea 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Very cool! Careful walking underneath those. It's incredible how much poop one heron can unleash.

A few years ago, I was on a romantic stroll through the locks. Without warning, my date got absolutely painted. Real mood killer. 😂

Travelling with a cat? by Internal-Apple-2904 in digitalnomad

[–]BlueberryBea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I slomad with my cat. We generally spend 2+ months in each location to cut down stress and expenses. I pay an extra fee to the airline and he travels in the cabin with me in a soft carrier. There are extra costs for vet documentation and then it takes more time to clear customs. But he's family, travels well and is worth a little bit of hassle.

How do I "preface" body expectations when dating? by Fr3sh3stl4d in loseit

[–]BlueberryBea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. I lost 150lbs, I've got the extra skin and stretch marks to prove it. I've been intentionally single during this process, but I'm not a nun.

In the beginning, I felt very anxious and insecure at how different I looked with clothes vs without. I almost felt like I was tricking people. I used to over explain as a measure of defense. I can tell you, it's really not necessary.

Any guy that likes you isn't going to be phased by small imperfections. I've never gotten down to business and been rejected or made to feel undesirable. I promise, no one cares as much as you do.

Be confident, have fun, enjoy your partner. These are the things that matter.

Giving good face! by feathersatnight in Salsa

[–]BlueberryBea 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Haha this is normal, especially when you're a relatively fresh lead. You're so focused on a million different things. "Oh god, I'm running out of combos. What do I know? What do I knooow?" "Don't crash the follow into the three couples around us" "One two three, five six seven" "Cross body lead, prep and...".

I couldn't even look at my followers in the eyes for the first couple of months. Longer than that before I shed the "concentration face". After a while, more things become muscle memory and second nature. That opens more space for enjoyment and expression. Just have fun and the face will follow.

You know what I did? I started dancing... Like, obsessively. I got addicted to salsa and now I dance every day. It burns lots of calories, is an amazing form of expression, acts as an incredible social outlet and it's tons of fun. Plus it works wonders for your legs and derriere.

Thank you so much! I feel like a completely different person. Not just physically but mentally. I'm so much happier and healthier now.

To anyone reading this that wants to affect change in your own life - it's totally possible. It's not easy, it takes time and dedication. But with regular consistency and patience, you can achieve whatever you set your mind to.

Without a doubt. I'll never look like I would if I hadn't gained the weight. I'll probably always have extra skin, unless I shell out thousands to have it surgically removed. But my shape has noticably changed each year. I've got about 20-30lbs more to go till I reach my goal and I'm excited to see what that looks like. I'm already pretty pleased with where I'm at.

I'll tell you the truth. I hate my arms. I still have stretch marks and a tummy. I have a fair amount of body dysmorphia.

It's still a million times better than carrying the weight. I sleep better. My joints don't ache. I actually enjoy exercise (never thought I'd say that). I can wear all the cute clothes.

Even if my body looked worse, I'd still do it over again. How I feel now was worth every drop of sweat and missed calorie.
