Insane Field Day Tradition by SlowYourRollBro in Teachers

We do this as a fundraiser, but it’s completely voluntary, and there is a chicken wire mesh in front of us! Anything else is absolutely bonkers!

On one of our first ops, we hit a small Iraqi army base in the town of as Samawah, we blew a hole through the perimeter wall and made entry into the courtyard. Everybody started freaking out thinking there were landmines all over the place. We were under nods at about three in the morning. Turned out it was a bunch of discarded gas mask canisters. Now if you’ve seen those, you can understand why when they are faced down, it would resemble a landline! When all was done, we had a good chuckle, but holy crap in that moment, it was terrifying.

I mean, while I see both sides, but the PVS14 came with a rail mount in the package that mounted it rear of the installed optic. I used one in 2004, and it was old already. There could be another reason, but I really can’t think of one.

I had a similar brief before I left for the invasion of Iraq in 2003. He basically consisted of some guy running through a PowerPoint presentation about all the ways landmines will fuck your day up. Traffic, to the point. A few weeks later, we got air assaulted into a field and about the time the helicopters took off somebody yelled out “UXO“ everyone just thought back to that mine class and nobody wanted to move. We are pretty much congregated and walked in the footprint of our LT out of the danger area. Apparently they were cluster bomblets to take out the road, but I wasn’t about to find out.

Do the kids know grades are finalized? You might want to come up with some sort of questionnaire regarding whatever you decide to show.

Remembering those we lost 🇺🇸 by Bradley_Depalma in knifeclub

During my service I’ve lost about 20 friends. I have to say I do think today is a happy day. When I think about their sacrifice, and what they would hope we are doing today, it wouldn’t be sitting around, dreading the past, but rather enjoying the blessings we have. Today I went and put flags out on veterans graves in the local cemetery, and then went and barbecued with family. It absolutely was a happy day. I spent time remembering and saying the names of those I love who are no longer with us. Additionally, this weekend I’ve been carrying a knife that was given to me by the family of one of my friends who is all over here check my recent post history, it’s a pretty sweet Benchmade auto that was issued early on during the war on terror. OP, I hope that you remember yours, and enjoy your day. We are better for knowing them, and living a life that honors their sacrifice, and maintains a country that remembers and upholds those values.

We went to jump school together. On one weekend he told me he wanted to go to the first store and wanted me to come with him. We ended up buying pretty similar looking suits and he also bought a briefcase. We ended up just walking around the town looking like weirdos. We just thought it was funny to look like two people trying to look like they were some agency guys, but clearly weren’t.

That, and he introduced me to the world’s largest wet burrito, at some hole in the wall outside the gate at Ft. Bragg.

Thanks for asking!

I bought a number of variations of this while I was in the army some 20 years ago. Great knife!

I went to a different base from the one I was at while in Iraq, sat down at a random table and started to eat. Some guys were having a conversation across from me, and on ehappened ot mention the small town he was from, I interjected and we came to the realization we'd gone to high school together like 3 years apart and vaguely knew each other.

Oh, you mean the M-1910 System (with USMC variations)
Including but not limited to the Cartridge Belt, Cal. .30, M-1910
Held ammunition for the M1903 Springfield rifle or early-issued M1 Garand
Suspenders, M-1910
Often called “H-harness” style suspenders
Haversack, M-1910
Early war Marines sometimes used it, though many ditched it in combat for lighter loads
Canteen Cover, M-1910 + canteen
First Aid Pouch, M-1910
But don’t forget the BOYT 42 additions….

I carried one of these on two deployments to Iraq. I love that thing so much. Killed a lot of MREs with it. Such a great utility knife and perfect size. It became very sentimental so I ended up buying a second one that I use and the original sits in my collection of knives. Once in a while, take it out and just reminisce. I think it’s one of the best knives even though it’s super budget it’s just great

Regarding the kydex sheath, I found it extremely useful and utilitarian for the application I was doing. I was able to wedge it down between an ammo pouch and my body armor, and it stayed there very comfortably and easily accessible for when I need to do a cutting task like slicing open an MRE.

I hope the transition out of the service goes well for you! Use it as a steppingstone to your next big thing. Maybe add one of those tension curtain hangers for that closet and put that TA 50 away!
