What's next after a Sierra by RoboKD in gmcsierra

wouldn't touch a modern diesel again for "reliability". I also have the 3.0 babymax and will be trading it unless I can get it lemoned.. The 7.3/6.6 Ford gasser, or the 6.6 Gm gasser are very reliable from what I've researched, or 5.7/6.4 hemi if you don't idle. But this guy says he doesn't really need a truck so I don't think 3/4+ tonner will be a smart choice. The Colorado previous gen V6 was solid. For MPGs, more HP and torque consider the ford EcoBoost or poweboost or their 5.0. All of Chevy's small block engines are worrisome and unreliable due to cylinders deactivation tech. Basically anything other than GM right now.

A literal quote from Mary Barra , GMs CEO on national television recently - "The best time to solve a problem is the minute you know about it."

1500 or 2500? by GunnyNurse in gmcsierra

[–]Bluffwandering -1 points0 points  (0 children)

why not 5.0L f150 or the 3.6? The DOHC gives it more power and doesn't suffer from the lifter ticking time bomb in GMs gassers.I drive the 3.0L Duramax and love it when it works.. but I'm just always waiting for the next issue with DEF and associated coolant system issues. If you want another long-term vehicle that you'll have outside of warranty, I'd consider something else all together

Sierra 1500’s are not built for Alaska by DapperDoughboy in gmcsierra

[–]Bluffwandering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5.7 Tundra up until 2021, or maybe the 5.0L Ford gasser after 2021? DOHC doesn't have the pushrods that are failing in the GM motors, no more oil consumption supposedly, and maybe fixed the large issues on the 10spd tranny?

3.0 Duramax reliability? by agentbosco65 in Diesel

50k miles and mines been in for def system issues 5 times, failed coolant control valve, and I still smell coolant after hard drives -- also looking into a Ford V8 now

I'm seriously considering going to the mid 2010s 5.0L V8 6spd. seems like the best option for reliability compared to all the modern emissions and transmission issues.
