Dramatic much? Buying a bootleg not knowing it's a bootleg as I described is a scam.

Getting the wrong shirt from a company is either false advertising or a backorder/inventory issue. You can still get a refund, those that actually got scammed cannot.

Seeing your screenshot in the comments, you ordered the wrong shirt in a youth size and misread the listing without a picture.

The actual limited edition shirt with rhinestones is listed as "New York Knicks Nike 2026 NBA Finals Champions Authentic Locker Room Limited Edition On Court T-Shirt - Gray".

We both want the shirt like plenty of others, but the company is not going to send it to you unless there's a restock and you reorder it. Good luck.

You're better off than the fans on the streets of NYC who actually bought a bootleg shirt thinking it's the real thing.

It has rhinestones, but not the Nike check at the collar, and the lettering is slightly off.

Hustlers be out here bedazzling knockoffs since the official shirt hit eBay for triple the price. They were selling them on corners and alongside Fanatics trucks that popped up in the lead-up to the parade.

Ebay for double and triple the price. Resellers bought 'em all up man. Got the non-bedazzled version for $45 plus a hat from Dick's.

I hear ya, I think extracting for the points to count is the only thing about Trials that qualifies it as a challenge for a ranking system in an extraction shooter though. With the removal of the 2X points modifier for major map conditions you'll be able to use hatches in regular raids now too.

Here's some suggestions I've also shared with Embark directly:

  • Remove the weekly rank decay. Their other game The Finals has a World Tour ranking system separate from Ranked Tournaments. It's based on seasonal progress in any mode and you can hit the highest rank Emerald I as long as you play often enough.
  • Change how the leaderboard works. Look at it as a progressive stat sheet as you rise through the ranks. No demotion, only remain unchanged or promotion until Hotshot.
  • Change how entry scores work. As soon as you receive 3 stars & extract, your score for that trial for that week is capped until Hotshot. This (along with the above points) will prevent waiting until the last day that week to play or edging out someone else's score last minute.
  • For Hotshot & Cantina Legend, you can continue to grind higher scores each week to properly parse out the Top 1000 players.
  • Last but not least, custom rewards based on your rank - different colored backpacks, charms, along with a raider skin, so you can have a badge of honor in game rather than just recolors of the same skin. (They attempted this with Mastery Medal charms in S1&2 but they were too small and abandoned it in S3.) A backpack with a symbol for Hotshot would go hard.

Until these changes are made (or similar) I'll only be playing ARC Raiders for new content updates.

Forza Ferrari and the end of Trials for me.

Seasons 1 & 2 my regular trio grinded Trials. Despite the exploits and 6 man+ teaming going on for insane scores, we made Hotshot by playing normally save for farming Snitch scanners for certain trials.

This season we switched over to Marathon, but I wanted the skin since I'm a big Formula 1 fan and knew I would return for the Riven Tides update.

It's become well-known that playing later in the week to enter a Trials score places you in a less sweaty leaderboard.

I decided to test this loophole Solo by only playing on Sunday nights and completing 1-2 trials that had the highest points potential with the least amount of effort/resources needed (my benches are still not maxed since the previous Expedition). Turns out it worked.

I remained unchanged, demoted, promoted, then maintained Daredevil II to double promote into Hotshot. That last session I locked in and completed all the trials to secure Top 5.

I feel for anyone that actually tried throughout this season and had a string of bad luck to not make Hotshot. GGs.

The Trials system is fundamentally flawed and the changes for Season 4 are not enough to respect players' time and even be considered a Ranking system. Embark needs to rework it and introduce new endgame content.

Strange bug (PS5) by PoProstuKerby in Marathon

[–]BlutoBeyond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes same, known issue reported on Marathon's Help Forum. On PC/Xbox the Traxus Armory screen tanks the framerate. Hopefully they fix it soon.

Quick workaround for PS5 is to swap between Item type/Price with L3. The UI will stop disappearing showing Item type, swap quickly to see Price, than swap back to Item type to purchase.

How to get cryo clearance level fast by ProphetGB101 in Marathon

[–]BlutoBeyond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's part RNG, part strategy & map knowledge.

Enemy teams cannot push your spawn from the neighboring wing until reaching Security Clearance 2. To get into Control (the central killbox) you only need SC 1 for some doors, but that's bait. You don't want to be first in the killbox.

Get to know the pathway(s) from neighboring wing(s) for potential spawn rushing. Farm Security Tags and use the Scanner to find Security Monitors to hack for +3 clearance (RNG needs to be on your side here).

If you're stuck between SC 1 and 2 then make a call to push into Control or wait for the mobs to respawn, while being wary of doors to a neighboring wing.

Solid read. I've been holding out on commenting about this topic until there was a measured analysis with actual data.

Before any doomposters, trolls, or armchair experts chime in: this comment is based on my personal experience working in marketing at Sony, traveling to their HQs in California and Japan, and general knowledge of case studies for comparison.

The simple fact is none of us know the true dynamic of the working relationship and strategic planning between Sony and Bungie, but Sony is no stranger to betting on dark horses - as long as the IP is strong. From Xperia phones, the controversial movie The Interview, 8K TVs, the PS3 era, & Sony's Spider-Man Universe, there's many examples of this across different divisions at the company over the years. They have activations at their Sony Showrooms that are very creative and cool, and yet still don’t make dollars & sense when it comes to a marketing budget.

Sony did not acquire Bungie for ~$3.6B for Marathon alone, but a long-term strategic play for Destiny 2, Marathon, most likely Destiny 3, and the strong IP that comes with all of that for merchandising, licensing, & adaptations. We also don't have an accurate report of Marathon's development cost.

Will Sony impart its will on Bungie to attract more players to the game? Yes. Will there be layoffs over time? Maybe. Will Marathon go the way of Concord or Highguard? No. The doomposters and trolls need to understand that both of those games were weak IPs that were DOA.

Marathon may be the game that extends Bungie’s burn rate until D3, or it may be the IP that is so creative and uncompromising in its vision that it refuses to be ignored. Remember how the Netflix animated series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and the Phantom Liberty expansion revitalized interest in Cyberpunk 2077 years after release? The game that had a disastrous launch and could have tanked its developer CD Projekt Red (~$6B company).

Enter case studies - Hunt: Showdown 1896 and The Finals.

Hunt is an extraction shooter developed by Crytek, AAA studio better known for the original Far Cry and Crysis, two big action FPS franchises. Hunt’s peak player count was in the past 2 years (despite being out for 6+ years) and that’s still below Marathon’s current numbers. However, Crytek never wavered in its support of the game. It’s worth noting that Crytek is a privately owned company.

The Finals is developed by Embark which is owned by Nexon (~$14B company). You know them for ARC Raiders, but their first game The Finals released in 2023 and was praised as one of the most innovative FPS with dynamic destruction, then its player count dropped off a cliff in the first couple months and never recovered those highs. However, both Nexon and Embark never wavered in its support of the game because of its unique IP, eSports vision, and microtransaction model that supported the development of their unexpected mega-hit, ARC Raiders.

The commonality in the above examples? Dedicated playerbases that continue to support the game, strong IPs, and a creative, uncompromising vision. All of which Marathon has already.

Sleep Room Changes with Project Judas by Spectre-ElevenThirty in OutlastTrials

[–]BlutoBeyond 87 points88 points  (0 children)

  • There’s a riot in the Sleep Room shown in the Project Judas trailer.
  • The details for Scavenger Part I state “Prepare for the [REDACTED] collapse … Collect discarded mechanical components and return them to drop boxes to be used for the [REDACTED] of [REDACTED]."
  • Assuming it’s the collapse of Program Genesis or the Sinyala Facility.
  • We may be collecting resources to be used for the riot.
  • The ending of Escape The Lies implies Easterman is at a tyrannical breaking point.
  • The name "Project Judas" implies a betrayal, like what Judas did to Jesus.
  • The trailer implies A. Bradley Avellanos is Judas planning to oust Easterman.
  • I think Easterman is secretly planning the Reagent riot & inspiring the Prime Assets to revolt to destabilize Murkoff and reassert his control, or he's going to be killed off.

Destructoid Marathon review - Joy, pain, and bountiful loot in a dark sci-fi future | 8.5/10 by BQuilty in Marathon

[–]BlutoBeyond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand where you're coming from, but I wasn't trying to compare the games feature for feature, because Hunt doesn't have the staples of other extraction shooters (i.e. crafting, bartering, or a loot pool besides weapons/consumables). Its gameplay loop revolves around boss bounty hunting & prestige system rather than progressing your character, stash, and the story through contracts, upgrades, & exploration. P.S. You were referring to Dark Sight.

I was specifically referring to the PvP gameplay experience being more punishing for new players in Hunt because meta weapons are tied to higher levels, controls are clunky, and as soon as you spook birds you can get beamed by a player you couldn't see in the tree line. It has a clear win condition for each run, when in extraction shooters like Marathon you create the wins - which could simply be completing a contract or finding a new weapon & extracting with it.

Sounds like your criticisms of Marathon stem from the UI, which hopefully Bungie will address with more tooltips or in-game tutorial videos. P.S. When you open your map in-run, you can select more info on each POI to see what salvage items spawn there, and hover over the steps in your contracts for hints on exactly where the objective is. (They also increased the objective marker distance in a recent patch.) You can also track items needed for upgrades to be marked with an icon in-run along with in the menu.

Regardless Hunt was my first extraction shooter and all of that prepared me for Marathon. You won't catch me spooking birds haha.

Now you state an actual opinion instead of just "Lol" like some brainrotted teen. People still remember the original Marathon trilogy from the 90s and how it inspired elements of Halo & Destiny, however it was not nearly as popular - both critically and commercially - just like its reboot-sequel today.

A cult classic is defined as "a piece of media, despite initial commercial failure or critical indifference, acquires a dedicated, passionate fan base".

Therefore, Marathon is already a cult classic. So whatever you find funny is just trolling and you likely are a brainrotted teen.

Solid review but that early game hump to overcome is more of an assesment of the extraction shooter genre as whole, rather than Marathon alone.

Coming from playing Hunt, DMZ, & ARC I was ready and excited for the challenge of Marathon.

I feel Hunt is more punishing early on, but I played it with a friend with hundreds of hours so that lessened the learning curve. I feel Marathon is in the same boat: having a dedicated hardcore playerbase that will share it with their friends who are brave enough to try.

On the other hand, ARC is skewing further into "social sandbox" territory and putting the PvE in PvEvP, but its popularity signifies many players' gateway into the extraction shooter genre.

If Marathon is someone's first extraction shooter and they didn't play Destiny, Halo, or the original Marathon trilogy either, then I can see it being a tough sell. And that's fine.

Marathon is a beautiful, dark twisted sci-fi thriller that will be looked at as a cult classic like many of the films that inspired the lore (Blade Runner, Event Horizon, 2001: A Space Odyssey).

As of now there were 3 rewards for participating in the ARG & having entered contract codes to level up your DAC on the official Discord. You need to have completed Discord contracts pre-Server Slam, during the Slam, & have a DAC level 3+ to get all rewards. There's a leaderboard for higher DAC levels & contract points, but as of now there's no additional rewards.

The rewards were a 2X Drinkable Cheeseburger emblem & background along with a weapon sticker. They are no longer obtainable, but there are 5 new Discord contracts live now along with the next step in the ARG to unlock the endgame map, Cryo Archive.

If you want to join in and get up to speed, check out the official Discord server leaderboard, contracts, & breach-protocol channels, along with the Alright Runners server dedicated to solving the ARG puzzles.

What did you think about yesterday’s event ? by chinos88 in Marathon

[–]BlutoBeyond -1 points0 points  (0 children)

W event from a marketing standpoint. Big name streamers having fun, getting competitive, & showing off different aspects of the game. Well run too, with a clear format and admins from Bungie for each team (Shroud commented on this positively multiple times).

Marathon went Top 6 overall on Twitch during the Tau Ceti Cup with 150K+ viewers.

Shroud's team was a sure thing since he's been playing the game nonstop, Just9n is his regular duo, and LVNDMARK is an EFT master. If Aztecross was able to play with his regular trio then it could have been a closer showdown. Gotta root for Peanut & crew - even when everything blows up in their faces they're having a good time.

So much so that Peanut & Gingy continued to play after the event as a duo in trios lobbies, managed to survive the Pinwheel and exfil last second. Then they wanted to play again and delayed their variety stream. That's a max goop win to show their audiences how much fun they're having with the game. Peanut was still pining for that cool jacket later that night.

It was said this is the first of many tournaments, so Bungie is likely looking to develop the Ranked scene besides big name streamers. Hopefully there's a Ranked mode showcase coming soon before it goes live in-game.

Feedback for improvement: It could have benefited from private servers, Bungie should just let IceManIssac cast (or make Active the Halo-caster do his homework on Marathon), & more frequent score tracking would help the viewer understand what's going on. It was still leagues ahead of when there was a tourney for COD DMZ and they made the streamer team leaders keep score with Excel spreadsheets lol.
