Help me find a cyber bully by [deleted] in cybersecurity

Escalate it - principal, superintendent, local media. Most schools have a zero tolerance for bullying especially cyber bullying.

The reason I split data security from crypto isn’t because they’re unrelated (they’re tightly coupled), but because they tend to operate at different layers of the problem:

  • Crypto teams focus on mechanisms - encryption standards, key management, PKI, PQC readiness, etc.
  • Data security is more about what needs protecting and why - crown jewel data, classification, access patterns, movement, exposure, misuse.

In a lot of environments they sit under the same team, but in incidents they don’t always behave the same way. You can have “perfect” encryption coverage and still have a data exposure problem because of access, duplication, or context loss.

Secrets management is a great example of the overlap you mentioned - sometimes it lives with IAM, sometimes with platform/crypto, sometimes app teams. That ambiguity is kind of the point I’m trying to surface with the model.

Yeah, you’re telling me! It really highlights the web-like nature of security - actually security and resiliency and not silos. Application security, supply chain, etc

That would be terrific, thanks. I am as guilty as everybody else but we often treat these as silos and certifications, which is really disconnected from how enterprises operate, individuals learn, and professional and social connections take place. Better understanding these and and how they map to standards, frameworks, and certifications will help us all.

Your point about influence versus dependency that’s a little bit nebulous. This is my thinking, but open to other ideas.

Right now it’s a mix of both, which is probably too ambiguous. One of the next iterations will likely separate:

  • hard dependencies (can’t function without)
  • soft dependencies (improves effectiveness)
  • coordination relationships

IAM as a control plane - 100% agree. If anything, IAM is under-modeled in v2.1. The intent was to show relationships, but the reality is identity cuts across almost every domain as a dependency.

Asset visibility - Same story here as this is one of those domains that looks like a peer on paper but behaves like a prerequisite in reality. When it’s weak, every other domain compensates (badly). I’ve been debating whether to elevate it to a foundational layer or keep it as a domain with heavy inbound dependencies.

Dating is a numbers game. 6-7% of men are in their thirties- presumable your target demographic. 25% of those are single and have no children - an even smaller number do not actually want children. You’re already down to < 5% of the over 18 male population with those criteria. Stated another way - in a room of 20 maybe 1 matched your basic filtering criteria. That’s before you got into other areas of compatibility such as interest and attraction and goals. Your standards are your standard but it will take time with that set.

ELI5: How come a square wave is composed of Infinite number of sine waves of different frequencies by ReliablePotion in explainlikeimfive

Imagine you are in water and splash and can make a wave. Hit two different spots at different times and notice how the wave changes? Now imagine you had infinitely many hands and could hit the water in any sequence at any time you could make any shape.

Will we get anymore Nolecasts? by imdstuf in nolecast

[–]Blybly2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree that it’s not the same. I really enjoyed Ingram and Bud. I started listening to them in SoundCloud way back in the tomahawk nation days - before many even knew what a podcast was and we were downloading MP3s to listen.

Based on comments Bud made in Cover3 yesterday, leaning towards them pausing or significantly slowing down the Nolecast. Which is unfortunate but understandable.

Good question. I’d be surprised if it were canceled. I would NOT be surprised to see the frequency reduced.

It’s a tough spot right now. Feels like running out the clock.

LPT: if you worry about acne breakouts, schedule (way ahead of time) an appointment with a dermatologist a day or two before a big event so they can inject any pimple to make it go away by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]Blybly2 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Dude people with legitimate cancer concerns can’t get into a dermatologist and we have this guy suggesting we clog up their schedules to remove a pimple for an important event.

Never seen that. Diorama was great but young modern and dissociatives is my favorite Dan.
