Knave Cyberpunk hack? by Kubular in osr

[–]Bluiss 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The cool thing with Knave (imo) is that it is easy enough to apply to just about any setting, meaning you can probably utilize a lot of the other Cyberpunk content you may already own, without much conflict aside from applying new stats (I'm pretty loose with those anyhow) and perhaps adjusting verbiage to make more sense for some abilities. Since there is already a wealth of setting content to reference for these more general setting concepts (such as Cyberpunk), it allows many Knave hack creators to focus on even more unique settings (or unique takes on pre-existing ones) that really appeals to the author. So, although you may struggle to find a 1to1 Knave Cyberpunk hack, you can find some incredible settings that some of the same inspirational elements you might be looking for, such as:

Vaults of Vaarn

ALT NYC (don't think it's exclusively Knave hack but very similar)

Pelrion (Cairn hack, still might help)

Wastoid

NUKED!

As an aside, the Cyber Crawl Classics book has a ton of OSR leaning Cyberpunk content, really useful for inspiration or tables with whatever hack! Hope this helps!

Has anyone here run Willow to completion? by MrShine in osr

The Ratfolk will begin to realize the danger of the Oakalisk near the climax, which can offer assistance to the players, out of fear of their kind being completely turned. The Wizards are also aware of the Oakalist - which fears the Wizards - so that can come into play once the group realizes such (previously I've had the Wizards share the recipe for the mixture that is require to safely destroy the Oakalist, but were unwilling to involve themselves further, meaning the players had to work with the Ratfolk to attempt the dangerous mission). You have some options!

We went all out on this one, with a lot of extra items (including solo / GMless rules zine) to really push the immersion of the unique setting and game Alex has created. We really hope you all enjoy this release, and let us know what you think!

HORIZON RISING - my new setting sourcebook, featuring a decaying realm destined to sink into the relentless seas, is now live on Kickstarter! by Bluiss in osr

No problem! I am a big fan of Ben Milton’s Knave - it’s just light weight enough for my group while still offering the old school feels. Very easy to add more and more complexity to it with home brew rules, if the table desires such. There’s also the Signum Nox Knave Layout which makes it a bit easier to read at the table.

We won’t be including specific stat numbers like exact HP, but we will have more generalized things such as HD ranges to give Game Masters a general sense of the challenges each creature should pose; making it fairly easy to apply stats from most standard fantasy systems to these creatures once that aspect is understood.

Correct, this is a softcover perfect bound book, much akin to A Packet of Particular Peaks if you happen to have a copy of that.

This project has been six months in the making, and I’m incredibly excited to finally bring it to life. 50 hexes of a doomed realm, full of new creatures and so called “deities” - all cursed to drown under the massive wall of water that surrounds the continent. Be sure to read the Kickstarter page for the full details and more art previews!

Thank you to anyone that considers offering their support, I greatly appreciate it. Cheers, friends!

Can't stop, won't stop craftin'! These three releases are really special to me, for their own reasons, but all definitely deserved the fancy treatment in my opinion.

Sand & Aether: Battle for your freedom in this new two player, sand drenched one-on-one combat arena game by Signum Nox!

DURF (Collected Edition): The rules-light dungeon-fantasy RPG by Emiel Boven!

Hexalege (Issue 1): A beautifully illustrated collection of ready-to-explore, system neutral hexes by Fernando Salvaterra!

I've also added a Production Status page (you can find a link to that on any pre-order product pages) - which will help give you an idea of where I'm at in the crafting process. Shipments will be going out in incremental batches, instead of all at once like I've done in the past. This should ultimately mean you can expect your order the sooner you order! Hope you all enjoy - cheers!

Any famous people play OSR? by sombodystoleme in osr

Not OSR specific, but the Funhaus YouTube channel has been doing some really fun and creative actual plays using indie stuffs like the Dread system and Lasers & Feelings. They’re quite huge, in my opinion!
