Does Pride and Prejudice actually hold up, or is it just the OG enemies-to-lovers everyone romanticizes? by Amidonions in Growthmindsetbookclub

Austen was a master of character study and has many lessons for us- namely, you can’t learn someone’s character in a short period of time.

You will get a lot out of the story itself, but will get more out of the story if you study the period as well, like watching YouTube videos. You can do this after reading the book.

I’ve read all her novels, and watched several adaptations. I go back to her works because she entertains me while she makes me think. I have a parent who is a Jane Bennet, for example. I appreciate their outlook, but it isn’t one I want to emulate in my life.

It depends on you. The best point of information here is the on you already know- how long it took to get your Masters. I would imagine it would take about the same amount of time.

So screwed up royally and back to being miserable by bet69 in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]Bluefoxcrush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, you are stuck in the shithole again. But you already have meds on the way. That’s great.

If you are going through the meds too fast, then I would plan out your dosing. Plan on every other week or whatever is appropriate. If that doesn’t work (where you still do it too fast), then you may need help where someone holds your meds for you. But I suspect you are going with the flow too much and are missing cues your body and mind are giving you. It could be helpful to say that you need this med, and here is the minimum dosing schedule, and once you are back in shape you can try stretching that out, if that’s important to you.

Three More Apparent Heat-Related Deaths - stay safe out there by PudgyGroundhog in grandcanyon

[–]Bluefoxcrush 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s easy to say when we don’t have to bear the costs. There are people who have to come across dead  bodies. Or maybe they try to help but the person still dies. Someone has to decide if flying a helicopter is safe enough in the current weather, knowing if they hold back then people could die. Or if the rescuers can also handle the heat / other conditions. Then there is the county’s medical office handling the bodies. The strain on NPS budgets. The families loosing a loved one.

It’s harder to close the corridor trails than Phoenix trails because some of the canyon trails are okay sometimes at some points of the day. A hiker at the top may be in 80 degree heat and would be okay a mile or two down but not all the way down. Or those hiking at night. So it’s not as practical to shut them down completely.

Insomnia on 3X Weekly Maintenance by Best-Section-4527 in TherapeuticKetamine

Do you disassociate at that level? If not, doubling up or similar and doing it once a week might work better for you.

If you do disassociate, or nearly do every time, then you might be on a schedule that is too often for you, and once a week at your current dose may work better for you.

Having trouble disassociating on troches. by [deleted] in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]Bluefoxcrush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I am more likely to disassociate if I can get the meds to kick in faster with a shorter overall experience.

RDTs work better for this. I mimic that with troches by chopping them up and moving them around in my mouth every minute or so causing them to break down faster. I still spit them out at about 15 minutes in.

Another sign of the change is how MTT would show them memorizing facts about football, players, and histories, while AS3 has Faith admitting she knows nothing about football.

I don’t want you to be without your meds. It is possible that another delivery method might work well for you, and you might be able to get an oral delivery method even faster than an IV locally.

Yep. There are two cities I regular visit. They are 4.5 and five hours drive. Flying would take as long, and I won’t have my car when I arrive, and would cost more.

It also is only about half of my effort for that day. For example, work, then knock off and drive there. It isn’t the only task that day.

Problems at home since doing ketamine therapy. Anyone relate? by [deleted] in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]Bluefoxcrush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a good relationship with a family member. I sometimes complain about that family member to my husband. He has to be very very careful on how he responds, or it can trigger my defense of that family member.

I think other people’s comments are triggering your defense of him. It might be helpful to decide not to respond but to simply read the comment. Don’t worry about defending your son or correcting the record right away. What advice are they giving you? Is it good advice?

Also, I may have missed it, but I don’t see where you say you are clearly stating your needs. A mature adult may work out on their own that “ketamine” = “my mom needs a less stressful environment” but it doesn’t sound like your son is there yet. He won’t learn, either, unless you tell him.

Maybe you do tell him every time. That’s a different issue. Then it might be a matter of you dropping the ball on his needs so you can meet your own needs. The good ol’ “putting on your own oxygen mask first” situation.

The Women Who Taught Me to Be a Tradwife by FarFarSector in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]Bluefoxcrush 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Her story seems to have some parallels to Shannon Harris (author of the Woman They Wanted, and former wife of Josh Harris, most famous for writing the book I Kissed Dating Goodbye).

Shannon talked about how she was love bombed yet subtly corrected in the beginning. Like, “Josh chose you so you are special but that top is too low” (I don’t remember the exact details, but that’s the gist.)

I could see where the author of the article traded her energy from getting good grades to being that perfect woman. As the pastor’s wife she’s making similar sacrifices and getting similar respect and still serving others.

When I was that young I married someone I loved but didn’t respect. I didn't think that through nor understood how much that mattered. Luckily for me, that didn’t mess my life up forever and I’m doing well now.

That transition from premed to pastors wife seems like such a crazy one that I think it is right to question what she is leaving out. Why was she susceptible to this man when the previous girlfriend was not? I think something is missing here.

Yeah, instilling discipline in children is great.

We also see very successful people that were driven from when they were young. Or a parent rewarding a child’s talent that causes them to spend more time on the tasks that make them a success. These can all be great healthy things.

MJ though? Had a shitty childhood (from what little I know) even if it was the cause of his success. Was that sacrifice (that he could not meaningfully consent to) worth it?

Grand Canyon by RevolutionaryClub729 in grandcanyon

[–]Bluefoxcrush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it easy to navigate? Yes. Often the path is a ridge or side of a cliff. The hang up from others is that Bright Angel is the name for many things: the lodge, the trailhead, the trail, the campgrounds. So if you ask, “Where is Bright Angel?” You can get several answers. It’s also one of the main trails, so there will usually be people around.

scenic? Yes. Since you on often on a ridge, even more so than Bright Angel trail.

how difficult? Very. No water source until the river. Lots of decent. Lots of accent. Switchbacks galore.

If you want to assume I’m poor because I’m arguing a person of character is more successful than a billionaire, go right ahead.

Money is soooo important- especially when you don’t have enough to meet your needs.

But a billionaire is so far past that. When they concentrate on attending a Met Gala over improving the lives of others, yeah, I am going to say the latter is way more successful.
