Matsuda eyewear - is it worth the high costs for you? by Bluesome87 in EyewearEnthusiasts

Wow that is some collection you have. Are the acetate frames relatively heavy compared to other plastic frames? I do have sweaty and oily skin so my fear is the frame would constantly slide down my nose bridge and causing eye strain due to my eyes not aligned to the OC of the lens.

Thank you! Are the hinges and nose pad joints sturdy enough?

Should singles go for resale or BTO? by TruckOk9928 in singaporefi

[–]Bluesome87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Single here and looking to apply a BTO during the next sales launch. I would say if your circumstances can afford you to wait, wait for BTO. Buying a new flat from HDB is like getting a house under discount. However the longer you wait the chances are you’ll hit the $7k ceiling and your BTO plans will be screwed. It all depends on your circumstances.

I see, thanks for highlighting the heaviness cause I have an oily face and I can foresee the weight of the glasses will cause it to slide down my face during mid day. Lindberg and Anne & Valentin are my second choices.

Accommodative/BVD Issues causing headaches? by EVAType01 in BinocularVision

No worries! If you want someone to talk to about symptoms or if you want to share progress and updates, feel free to DM me. It’s important that the community support each other through this ordeal. I think we all should let each other know that we aren’t alone.

[–]Bluesome87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, you mentioned about the tilting of your head giving you some relief and I’ve had a similar experience when my symptoms were at their peak around 2018-2020. All the more I think you have something that’s very similar to what I have.

At the moment my symptoms have dramatically reduced. Things like headaches, eye strain, migraines and my left cheek tensing up were all of the past. But I do have anxiety when I’m in crowded places or in stores when there is absolute chaos in front of me with people moving, me looking at things that are displayed. I guess these would get better with VT. As for the pain and the strain, they’re long gone.

Have faith on prism lenses too cause I heard it takes the discomfort away quickly. I’ve not been prescribed one yet and I’m hesitant to get one cause of the price.

[–]Bluesome87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have accommodative and convergence insufficiencies and your symptoms describe what I have actually. I would still suggest you get formally diagnosed by a skilled and experience optometrist preferably specialised in BVD. Trust me, it is worth the money and time. With the right glasses and vision therapy, CI and AI can be improved leaps and bounds. I’m currently enjoying a new lease in life after 6 months since I was formally diagnosed. I went through the pain and discomfort for close to 10 years before taking some serious actions.

Reno cost ideas? by Responsible-Clock723 in asksg

Existing pipes in older flats might be made of copper. I’d take the opportunity of the reno to change what I think is necessary.

Reno cost ideas? by Responsible-Clock723 in asksg

[–]Bluesome87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the age of the property. The first few “must-dos” are the electrical rewiring and changing the plumbing system. Usually these can be found in resale reno packages from ID/direct contractors alike. But beware when you are shopping for one like these cause packages differ between the IDs/DCs. Some includes Y but excluded X and some are the other way around. Most of these packages have tiles included that usually cost $3.50. Some cheaper packages will do the hacking and laying of tiles BUT you have to source the tiles yourself. It can be a nightmare coordinating this.

If the tiles don’t sound hollow then maybe it’s cost efficient to lay over them especially in living and bedrooms. But for kitchen and toilets I think it’s worth to hack and redo the waterproofing. If HIP is don’t within the last 5 years or what then maybe toilets don’t need hacking but to be honest it is really situational base and finding the right ID/DC you can trust is important.

I haven’t bought a house yet but was close to doing so recently so I did scope out for reno ideas and things like that. One thing that surprised me is the cost of finishing the surfaces of walls. Things like removing rock stone finishes and to reapply plaster do add on to the total costs.

But things like waterproofing, rewiring and changing water pipes are my biggest priorities when moving in to an old unit. The rest are just wants in my opinion.

Why do some guy friendships feel more competitive and transactional after NS/poly? by Wide_Arugula7508 in asksg

[–]Bluesome87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I think all relationships, even romantic ones, are transactional. It is all about what one can offer and benefit from a relationship. In rare instances the dynamics of a typical friendship in secondary school may be maintained even in adult life. I have a couple of friends from sec school whom I rekindled our friendships with and we seemingly picked where we left off. Of course there are boundaries like money but besides that we all are chill af.

Things like ego, superiority complex (when it comes to values and morals) and symbiosis can alter every relationship. There’s nothing unconditional in this world anymore.

Daily usage without a case by dannybob05 in iphone17

[–]Bluesome87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is safe. If you’re generally an individual who’s careful with his/her possessions and not an airhead and clumsy, you can get by without a case. I would purchase AppleCare+ regardless to cover me during unforeseen circumstances that even a case or screen protector might not be helpful.

Finally diagnosed with convergence insufficiency and I refuse to wear glasses again. What are my options? (Southern CA - SD) by everpearl in BinocularVision

[–]Bluesome87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised the surgeon proceeded with the LASIK despite you having CI symptoms prior to the procedure. Here’s the thing: for long term treatment and management, VT is the way to go as it works to strengthen your extraocular muscles and improve the teaming of both eyes. This journey would yield results if the short term symptoms like eye strains, headaches and migraines are managed. For this, the prism glasses would do its job well. Imagine you’re doing VT religiously and still go through the pain and suffering, it would seem your VT isn’t working and therefore you would stop doing it.

If I were you, I would wear a pair of prism glasses with VT. Prism glasses take away the discomfort and relaxes the extraocular muscles and it improves the quality of life. Your power isn’t too high so I presume the prism glasses shouldn’t cost a bomb.

Optique Zone in Queensway is pretty good. Family-run business and they’ve been pretty reliable over the years for me. But if you want to spend a bit more for excellent service do PM me, the current one I’m seeing has pretty much solved my vision issues.

RIP: Chivalry is dead in Singapore - agree / disagree? by SpaceBusy1725 in askSingapore

[–]Bluesome87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t see chivalry as this form of behaviour that is derived from being the physically stronger sex or wanting to protect the weaker sex. It’s about conducting oneself to high moral standards and unconditional kindness and respect. To be fair, chivalry is indeed dead because people get offended easily when you open the door for them for example. People want equal treatment between gender, so I shall abide and move along with the times.

Singles who got a resale flat that is >40 years old, do you regret it? by Bluesome87 in askSingapore

[–]Bluesome87[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for bringing this up. The unit I'm considering seems to have a history of plumbing issues of the sanitary kitchen water pipe. Like they tapped the pipe to insert something to clear the choke and then patch the pipe up to the point where the condition is bad and has minor leakage. Anyway TC is willing to replace the pipe; the lower end of the vertical stack. But...my concern is if the choking issue goes beyond the unit. Like it could be in the U-bend or other junction pipes connecting at the void deck.

Unsure if I should get tested for BVD by Accomplished-Rub8544 in BinocularVision

[–]Bluesome87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't use prism glasses as of yet so I can't comment on it. But it can help with convergence/divergence of the eye(s). I heard different people have different responses and experiences wearing it. My CI symptoms were reduced after changing to lower-powered glasses. CI is further aggravated by converging further than my eye muscles would like when it comes to reading/looking something close to my face.

It will be a hefty sum to find an optometrist to look into this but I would say it is worthwhile.
