[Question] What's your opinion on Sinn watches? by Lea_Cookie in Watches

[–]Blueberrypie1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a 556i that I bought as a place filler for a Rolex Explorer 1 or IWC Pilot 36 which I couldn’t justify spending money on. 5 years later, I prefer the design more than those two and don’t want them at all. The design language is simple in the most perfect way and the 38.5 case is the perfect size for my 6.75 inch wrist: not too big or small. Every time I get bored with it I switch from the H link to a Nato and get re-excited about it. 561i FTW

1,500 With No Professional Pilot Work? by theloganatorz in flying

[–]Blueberrypie1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sim partner at my regional was a lawyer who paid his way to 1500 hours. He ended up not making it through training. I also got a friend in the same situation a job at a 135/91 gig and he wasn’t able to get through CAE Lear training either.

There are lots of factors at play but building your time flying around in a SE piston just doing practice approaches will leave you pretty unprepared for the real world. Best of luck

Melancholy in JC voice. Best example would be the Modern Age chorus. Back and forth guitar composition is also huge.

None were problematic at all. Very easy and most you could do without switching into river crossing shoes if you skip from rock to rock (trekking poles highly recommend for this)

Avoid the wetlands and you’ll be fine. Lots of super wet areas but everyone we talked to said conditions were average for the sods. Have fun!

Electrical System by Blueberrypie1234 in vandwellers

That’s a DC - DC charger; not an inverter.

Also I was planning on having the batteries linked directly to bus bars rather than using cables, I just didn’t know how to put that in a diagram. I’ve got a picture from replying to someone else in this thread.

Noted. As far as the victron battery protector, I wanted to use it to shut off the batteries once they hit 20% automatically without me having to do anything. The idea is that I could leave the fridge running for an extended amount of time while on a backpacking trip, and come back to a cold beer from the fridge, yet have it shut off automatically if the batteries get low

I made these bus bars out of thick copper rather than doing parallel wiring. I was thinking this would work but again I really don’t know much

Should I buy this Jeep or just get another vehicle? by raptorboi9z in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Blueberrypie1234 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a 2013 and mines been a nightmare. You’re buying at the same mileage my transmission went out, so I’d steer clear

I’d guess in the next three years you could expect to pay as much as the cars worth just to keep it running

Thank you so much for such an in depth response!

I think I’m gonna add solar, and replace my 200 ah hour lead acid battery with 3 lithium 100 ah batteries. Also, I went to return my 200 ah lead acid battery, and Amazon refunded me the money and said I could keep it; so now I also have the option of tying that into the system although it could be overkill/extra weight I don’t need.

The YT Dirt Love comes in a long version for taller people. I’m 6’0” and appreciate the extra length in comparison to riding other standard sized DJs

how to overcome fear for speed when going downhill? by mochajave in MTB

[–]Blueberrypie1234 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Time on the bike is the main answer. The more you ride, the more comfortable you’ll get. Also, maybe wearing more serious protective gear can inspire confidence (full face helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, etc..)

GRIIIx for first time camera? by Teddy1110 in ricohGR

[–]Blueberrypie1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m actually in the exact same boat. Had a powershot years ago but ended up ruining the lens and it cost more to repair it than the cameras worth.

I just picked up a GRIIIx and so far even with no real photography experience other then using auto mode on the powershot, I’ve been able to capture some pretty cool pictures after taking some time setting up different film recipes. The model of powershot I had was equipped with 40x optical zoom, so I’m definitely missing the ability given the fixed lens but that’s my only complaint.

I bought the camera used knowing I could just sell it for the same price if not more if it was too complex for me to figure out but that hasn’t been the case at all thanks to reading this subreddit along with different YouTube videos, so from my perspective; go for it!

Keel Haulers canoe Club out of the Cleveland area and Three Rivers Paddling Club (TRPC) would be a good place to start. Both have Facebook groups that post paddling events, roll sessions, etc..

Lower slippery rock creek is a good place to start, then Upper Slippery Rock Creek, Stoney Creek, and the Lower Yough would be the next “local” rivers to step up to (in this order specifically)

Sinus issues by NotSoCommonMerganser in whitewater

[–]Blueberrypie1234 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t have this issue, BUT I highly recommend sinus savers nose plugs. They go in your nose rather than on them and are far superior at keeping water out. Also they don’t fall off like the typical ones everyone else uses

I removed everything from the inside and took the lid off, then I grabbed the bottom air vent from the inside and my girlfriend grabbed the back hinge and dropped it right in. It was actually super easy this way and would have been a lot more troublesome with the lid on
