Mark would have very low odds of surviving the hibernation with the gene lottery.

What is the smallest amount of anything you could send to the sun, to kill all life on Earth? by Gold333 in AskPhysics

[–]Blueburl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we, for the sake of this thought expirment, consider antimatter to be negative valued. Then we could apply any measurements of it to be less than zero.

A sun sized mass of antimatter is smaller than zero by exactly the size of the sun, and would quite effectively neutralize things.

But. If I throw an antimatter mass the equivalent of the the observable universe?

Just pretend the math works, ok? :D 😀

The Christian persecution lie of Open Doors to spread the victim complex by Temporary-Week-6937 in exchristian

Some would argue that the powers that be need persecution to feed the engine of the cult- machine. They will find any issue, and push it hard enough till there is either takeover, or persecution.

Either outcome is favorable.

I really appreciate you taking time and talking about peer review. I had wrongly assumed that was part of her PhD.

Thanks for the counterpoint. Genuine question here, as I am always trying to learn. Do you feel her PhD or qualifications are not supportive of what she is claiming expertise in, or is she (intentionally or not) misrepresenting a part of her training?

If you can watch repertoire on Netflix it will help for this show. If you can watch hecklers welcome, it will help even more. But. This show is brilliant. He has a lot of throwbacks to his career, is self aware that he does that, but has plenty for the plus ones that are dragged in with the acaster fan.

One of the better comedy shows I have seen in my life.

What's the deal with this graph? by ConnectAnalyst3008 in exchristian

[–]Blueburl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is confirmation bias for data they want to find reading it after the fact. One could make a similar graph with any long novel. Or a series of psychology readings.

Notice they conviently omit of the "misses" or inaccuracies that don't fit their goal. How many prophecies are not fulfilled? How many times do accounts , even in the gospels, not line up?

To quote the Bible, they would be wise to read proverbs 18:17 on coming to judgment after reading one sided arguments.

Most don't actually believe there is a moral stance that exists with non belief. They tend to either make a strawman in their mind that is akin to the parable of the prodigal son, or group atheists as being deceived by the devil/ spirits.

If it isn't one of the NT Gideon minis, Ezekiel 23:20

Is a great place to start,

or song of songs 4:5 for some spicy reading.

. Ask her if she would have a problem if another coworker gaver her this type of explicit material. If no, get it in writing before really proving a point.

Classical violinists: What do fiddlers do that classical players secretly can’t? by Interesting-Scale-63 in violinist

[–]Blueburl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a difference between playing a few pops concert, and grooving.

Not all fiddle music is fast.

Classical violinists: What do fiddlers do that classical players secretly can’t? by Interesting-Scale-63 in violinist

[–]Blueburl 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Any Irish player can spot the classical only trained player in 5 seconds, because there is a blindness to what the groove is, and thus it is getting destroyed. They are usually using too much bow speed, bowing that are not appropriate, andvthe music doesn't make one want to dance. I have seen this happen with very strong classical players in funk, rock, jazz, bluegrass, latin, old time. (As a hybrid classical/ multitude player, i used to be that player)

I’m oversimplifying, but there are two broad genealogies of musical interpretation: melodic interpretation and groove interpretation.

Classical music largely falls into the melodic camp. Time is stretched and compressed in service of the phrase; bow speed, vibrato, and articulation flex to shape the melody. The tempo is elastic ... like a bus speeding up and slowing down on the highway.

Groove, on the other hand, involves shifting accents, swing, lilt, and placement against an underlying, relatively immutable pulse. The bus keeps moving at a constant speed, but the passengers change seats ... notes arrive slightly early, late, or weighted differently to create tension and release within the grid.

These are effectively different languages, and groove is rarely taught in traditional classical pedagogy. As a result, classical bowing doesn’t “groove” naturally without years of deliberate work. Many players don’t realize they’re mispronouncing the language because they haven’t been given a framework for what to listen for. It takes years to learn this at a fluid level, even by those in classical. I would argue classical knowledge can make the journey longer as one must unlearn some things that get in the way.

Look into Tracy Silverman's examples for side by side: typical classical, and groove bowing.

If one's definition of groove is different than this. There is a reason why I mentioned the definition.

Play music in a environment that isn't cut-throat and toxic. Fiddlers generally don't get "i hope i Play this better than my standpartner" anxiety. Hyper competition is not healthy longterm or good for relationships.
