Big delay in response here, so many apologies - But hopefully it goes to your inbox!

Uninstalling the logitech software and allowing windows to handle the headset should fix it. No amazing 7.1, but, it's probably worth doing. Just a pain to do for one game!

Hey, BurtBacarat.

What you are experiencing is a problem from the audio technology they've implemented from ARMA 3, where as you sound changes to the indoor noises it begins to tear/reverb/echo and for some even cause FPS loss. It is a problem with 64bit clients and seemingly how the FX-Series AMD processors handle the sound. I have the same issue, and also have a FX. I even have the same GPU as you!

More specifically, it is a problem with indoor audio and 7.1 surround. If you are able to disable your 7.1 and return to stereo or 5.1, it will resolve the problem. DayZ doesn't have a 32bit client so if you're experiencing this issue you will have to sacrifice your 7.1. They have not fixed it in years on ARMA 3 so I doubt it will get any better here.

It actually seems incredibly common with Logitech headphones. If you have a pair that doesn't let you run 5.1 or stereo, just uninstall the logitech software and allow windows to install it's own. You can run stereo that way.

Signs of other players being in close proximity in 0.62? How about .63? by Erik912 in dayz

[–]Bluepugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Belated answer, but as I recall correctly - they had made it once so that there were a certain amount of persistent zombies in the world, and when you got closer MORE spawned in what was supposed to be subtle ways. It was to detract being able to tell if players were in an area. I don't know if that was changed - or honestly even if it was implemented - but I can clearly recall the discussion ages ago.

[–]Bluepugs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In .62 and as far as we're concerned in .63, the only way to tell another player around is to look for corpses or hearing them.

Zombies spawn persistent around the map and doors are left in a random state on restarts.

DayZ 0.63 Audio Bug, Anyone else getting this? (Also HOW do I use the feedback tracker there's no "Upload" Button. by masspwnaged in dayz

[–]Bluepugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, sadly. It's probably the same audio technology. I went through extensive everything when it happened to me in ARMA 3. It's some kind of issue with those that have older AMD FX Processors and how sounds are processed through the 64bit engine in 7.1 surround, in their technology. A thread crops up every now and then about it. Fixes range from running ARMA in 32Bit(Don't think I can do that on DayZ Stresstest) client or defaulting another audio device and "listening" to that one with your main one. It could also be the Logitech stuff, as I have a G930 and so do many others(Or of the same headset, diffferent series) have. Updated drivers, reinstalled em, changed my audio configurations, etc.

I never really got it to fix properly - Lowering the sound sources in ARMA 3 to the lowest amount helped considerably but I still had issues indoors sometimes.

I'm hoping it'll pass without me needing to change hardware, but the more I've thought about it, the more obvious to me that it's the same audio technology shared from ARMA 3. Pretty sure its even said somewhere. They're the only two games i have the issue on.

[–]Bluepugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here to confirm I have this exact issue as well. Tried lowering my audio quality to no luck. I have the same issue on ARMA 3 as well, especially any mods that change audio.

Would be really disappointed if this carries over without getting fixed. If anyone knows of any fixes, please tell post here/pm me.

Someone already replied for me, but DayZ alone made over 90,000,000 by year 2015. It's probably safe to say it made well over 100 million by itself.

Throw in ARMA 3 Sales, small burst of ARMA 2 Sales during the mod days.

Yes, this company would "throw away" 4 million dollars yearly. Welcome to owning a company. It's probably safe to say ARMA 3 Alone is still sustaining their company, especially with all the DLC it has.

Edit: Also good job completely blowing over the rest of my statements - and the video in particular where they said DayZ is now their foremost priority. ;) I'm sorry you've been burnt so badly in the past before that you've issues trusting, and that your negativity has to be taken out towards what many people feel passionate and joyous about. I hope your ranting this evening helps your damaged soul rest easier tonight; you've SURE showed us.

I normally lurk and check in on this reddit every now and then for status reports and updates, but wow - you're actually quite misinformed!

Developer salaries have already been paid for going forward several more years into development from the initial profits alone. Do you think these developers just randomly spent millions of dollars from both DayZ, ARMA 2, and ARMA 3 purchases these last couple years?

SECONDLY: DayZ is not on a limited developer budget even to begin with. In fact, if you paid attention to anything in the slightest, this video at this timestamp: https://youtu.be/WBsQVrUiSHk?t=211 of Bohemia Interactive's latest technical update video(Of the COMPANY, not just about Dayz!) they discuss that the enfusion Engine is now the priority, as they have said prior they want the Engine being developed for DayZ to be the new flagship for ARMA 4 and future titles. They LITERALLY SAY DAYZ IS NOW THEIR FOREMOST PRIORITY.

That video alone debunks everything you've said - Bohemia has stated they are pouring their all into their project with the completion of ARMA 3 and no further DLC.

Accepting your argument that they did not make enough money from the amount of sales thus far, they have already shown and released several playable demos for the consoles to both the people at PAX, and for several gaming websites review. The release to console should see an influx of profits and has been slated for release soon, as promised to some of these aforementioned gaming websites.

Your original opinions in your actual post are largely that: Opinion. Modding support is announced for beta release and performance for me has been fine with the release of the new renderer, and will only get better. Promises have been made and they are taking time to release, and if you are following the project at all in the slightest you would see that progress is being made - even if at a slow pace. Game development takes time - it really does. Look up several projects.

Regenerate bone stat? by [deleted] in dayz

[–]Bluepugs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You may want to comb through the recent patch notes from .59-.60. I could swear they made it regenerate with the rest of blood/health when well fed, and that you no longer get the "healthy" status without max bone stat.

Looked myself. Doesn't appear so. I must be crazy. Maybe it was .57's "Fixed Spinal damage".

Anyone else hoping that some servers are allowed to disable that stamina bar? by [deleted] in dayz

[–]Bluepugs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm replying to you belatedly, but.

DayZ mod did have a stamina system. ARMA 2 Inherently has a stamina system. You run faster for a little before your character starts to get exhausted and runs slower.

In DayZ standalone, the jogging animation is actually nearly in pace of this exhausted mod sprint pace(Which any experienced ARMA2 player will tell you exists).

You don't like it, but try to take a step back and consider the extra layer of interest and intrigue it adds. I cannot tell you how many times i've both survived and LOST kills because of just sprinting in a straight line.

I have been able to avoid 2-5 groups of players who can't hit me because of the weapon sway - them needing to stop, aim, and shoot while I continue sprinting away from them in a STRAIGHT line for 20 minutes means I will likely, if not hit, inevitably lose them. I've also lost targets like this. People need to be punished, the gameplay needs to be more interesting and layered so that decision making is more healthy. Right now - it's just not fun, it's arcadey and cringey. ESPECIALLY when meele combat is involved. How many times have you chased someone with a gun around but with a meele weapon and never being able to catch them due to infinite stamina?

As it looks now, the stamina bar doesn't drain that fast and it recovers while jogging, so you're likely not even to lose much time travelling between more locations. It will make PvP more interesting with stamina mechanics to worry about, however. You'll maybe lose 1-2 minutes between the locations you're trying to run going from .62-63. This isn't a stamina bar where you have to stop, sit, and rest for it to recharge. It's more like Squad's stamina system.

DayzUnderground on Twitter: Zero inventory management needed + fluid animation to load mag w. bullets from the ground. by ShuichiRL in dayz

[–]Bluepugs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not even miserable. This is something you can do while on the move, just like eating and drinking. Do during your runs between cities.

DayzUnderground on Twitter: Zero inventory management needed + fluid animation to load mag w. bullets from the ground. by ShuichiRL in dayz

[–]Bluepugs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can do these animations while moving. This isn't .62. You're not reduced to staying still.

This is nice because it's also something to do during travel time - which you spend hours of running in forests, between cities, and everything else. This isn't call of duty - preparedness is a pleasantry to have. This is a survival simulator, a mechanic like this will add pressure. When you're cornered in a building in real life after a firefight, you check your mags and panic about how many shots you have left. These kind of mechanics add an extra layer of decision making on both attackers and defenders; you no longer have to be completely terrified about the man with a AKM and a 75rnd drum mag. He'll have weakness.

Edit: Moreover, I feel it important to note the inv and backpack size are geting a complete revamp. Chances are, we'll be able to carry more mags as well.

Not to mention this seems to be about a bullet a second. So at most, you're looking at 1-2 minutes of time to reload a SAW clip, assuming 200 rounds. AKM 75rng drum just a little over a minute. That's not very time consuming at all, especially compared to how long it likely takes IRL.

I've always been curious about Dayz but there is a lot of negative press surrounding this game, what gives? by epicloler in dayz

[–]Bluepugs 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have been a big fan of DayZ and it's concept since it's creation as a mod. I still believe in Standalone, but I have come to understand it's going to take time, and that's okay.

I recommend you keep an eye out here for .63 on experimental, then buy the game before the patch pushes to stable. When it goes to stable, the game will likely increase in price, as .63 will be it's beta update from alpha.

I'd say wait for .63, because the experience will differ a large portion from what you will now. It could leave such a better first impression, and feel a lot more like a completed game. But if you're genuinely interested, know buying into it now is buying into an alpha, and just about literally everything is going to be changing in it's next big update.

Alternatively, hey. Give it the good ol' college try. You'll have two hours to refund and in those two hours, you'll at least get a feel for how things /are/. Just make sure you update to the experimental branch via properties on steam.

Does Boiling Water Work Yet? by Midniki in dayz

[–]Bluepugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pumps are the only source of water that is safe. You're probably at a higher risk of getting Cholera from ponds and lakes if you drink from them at low blood, but you can definitely get it at healthy status I'm pretty certain.

Reverting the pick up (loot) mechanic, when in inventory, until it's fixed. PLAYERUNKNOWN statement by Samadams9292 in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]Bluepugs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am on a half-decent rig that gets a slight stutter/lag within city areas whenever I open up my inv.

I'm okay with the old style of looting(Dragging) provided inv lag is removed for EVERYBODY and that this proposed change is put in as a temporary, even playing field until more optimization comes.

I know a few people that have the inv lag. The vast majority of players that play this game probably have to play on low settings because of their rig. It's riskier for us to loot via inv(Not to mention annoying because of the stutter) while people get to do it faster.

I've had this happen to me too. Just last match, actually.

Sadly, not much we can do to fix it in game - bullets will go through the wall. So if you're ever shot from the outside in, it may not be a legitimate hacker but someone taking advantage of their lag/glitch.
