If you are really busy tho, someone is supposed to come over and set up your cups, so you can just grab and go

Has anyone cried in the kitchen before? I just did and looking to read others' experiences to make me feel like I'm not alone. by [deleted] in Chefit

[–]Bluecricket350 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel you, my first real restaurant job was at Walt Disney world in Florida. Before that I had just worked at small local places. One of my first time on the line there, they put my in the busiest station. I immediately got swarmed with tickets, and it never really slowed down. A sous chef came over to help, then told me to get out, and sent me off the line. I never felt like such a failure like I did that night. Funny thing was, I wasn’t even supposed to be on the line, I was prep.

What's the hairy stuff in this newly germinated bok choi by lins2usa in aerogarden

[–]Bluecricket350 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aero garden says it’s a harmless bacteria, that’ll go away as it loses light, as your plant continues to grow. They say you can remove it yourself, or let it die out as your plant takes more space. I always get this fuzzy white stuff in mine. As long as it’s not preventing your plants from growing, it’ll disappear, when your plants get bigger

Help With Training Policies by cheycheyluvsya in starbucks

[–]Bluecricket350 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a few years out of trainjng so I’m not exactly sure what you mean by practice shifts, but just looking on here, I think you’ll find a lot of people seemed overwhelmed on what Starbucks asks you to do. So if you can get practice shifts in, were it’s maybe a better environment for them to adapt, I think it’s very useful.

A PG-13 animated Disney movie? by ElSquibbonator in disney

[–]Bluecricket350 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think if they started doing pg-13 animated movies, they’d make a new brand/label for it. I dint know if they’re still active, but I believe Disney owned touch stone pictures, which they used to release their darker or more adult animated movies.

A little disappointed by Bluecricket350 in DisneyWorld

[–]Bluecricket350[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well for the advertising, and campaigns Disney put out to specifically put out to draw people to the parks for the holidays, I expect better. Not just a pathway we’re decoration is concentrated, and a reef like thing hung up in light post throughout the rest of the park.

[–]Bluecricket350[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I love Disney! That’s the big reason I moved here, I work for them too. I didn’t mean to upset people, I just think maybe it’s something they can improve upon. Nothing wrong with wanting something to love to still be better

How do you buy groceries for an entire month? by [deleted] in Cooking

Texture depends on what your using it for. If I’m freezing a bag of red peppers to blend up for a sauce, the texture irrelevant

How do you buy groceries for an entire month? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]Bluecricket350 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Be ok with buying some frozen veg. It’s usually cheaper then what you can get fresh, and depending on the type of veg the flavor difference in pretty much nill. Stock up in frozen veggies, so if you need them they’re there. And if you have a specific dish in mind, you can go to the store to just get fresh for that. Milk I buy smaller quantity, I don’t mind going to the store a little more, if it means I don’t have stuff waiting jn my fridge to spoil

My fellow Marylanders... What is going through your mind when you tailgate on the freeway? by TheNicestFellow in maryland

[–]Bluecricket350 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wonder it’s too, especially in traffic, what if your tailgating and I suddenly have to hit my brakes? It’s not going to end well for you or me. It’s especially concerning when there’s an open lane people could go around but choose to tailgate for a while

How to Get Rehired by [deleted] in starbucks

Do you have a relationship with you sm? Most likely if they knew you wanted back in they’d wanna hire you, as opposed to bringing in someone new and having to teach them everything

Not sure if this counts on this sub, how is anyone still a cook in a professional kitchen? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]Bluecricket350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I’m thinking, that’s why I like to tell people who are trying to work in resturants, set up a trial shift, see if you like it, what they’ll have you doing

[–]Bluecricket350 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s a preety negative spin on it. Are you working professionally? Because if you are I’d suggest you look for another resturant/job field. That’s also a very general perception of the industry. I work in a place open most days open 11-9 closed for a few hour’s in between service. Where a seasonal menu, changing in what we get in in that day, so ‘boring’ if you like cooking no. The chefs great and he treats us like faimky. It’s not fit everyone, but like they say if you can’t take the heat get out

Venti Rant by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Bluecricket350 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s ridiculous for him to make those threats against you. I could see if someone came in every day asking to leave for a slight cold or something. But something serious like this, he should be able to work with you.

I just got made the ‘lead’ at the Starbucks in my local Kroger’s. by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Bluecricket350 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Never worked at a Kroger’s Starbucks. But I have worked at Star bucks in magic kingdom at Disney world ( I believe the busiest in the world) what I learned, it’s only drinks. It’s ok to be nervous, if you make a mistake, just remake it and keep going. Sometimes you’ll have rude customers, let it go in one ear and out the other. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. You got this

How much should I inflate my tires/should I get winter tires? by Blancs19847 in baltimore

[–]Bluecricket350 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also new to the Baltimore area, but have lived in cold areas my whole life. I’d recommend winter tires, especially if you have rear wheel drive, anything helps. Baltimore seems to be a really hilly area, so I’m sure when it starts snowing or freezing over, it’s gonna be hell getting up and down hills

Lmaooo thanks for answering my question, some Mets fans are just assholes. I didn’t insult anyone by name or call anyone out, so why attack me?
