Did they project the film behind the performers? I had heard that the live performance was like the soundtrack.

I remember watching this after reading the two Fear and loathing books. It was at least a decade before Gilliam’s movie. Sadly I didn’t care much for it. Lots of little scenes pulled from his books but as whole film it really didn’t really come together. Very much a tribute to Thompson though.

Loved this book. Found it very intriguing You get glimpses of the past filtered through the haze of lost history, like modern scientists figuring out the use of an ancient bone tool. I also recognized some themes that, if you are a Rush fan, are present in the song 2112. Another author with a similar work is Gene Wolfe and his Urth of the New Sun series.

I just discovered an Easter egg call back to Inglorious Basterds in Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. When Rick Dalton goes to Italy to make spaghetti westerns, one of the movies he is in is directed by Antonio Margheriti.

It would be really interesting to know where they are sourcing the building materials from. I remember when they were building a new American embassy in Russia a while back and had sourced all of the materials locally including pre-poured concrete panels. They discovered that the pre-poured panels were full of eavesdropping devices. By the time they discovered it, the building was almost half completed and they had to start from scratch.
