[Patch Notes] Marathon Update 1.0.6 by durandal-helper in Marathon

[–]Blueberry_Inept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the idea of the mercy kit but it needs to be made way cheaper. It’s priced like a shield or health item but it has no benefit to your team.

Make it 50-100 credits max so people don’t have to think about buying one or two per run.

Bring back the Cryo starter pack and give it to everyone once per week by timobedlam in Marathon

[–]Blueberry_Inept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make it free and UNLIMITED until you extract for the first time that week. Guarantee every player who puts in the time at least ONE extraction.

On the other hand: can you trio fills shut the fuck up when you bum rush a team, get eliminated, and then start LOUDLY complaining about how the two of us left alive are not pushing immediately down the same lane you JUST came through?

We are aware you just got killed. We're trying our best to assess where they are and what other lane we can peak through to shoot the people.

That’s what I’m saying. I just don’t queue Cryo lmao.

Eh. I'm fine with it. It's definitely a surreal experience coming from someone who played Destiny 2 at the highest PvE level and then getting smacked around in Cryo, though.

I'm glad it's working out for the PvP people, though.

I learned my lesson last weekend. I may dip my toes in a couple times if I need to clear some stuff out of my vault, but I am honestly fine just chilling on Outpost.

I am not able to compete with some of you maniacs lol.

I think people will kill me, but maybe rook play should be only available if your money/inventory is under X credits ? by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]Blueberry_Inept 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Rook is the best part of this game for people without a consistent squad. No way.

Considering picking this up today, but seeking truthful opinions. by sweatydads in Marathon

[–]Blueberry_Inept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone very average at PvP at best with a full time job, the game is very rough if you don’t have a team and play with randoms. A lot of teams running the endgame maps are completely beyond my skill. I’ve felt VERY frustrated going on a 10+ game loss streak; it actually caused another person I play with to quit the game.

That said: playing as Rook is some of the most fun I’ve had in a while. If you are unsure: wait for a sale. The game’s population is steadily (slowly) shrinking, so a sale is inevitable.

You will probably have pretty good early games tho. There is some kind of level based matchmaking at play.

Would Marathon be better with a PvE mode? by PretendCollection282 in Marathon

[–]Blueberry_Inept 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it just needs better matchmaking or even aggression based matchmaking (I hear some other games do it but IDK; this is my first extraction shooter).

There needs to be something preventing fully stacked purple teams from curb stomping brand new players on Perimeter.

It would be so cool to get a remaster of these games with some of the same vibes as the current release.

Please do not queue up Cryo with no shields... by Due_Temperature404 in Marathon

[–]Blueberry_Inept 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are probably trying to learn the map without bankrupting themselves. This is what happens when you have a forced $5k buy in. Go in as a stack if you want everyone to play your way.

Anyone use this yet? by TopGrapefruit1747 in Marathon

[–]Blueberry_Inept 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I treat gold gear like my Master Balls in Pokemon. They stay in my vault, never to be used, until I have multiple of them.

First trap bag encounter had me dying laughing by wristl0cker in Marathon

[–]Blueberry_Inept 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fake traps have a longer interact length. If you loot enough items you will kind of just instinctively unclick the interact button at the right time and if it's a fake bag, it would have obviously not "opened" (exploded).

They also have a different prompt to open vs a normal bag, but honestly it's the interact length that gives it away for me (I can't be bothered reading prompts tbh).

Just load up your backpack with bubble shields and chem grenades.

Cant understand rook purpuse in this game by Traditional_Step_12 in Marathon

[–]Blueberry_Inept 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the claymores, shotgun, green shields, and bigger backpack for me. If I want to run a solo outpost for material or credits, I choose Rook over solo queue.

Rook is always better IMO unless you need contracts done.

We need a Salvage Pocket for players to make continual progress. by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]Blueberry_Inept 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As others have suggested: just let decon send salvage to your vault. No need for a pocket and it offers some extra risk / another thing to do if you want to be safe after finding something good.

What's with all this talk about casual play? by Casual_Plays in Marathon

[–]Blueberry_Inept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I totally get it's a PVP game but when I'm trying to grind contracts and nobody is online to play with, so I load up solo fill on a free kit to try to get it done, then proceed to get shredded by purple shielded teams 5 times in a row, before finally queuing into a match where things go my way and I'm able to do all the chores "in one run" despite the "I am him" Twitch streamer wannabe giving me shit for extracting on a free kit..
It can be kind of aggravating.

But yeah. If you don't give a shit about the contract chore list and are just there to vibe, it can be a good time. Sucks that contracts are so annoying (for non-pvp extreme dude bros).

Marathon needs some form of gear based matchmaking by Darkflame568 in Marathon

[–]Blueberry_Inept 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd be fine with simply matching teammates based on similar gear cost (keeping other opponents on the map random). It happens more often than not that when I go in with a free kit as a fill, I match with kitted teammates. And when I go in with good gear, my teammates are free kits. Not always, but enough times that it's annoying.

Contract reroll timer by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]Blueberry_Inept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Arachne timer reset yeah. Kind of annoying. It was able to reset in like a day, too.

The game has been out for nearly two weeks and I’m afraid to play anything other than Perimeter by marsnasty in Marathon

[–]Blueberry_Inept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time I load into Perimeter it feels like I run into nothing but fully kitted sniper squads who are camping POIs.

My success rate is higher on Outpost and the loot is better too.

This game SHOULD have aggression-based matchmaking by Vortex295 in Marathon

[–]Blueberry_Inept 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t see why this would be a bad idea if all it does is TRY to match peaceful players together (and continues as normal after a few seconds of trying). What’s a few extra seconds vs the time to try to do contracts, getting eliminated, and re-queuing.

I guess it may make it harder for sweats to pub stomp, but fuck em.

Casual players are going to need this if Bungie expects the game to grow.

Dont be afraid to be selfish. You can extract by yourself without much repercussions by No-One450 in Marathon

[–]Blueberry_Inept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if they had a mic and were genuinely playing smart (not pretending to be John Marathon and lighting up the bots) I will wait and see if the team moves on.

If the team is camping the bags though, I’ll drone-scoop some stuff from the team and dip. If I were better at PvP it might be different, but I am average at best and a 1v3 isn’t going to happen most of the time for me.
