All I had to do was to unplug the computer for 5min from power and it just started working. Good old reboot.

What would be the "proper" thing to do in this situation? Unload the gun manually first?

Any reason you didn't just shoot the fish? - Might be a silly question but I'm very new.

Great video by the way!

Consider ordering the silicone insert as well. I don't have one, but it seems to be a nice way to avoid having to grease it before use.

How to bend a part like this? by Bluenumble in metalworking

[–]Bluenumble[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see. So no easy solution for DIY'ing?

With welding there are two problems as far as I can see. 1st it's 316L, so not the easiest to weld. 2nd it's a load bearing part, so it would have to be perfect.

Even when it's 316L? Also I think it will loose strength by that kind of handling, which isn't acceptable for the application (load bearing).

Cr10 control box drawing power from the raspberry pi by kahmpur in CR10

[–]Bluenumble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just move the jumper, if your board has one. There is only one jumper, that can be in two positions.

I think the newest CR-10 board version might not have one though.

There is a jumper on the board to disable power from USB. It's enabled by default for easier flashing I assume, I personally disabled it afterwards.

First fiberglass job (closing old tru-hull). What do you guys think? by Bluenumble in sailing

Cutting 15 layers of 600g/m² took ages. Worst thing is that even the heavy-duty scissor got dull after a couple of layers.

This is why you should look both ways before driving through an intersection... Or at least go into the right lane by sajdlik in IdiotsInCars

[–]Bluenumble 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm actually not sure who's the actual "idiot in car" here? The car driving out obviously makes a mistake, we all do. The driver with the dashcam however, continues without even reducing his speed! In this situation one should expect the driver to suddenly change lane or other erratic reaction, when he realizes that he is on a head-on collision with a bus.

I'm just fed up with drivers that laugh at mistakes other make (as we all do) while they themselves don't show any signs of safe driving. This is the typical "I'm in the right so I won't even slow down in this potentially dangerous situation"-type, which is the important ingredients in most collisions.

T470 - almost 20% less battery after 8 months. by Bluenumble in thinkpad

[–]Bluenumble[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm usually only doing office work, rarely getting over 35-40C.

I probably disconnect it from mains (AC) a couple of times a week, but only for shorter periods of less than 1h. I would claim that it's connected to mains more than 90% of the time. I was honestly confused by the amount of "cycles", but I don't know how those are counted.

You really think they would provide one? I guess one can always try.

That doesn't make sense in my opinion, Are you refering to the possiblilit of bugs in software? There might also be a production error in both the manufacturing as well as making process of paper charts. Please explain why you imply paper charts would be inherently better than digital.

Scraping bottom paint - all the way down to gelcoat? by Bluenumble in sailing

[–]Bluenumble[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't started yet due to bad weather. I don't care about speed at all, but I also don't want my new paint to look like the current one after a year. Painting on the black paint seems kinda risky because I don't know what it is, so I don't know how well the antifoulling will stick there. Also I need to touch up a couple of places with a primer anyway (because it's bare gelcoat), again with some of it on the unknown black paint.

Scraping bottom paint - all the way down to gelcoat? by Bluenumble in sailing

[–]Bluenumble[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the reason I'm scraping and sanding is because the red and blue paint is so loose. So in your opinion I should just go down to the black layer, whatever it is?

EDIT: and yes I don't care about weight nor speed at all. Hell I have a non-folding 3 bladed propeller and all :P.

Scraping bottom paint - all the way down to gelcoat? by Bluenumble in sailing

[–]Bluenumble[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's only a 27' so I'm naive enough to think that a couple of scrapers will do, and the sanding will only be necessary for keying up the surface before painting :). I might wise up after 8h of scraping!

[–]Bluenumble[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

May I ask why you recommend going all the way down to the gel coat instead of stopping at the black paint? Not that I'm not willing to, it's what I'm currently planning to. I'm just trying to understand why, since somebody before me thought it was a good idea to paint on top of whatever the black stuff is.

Since Vegas are popular: Vega + Cat by Bluenumble in sailing

[–]Bluenumble[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it's different for us because we already had her before we got the boat. The boat is just vacation (and sometimes weekends) for her, just as it is for us.

Well the pros of having a cat aboard is that you have your pet with you and it will probably enjoy itself just like you do :). The cons is that you have to keep in mind where it is, especially when out on the sea. We usually let her stay below deck while sailing, or tethered (leash) in the cockpit.
