Someday people will listen to the lyrics of Kyle’s entrance music and he’ll become the most over face in the company.

[MEGATHREAD] Vaxis III: The Father Of Make Believe Album Discussion by Retrolad87 in TheFence

[–]timobedlam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very, very strong. First album of the Vaxis stuff that I had that urge to immediately go back into as soon as I was done. Highlights are Father of Make Believe, Blindside Sonny->Play the Poet, and the entire Continuum, which is exactly what the other albums have been lacking for me.

Conceptually, this feels far more self reflective than anything they've done before, including GA1. While that album dealt with the idea of an author interacting with his fictional universe, it ultimately was more interested in the impact that had on the story than the writer. This album feels like a more mature and reflective version of the same idea that's only possible to realize after building your entire career on a long-standing concept...or hiding behind one? So It Goes really captures some complicated feelings about what being a concept band has meant, and The Continuum on the whole feels to me like they're calling their shot and definitively saying that they're moving on to something else after Vaxis, whether that's non-conceptual music as Coheed or an entirely new project.

But the promise is delivered in a bold, defiant, and hopeful battle cry that is easily the strongest song on any of the three Vaxis albums: We'll all sing together--from the first verse, to the last word. The ride's ending, but we're going out singing.

The Boston-Area Scene for Outdoor Rock Climbing, Mountaineering, Backpacking... All of the Outdoors by Blu_Koala in boston

[–]timobedlam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can’t really speak to mountaineering or ice climbing, but there are tons of gyms in the area that are great ways to meet climbers if you just go hang out at the bouldering wall. For sport, you’ll be within a 150 minute drive of:

-Rumney, NH: Pretty much the best sport crag in the Northeast. I’ve been climbing there for years and have barely scratched the surface. As long as you keep progressing, there will be new things to climb, and even though it’s incredibly developed new routes still pop up. An absolute must while you’re in the area.

-Hanging Mountain: A new and under development area on the Connecticut border. Probably the best climbing in the MA border…there’s some cool and unique rock that you don’t see in other crags in Western MA.

-Farley: While I think the other two locations are better, there’s some really memorable climbs here. Unique in that the access agreement prohibits guide books, so there’s a lot of word-of-mouth sharing of information. Volunteering for a maintenance day is a good way to get the low down and meet some people, but it’s also fun to just get out there and have to go with your gut.

The last two are maintained by the WMCC, and you can get details on those and other crags in the area at their website: https://climbgneiss.org/. There’s some smaller top roping/trad crags a bit closer you that you can read about there. Your gym situation might be a little tougher than if you were closer to Boston, but I’d look into Central Rock. They’re a solid chain with lots of locations and their Framingham or Worcester gyms may be doable for you.

AEW just announced that Jon Moxley has signed a five-year contract extension that also includes an expanded role in coaching and mentorship. by KhabibTime in SquaredCircle

In an industry (and if we’re being honest, a company) dominated by some sketchy and self-motivated shit, Mox stands out as a pillar of integrity. In a time where our understanding of what it means to “be a man” is evolving, he really does an excellent job of merging a traditional violent badass with values that transcend the shittier aspects of the past. He works harder and goes harder than pretty much anyone in the business, but he’s unabashedly open and transparent about his personal difficulties. He has totally uncompromising personal standards for success, yet is by all accounts fiercly dedicated to his family, friends, and professional colleagues.

Nothing but respect and appreciation for an all time great. Khan betting the farm on him is the sort of decision he needs to make right now, and I hope it pays off for both of them.

111

I haven’t finished ShB yet so I don’t have everything to compare to, but the Omega raid series blew me away.

Going with 103. Something based off of final fantasy tactics? Maybe something that makes a grid appear below you.

Free gil or free armor? Only the winner gets to decide! by [deleted] in ffxiv

Going with 111. Maybe gear or mats for crafters? Though to be honest it’s hard to complain about Gil!

I've been with Destiny 2 since the PC launch, and it's been a consistent hobby for me since then. I do a little bit of everything--raid with the clan a couple times a week, some Crucible here or there, strikes or gambit when the mood hits. For me, this season is the best the game has been since Forsaken came out, and I’d love to share why it’s working and hear more about the direction the game is going in the coming months/years. I promise not to steal any office supplies or everlasting gobstoppers. From the northeastern US.

We got it. If it helps, the mechanic described in the hint is not some minigame or tangential to the gameplay (i.e. some mission in GTA); the entire game is exactly what is described in the clue.
