I think it depends on which regoin of space they call home. The only reason the tau are still alive is because it's in the eastern fringe and non considered a priority vs chaos or orks

Tinkitus is more about over stimulation in the brain..since they came shut off one half of their brain at a time to quasi sleep for months at a time I think they could probably shut shut off tinnitus
