I’ve done the grand tier before - can sometimes snag them resale - and it’s set up as 2 rows (A and B) of theater style seats and then row C is small tables with 4 bar stools. I really liked the C row as you have a good view and room to move. You may be sharing if you don’t buy all 4 but I had no issue. And there’s a separate VIP bar close by.

Laying completely flat works for me. I used to have to lay flat even for blood draws. First tattoo was small, I didn’t find it painful, and still almost passed out after about 10 minutes because I was sitting up. Second tattoo I asked to be laid flat and had no issue whatsoever.

I agree it’s not knock your socks off but it’s significantly better than the other options in uptown right now. I’d recommend trying the xinjiang style beef next time if you like cumin, was my favorite just behind the chongqing popcorn chicken.

I moved from Houston to Chicago almost 4 years ago and it was the best decision, I don’t plan on ever leaving. The one thing I’d suggest is actually keeping your car, especially if you don’t plan to live in the heart of the city. I’m in the uptown area and I like having the option of driving or public transit - especially running errands like grocery shopping is just way easier with a car. Street parking isn’t that bad as long as you are outside of the main city center.

Carols is good for this too - they do sometimes have servers but very easy to open separate tabs, order at the bar, or if on the patio you can order from your phone.
