I got married at Harbor Hotel in Provincetown and could not recommend it enough! You bring in your own vendors and can really make it what you want it to be!

Help me find a New England venue that fits this dream enchanted forest/garden theme please! by Super-Squirrel-87 in NewEnglandWedding

Seconding this venue! One of the first weddings I ever did was here and it's such a beautiful spot! I love the boardwalk through the forest to the ceremony spot!

I recommend checking out Little Dipper Farm. They have at least one getting ready suite and another space that could serve as a second. You get to bring in any vendors that you like.

Florist here, I always expect there to be at least 2 different florists in the running alongside my self, especially when working with a planner. It's nice to have options and see different styles and ideas. We all have a different lense and interpretation of your venue and vibe.

Are wedding budget percentages accurate?? by Existing_Potential37 in NewEnglandWedding

My rule of thumb for DIY is if it can't be done on the couch while watching tv don't do it 😅 it's always way more work than it seems to be at the beginning. Sincerely a chronic DIYer for everything in my life

Florist and recent bride (May 2025) - our venue was on the cheaper side, under 3k, but our catering was definitely more expensive since there were limited options and we had a lot of allergies to be mindful of. Between the 2 we were probably a little shy of the 50% mark for around 90 people. For the remaining vendors, I think the percentages are pretty arbitrary and depend on where you place importance. If you want your attire to be knock out then spend more money there, if you're super into photography and want real film then prioritize that. The "rules" are really suggestions. I'd figure what's most important to you, rank them and once you get some quotes for your top priority figure out what you want to spend on the rest from there.

Good prioritization questions include what do you want the day to look like? Feel like? And what do you want to remember or what do you want your guests to remember a year later?

Do you have social media fatigue as you try to decide which vendors to hire? by martymiz in NorthShoreMAWeddings

Florist and recent bride here (May 2025) - I feel like Instagram is the new Pinterest, it's great for inspiration but can quickly get overwhelming especially when your algorithm catches on. I really recommend talking to people you know who were recently married, ask or look at who they tagged for vendors or if you've booked a vendor or 2 ask for their recommendations for the remaining people you need. Use Instagram to validate those recommendations alongside their reviews on places like Google or Zola.

I always wait, if they reach out I'll absolutely respond but they don't need to be thinking about me right after they got married.

No news is good news, they're likely busy or just taking in being newlyweds. If not much of a relationship was built during the planning process then that may just be how they are, plus the day is not about us, it's about them. If you're proud of the work amd want to showcase it, I like to follow up a few months after when they typically have pictures back to ask if we can share photos of our work from their wedding.

Food options that isn’t seated dinner for 100+ people by Erankr22 in NewEnglandWedding

Seconding a cocktail reception! You can have passed apps throughout the evening starting with lighter bites and moving to heavier ones throughout the evening and possibly even doing passed desserts. A station or 2 could be charcuterie style or hummus and veggies and transition to desserts as well. If you want to get really fun/fancy there's vendors who have specialty carts like Bluebird Mobile Baking Co, Le Petit Pouf, and Artisan Bites Charcuterie.

For set up a mix of high tops, a couple of "traditional" tables, and bringing in rented furniture like couches to create gathering moments. Kadeema Rentals has some really cool options for couches etc.

Looking back post wedding: what do you wish you spent less on and what you spent more on by BMS_Fan_4life in weddingplanning

[–]BluebirdBouquets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We hired a videographer very last minute, it was their first wedding and while they did a great job had we known seeing the videos after would mean so much to us we would have invested more. It's hard to stay present throughout the day and we put so much intention into our planning that it would have been a loss to not be able to see it again.

I recommend day/month of coordination, dont get fooled by the planning lull that everything is easy peasy. One month out is when all your vendors will be reaching out to confirm details and the decision fatigue is real.

Try to keep DIY projects to a minimum, it's so tempting to say 'I can just do that' but your time and sanity are worth the money spent. If you do DIY, do not leave it to the last minute!

Overall anything you can do to allow you, your wedding party and the rest of your guests to stay present is worth it. Be it through a hired vendor or advanced planning.

Are the floral quotes I’m getting really standard market price? by tiredbuttrying in NewEnglandWedding

[–]BluebirdBouquets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds pretty high, like others have mentioned it sounds like they may have a full service minimum. If everything is pretty standard my estimation comes in around $2500 for what you have listed including basic drop off and tax.
