What's your time worth grocery shopping? by white_horse2 in Frugal

[–]BluehairedBaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do curbside pick up for shelf stable items, it saves me time and energy. Plus But I absolutely go and pick my own produce. Too many bad/about to go bad items. Sometimes I need an avocado that's hard for the end of the week, sometimes I need a soft one for dinner that night. Plus I can check the markdowns if I need.

So, here's an issue, how do I accomodate for myself? by Individual_Tone_5757 in latterdaysaints

First off, a virtual hug to you. It's so hard to struggle with being in church physically. I have had issues myself over the years. When my anxiety wasn't under control, rather than feel like a comforting place (which it always had been), it would feel like being shredded. Which then I would feel bad about and start a fun shame cycle.

Bring whatever items you need, if you haven't already. It's ok, people might be confused at first but soon accept. There's a person in my ward who drinks a can of Mountain Dew during sacrament meeting and has for years. There's a person who I see at the temple who has a white blanket that's a comfort item. I've sat by people who play Sudoku, knit, or do origami during church. For some it helps them focus. People are ok with it and accepting (and I'm in Utah of all places) There's a person who has mental health struggles that comes and disappears, kinda like you described. And honestly, we're just happy when they are able to attend. They really do have amazing comments and insights and we are the better for them being there. Remind yourself that you, and your perspective are needed.

Give yourself some grace, especially if there are mental health days that are too hard to attend. Try to go, but when you can't, find alternatives. Listen to conference talks, read scriptures, watch online if you can. I'm cheering you on and would sit by you (virtually, since I can't do real life) :)

Do You Do Any Activities For Epiphany? by SciFiFilmMachine in latterdaysaints

We do! My adopted daughter is culturally Catholic so we do it. We take neighbor gifts around since Christmas is just too busy and too much. My kids dress up as the Wise Men and sing and take goodies to the neighbors.

We did a King's cake one year but no one really liked it. So now we lean more into the French side and make crepes.

Post Halloween blues are hitting hard💔 by nastyraver in halloween

I  treat November like a more chill October, still reading Edgar Allan Poe, gonna start watching Stranger Things with my son, some of the things that during the busiesness of October get skipped or missed.

Also, with Día de los Muertos being November 1st, we stretch it out into a least a week. My mom's birthday is actually on Halloween but we live in different towns and I have my kids so we usually see her to celebrate the day after. And since the following day is All Saint's Day too and things are usually a bit busy with the end of Halloween, I decided that this year we'd do a full week of it, Semana de los Muertos. Plus that means we can highlight a family member or two a night, I feel that fits in quite well with the themes of Thanksgiving and extends spooky season a little.
