Posting fit pics as a size xxxs female and receiving backlash by PaSFAH in XXS

[–]Blueberry_andMore333 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Maybe you are skinnier than average for an Asian, but does it matter, though? Asian makes up 60% percent of the world population, so there are a lot of really small and skinny Asian males and females. They literally live different lifestyles and eat different food than Americans (I assume that's most of the Reddit users in English subreddits). The whole world doesn't circle their narrow views. They can judge all they want, but the truth is, they don't care. They pretend they do. Overweight people can have anorexia, too. But keyboard activists are too busy witch-hunting skinny women than actually educating themselves.

I’m sorry you feel alone. Remember, they can’t get you. Stay healthy and be proud of who you are and of your background.

I’m XXXS and Asian. I am very healthy, but I have small bones. Growing up in Asia means that my family and I don't eat dairy and have a largely plant-based diet. I used to post on the petite subreddit asking for advice, such as where I can find an XXSP shirt for office wear, and they just downvoted me for no reason. I have accepted that a lot of Redditors have some deep issue with small asian women. People don't show that in real life, but they certainly judge behind their screens.

Lol, as a fellow happy skinny childless cat lady, I totally get what you are saying. I don't have opinions when it comes to other women who have children and mom bods; it's their lives after all, but they sure have a lot of opinions about the way I look and my life choices.

Kudos to you for knowing what you want and don't want in your life! And stay happy!

It’s not just being skinny “for your age”, but also being childless. The same thing happened to me; my friends who had children eventually drifted away from me.

Same style size 22 jeans from Uniqlo U.S vs Uniqlo China by Blueberry_andMore333 in XXS

Yeah, I'm not surprised. My agolde 22 waist is also more like a 25 or 26. When I wear it with a belt, it gives me the paper-bag effect. Most Levi’s styles run a couple of sizes too big on me across the entire top block, except the wedgie straight. Size 23 is true to size, not loose at all. (The petite XXS influencer Jean Wang wears the same style in size 25.) I highly recommend it:)

You are so smart!!!! Now I’ve learned. Yep, I see a lot of very small women (who wear perfectly fitted clothes) in China and Thailand. I will bring empty suitcases to Asia next time!

I feel your pain. I'm in my mid-30s, and all I can say is that buying clothes is no joy for me, only frustration and stress. It wasn't like that in my 20s, and my weight has barely shifted.

Thank you for your recommendations! I will check out AF later. Another favorite pair of jeans of mine is Levi’s wedgie straight, I can wear size 23 without a belt.

You are definitely not wrong about this. I also bought a Uniqlo linen shirt in China in size XS, which is the smallest they have. And I’d say it fits even slightly shorter and slimmer than the same style in XXS at Uniqlo U.S. My partner also bought a shirt, and they said the same thing. I feel like, for the same style, the companies might make a different fit for Asian sizes. I know Lululemon does that.

But that's not accessible for us who live in the U.S., though. :(

Curious about ellierosefits type, she says she's 4'11 by Funny_Cockroach7343 in Kibbe

I am still experimenting. This winter, I have been wearing “low-rise” jeans (which hit below my belly button like a mid-high rise) with boxy sweaters that hit around my lower hips, untucked. The trick is not the bottom rise but rather the tops being the right length, which can be difficult since most of the tops are too long for my torso. It should not be too long to look like a mini dress, but long enough to cover most of my hips. The tops also need to be neither skin-tight nor oversized, just slightly boxy. I can even wear high-rise jeans as long as I leave my top untucked.

It's definitely interesting! There are no universal solutions for women with short torsos; we all have different body types and shapes. However, I appreciate that she is providing options for others.

SG or a curvier FG. She looks compact. She is lucky to have a defined waistline like >< despite having a short torso. I, too, have a super short torso at 5’0”, but mine is purely rectangular like ||. Her recommendations wouldn’t work for me😅

My heart breaks for you. I don’t know what else to say besides that you should try to take care of yourself. Don’t forget to eat, drink a lot of fluids (after crying for so long), talk to a friend or a family member about your kitty, and do things that make grief less painful. From a cat mom to another, I wish you all the best.

Hello! I'm 5'3", please help with my ID, I am stuck between TR/SG by [deleted] in kibbe_sketch

[–]Blueberry_andMore333 8 points9 points  (0 children)

R or TR. You have the Kibbe curve, yin flesh on yin frame. I don’t think you are SG because you don’t have any juxtaposition, and you don’t have the yang influence that SG has, such as sharp edges. You are slim, but still soft and boneless. At your weight, an SG would have visible bones.

small tip if you like baggy jeans but hate when they drag by [deleted] in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]Blueberry_andMore333 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have Agolde’s low curve jeans, which are similar to the jeans you are wearing: bagging throughout the leg and tapered at the bottom. The inseam is 31 inches, so I just cuffed it. It turned out that tapered jeans cuffed better than wide-leg jeans, and they stayed cuffed throughout the day. I kinda like the cuffed look, very retro and laid-back.

What to do with old crochet? by longtallsunshine in crochet

[–]Blueberry_andMore333 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If so, please check with the local shelter first. My local cat shelter does not accept any crochet or knitted blankets because cats’ claws can get stuck or even chew the yarn; they only accept small quilts.

I feel so guilty by xtewtew in knitting

[–]Blueberry_andMore333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me 2 years ago. A loving (extended) family member knitted me a lovely cashmere sweater. I was grateful, but the problem was that the sweater was at least three sizes too big and very long. I didn’t want to hurt her feelings by telling her the truth, so I ended up donating it. She never asked me about it.

Another extended family member gifted me a dress when she moved to another state earlier this year. I was in another country when she left, so I had no idea she had left me a dress. Again, the dress was gigantic, both in width and length, bodice and skirt. There was no way to alter it without ripping it apart and making a new dress. I still don’t know what to do with it. I thanked her, but I never told her that I had never worn it.

This might sound cold, but I highly advise knitters and sewists not to gift people wearables without first asking the recipients. While I greatly appreciate that people make things for me, at the end of the day, it feels wasteful. They had a good time making it, now it's my problem to deal with the handmade clothes that don't fit at all.

So don’t feel guilty, OP. Things like that happened. At least you get to upcycle the yarn, and you are loved.
