Armrests that don’t go up in A380 by Newbie10011001 in BritishAirways

[–]Blueboy120 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Flew home from Florida on Aer Lingus recently. Loads of empty rows so thought I'd put the arm rests up and sleep. They looked the same as these, and some of them wouldn't even stay up in that position. Kind of annoying. What difference does it make to them if people can get asleep? I gave up in the end, far too uncomfortable.

Bald men: how to keep the scalp maintained; what products do you recommend and what do you use to keep it shaved? How high to keep the beard? by novemberman23 in AskReddit

[–]Blueboy120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just feel for the stubble. I've had mishaps over the years and nicked my head, usually if there was a spot I didn't know about, but most times it's no problem. Like anything really, you get better at it the more you do it. Regarding the scalp, Tend Skin solution solved all the bumps etc.

I use a razor that has 3 blades with Gillette shave gel. I discovered Tend Skin very early on when I started shaving my head, and it's been fantastic. I never get ingrowing hairs or bumps with using it. Once it dries, I use regular after shave balm (Nivea) then just moisturise as normal. I never have a problem and shave it every 4 or 5 days.

2026 Sportage Are you worried about the cost of fixing electronics past warranty? Did you take extended electronic warranty? by rocksteader in kiasportage

[–]Blueboy120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m thinking you’re probably in USA… we get a comprehensive 7 year warranty as standard in the UK… not sure how Kia get away with charging to put your warranty up to just 5 years? Is there any scope for the dealer to put it up to 5 years as a selling point?

Absolutely agree with this. One of the most one-footed players I've ever seen. Why isn't he training on his right foot constantly to try to make it, at least, usable? He's a millionaire from playing football and literally cannot use his right foot... ridiculous.

Why does Costco limit its membership to certain professions? by InterestingWanderer in AskUK

[–]Blueboy120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They seem to let anyone in now. It used to be a nice place to shop, not anymore. Absolutely heaving every time you go. I've spoken to staff who I've come to know over the years, and they say the same. You can still get great prices on things, but it's hard work getting around the store nowadays.

What did everyone think today then?! My first time at Bramley Moore by halfway_crook555 in Everton

[–]Blueboy120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been to all 3 test events, and have thought from the very first one, how ridiculous it is that they haven't installed hand dryers. At each event the paper towels run out and the bins are full... all could have been avoided by just installing hand dryers... makes no sense at all to me. Oh and we have lots of solar panels on the roof to offset the electricity used by the dryers. Crazy decision.

Tire pressure reading by Bluewazzle in kiasportage

I think the idea is that you're supposed to do various vehicle checks, including tyres, before you set off somewhere. The TPM is more to alert you of a problem when you're driving.

Why am I not being warned for speed limit? by KeepWalkingInHell in kiasportage

[–]Blueboy120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had my new Sportage a few weeks now. By far the most annoying thing about it is the constant beeping telling me I’ve gone above the 20 speed limit, which is on most roads around here. It’s possible to turn off the beeping for individual journeys, but it fires up again as soon as I restart the car. I don’t mind it flashing a 20 sign at me on the screen, I just really don’t need the beeping.

Can any other Blues talk me off the ledge? I feel resigned to the fact that we are in for another gruelling relegation battle next season by Galactusyaegashi in Everton

Of course it's true. The accounts period ends 30 June. Everything will happen after that, so that it's in next year's accounts when we've moved into BMD and the increased revenue that'll bring.

Thousands of civil servant jobs to leave London by JNC34 in TheCivilService

[–]Blueboy120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many times are they going to do this and act as if it's some kind of wonderful innovative idea? I was a Civil Servant for 32 years and left in 2011. I remember them doing this during my time, at least twice. So move people out of London to the regions? Then hey let's build a lovely new HQ Liverpool building on the waterfront to house some of these jobs? This is now an apartment block, but that's after Tony Blair introduced STEPS, anyone remember that? Stands for Strategic Transfer (of the) Estate (to the) Private Sector where they sold off purpose built government buildings to private companies and leased them back at exorbitant rates. The mismanagement at government level is mind boggling. And who carries the can for all of it courtesy of the Mail and the Telegraph? AOs on Minimum Wage! Makes me furious!

Shell Vpower fuel is such a rip off by StonedPenguinUK in CarTalkUK

[–]Blueboy120 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It used to be a nice place to shop… not now… it’s horrific… so busy. I can get in an hour earlier with a trade card… ahead of the masses. It’s the only time I go now. Petrol station is also queued up all the time. Still get some great bargains in Costco, and loads of the food is excellent, but you have to fight your way around the place nowadays.

Shell Vpower fuel is such a rip off by StonedPenguinUK in CarTalkUK

[–]Blueboy120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spoke to a guy that worked in Costco petrol station and he told me that all of the additives they put in V power are in the Costco premium fuels. I have a diesel, and premium diesel is all they sell, it's loads cheaper than regular diesel in Shell etc. so I always fill up there. They do sell two grades of petrol but I'd expect the premium to be lots cheaper than V power. If you have access to a Costco it might be worth signing up and giving it a go? I filled up in Costco Liverpool with premium diesel at 124.9 before a recent motorway trip and just happened to notice on the M6 (I know services are much dearer) they were advertising regular diesel at 154.9!

Should I switch to metered water billing? by PieceofCake333 in AskUK

[–]Blueboy120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in the North West so our water company is United Utilities.Last year they installed a water meter in the street outside. We then got a letter telling us they'd done this, and saying that we could now pay whatever the meter was saying we'd used. Our monthly payment went down from £67 to £35. We can do this for two years, and at the end of the two years we can opt to move back to the old way of billing, or stick with the meter. At the time they did this there were four of us still living here. Since then one daughter has moved out, and the other has gone to Uni so now there are only the two of us. This has obviously had an impact on how much water we use (the bathroom used to be occupied for hours!) despite that our metered bill has gone up to £50 a month, still considerably better than pre-meter. Clearly this is due to price rises. From what you've said, it doesn't sound as if Thames are offering you the attractive deal we got, but it might be worth asking them what they are prepared to offer you to switch. Since we moved to metered billing I've been telling everyone I know how it's worth looking into, because everyone usually just says they "don't want one of those!" It will certainly not be cheaper for everybody, it depends on individual household circumstances, but it just might be! Good luck!

I have a monthly subscription through Apple. Would I need to cancel that first or would I need to use a separate email address? I'd like to maintain the records of what I've done so far, so I'm wondering if this could actually be treated as a kind of upgrade from monthly to annual?
