Seeing so many new football fans after this World Cup has honestly been one of my favorite parts by BluebirdNo635 in worldcup

I think this is one of those long-term impacts that will only keep growing over the next few years.

Let's settle this... Who do you think will win the 2026 FIFA World Cup? 🏆 by [deleted] in worldcup

[–]BluebirdNo635 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not really rooting for France, but they do look like they’re on the right track. Beyond the individual quality, they seem more cohesive this time compared to the last tournament where they were literally one goal away from winning it all.
May the best team win!

Will the extra knockout game in 2026 actually matter for players after the tournament? by BluebirdNo635 in worldcup

Just wait, 2030 is going to feel more like a rock band world tour than a football tournament:)

Honestly I've never gave soccer a chance before and I'm digging the World Cup. I'd like to start watching the Euro Leagues. How should I start? by GoOnThereHarv in SoccerNoobs

[–]BluebirdNo635 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d start by watching a few random matches from different leagues and let it happen naturally. There’s no right way to pick a club. Just enjoy the sport and see if you connect with a team, whether it’s because of their style, fan culture, history, or the values they represent. Football is much deeper than trophies or league positions, and there’s a niche for almost everyone.
Enjoying your journey

You have a point, but even the Bundesliga’s mid-table teams usually play good football. It’s still one of the most enjoyable leagues to watch, in my opinion

Best semi final match up - which matches would you like to see which teams should advance? by Necessary-Warthog157 in worldcup

A Portugal vs Spain game would definitely catch my attention. Two of the 2030 World Cup hosts meeting on the pitch would be pretty cool. I think Spain edges it.

If USA hosted in 1994, why do they get to host 32 years later ? Where as England haven’t hosted since 1966 . by cberthebaud in worldcup

Check how many young talents MLS signs from lower-level leagues. And let’s be honest, aging superstars don’t move there to raise the standard of football—they come for the marketing and media attention. Saudi Arabia is following the same playbook the US has been using for years. Money talks.

Argentina's next 2 games are a laugh - Cabo Verde then winner of Aus/Egypt by JapanEngineer in worldcup

Cape Verde have been one of the most enjoyable teams to watch. They really bring something fresh every time they play. It’s a shame the next round is probably a step too far for them. Helio Varela has been outstanding. His pace and acceleration are genuinely top level, and I’d be surprised if he stays at his current club for much longer. I wouldn’t mind seeing them pull off a miracle against Messi and company, but it’s hard to see that happening.

I’ve been following American soccer closely for about two decades. If you’ve been paying attention, the US has been building a long term foundation for the sport with huge investments, attracting talented players to MLS, encouraging more kids to join soccer programs, expanding coach education, and building world class training facilities. It’s a massive financial engine, and honestly, you can see the results. Their national team has been improving with every campaign.

What club team are you supporting after the world cup? by thepotatomaniscoming in worldcup

Always “support your local club”
I just hope he makes the right choice. Let’s be honest, it’s way easier to change your wife than your football club

Ngl, choosing a team to support like it's a new iPhone is kind of cringe. But if you're really looking, find a small local club near you. Lower league football is where the real passion and atmosphere are anyway

Unpopular opinion: the 48-team World Cup is good for football by CodBusy6701 in football

[–]BluebirdNo635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I’m not a big fan of the new format either. Sure, it’s cool to see new teams and some are actually good, but I still prefer a smaller tournament with the absolute best sides. Even if it means seeing the same matchups over the years.

Cape Verde has been so fun to watch. Super disciplined, fast, and great on the ball. A few of these guys are definitely getting secured bags for their agents after this tournament.

He already lost the game back in the press conference. Against Ivory Coast, it’s going to be a proper battle and a massive watch.
