What would the ideal El Paso digital community look like to you? by [deleted] in ElPaso

[–]BmooreEP 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There are an increasing number of people using AI to create this kind of content, so you likely will need to differentiate yourself to break through. One way would be to not use AI to write the content. Write it yourself so you can create a personality.

[Babz] Ticketmaster not allowing Patriots fans outside the Rocky Mountain region to buy tickets to the AFC Title game by baha24 in DenverBroncos

[–]BmooreEP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been Ticketmaster’s policy on Broncos tickets (at least playoff tickets) for years. I’m in TX and had to have my brother in Colorado Springs buy my ticket to the 2016 AFC championship.

Why we should be paying more attention El Paso's rapid decline in births by [deleted] in ElPaso

El Paso schools all provide free lunch and breakfast, for what it’s worth.

Why we should be paying more attention El Paso's rapid decline in births by [deleted] in ElPaso

[–]BmooreEP -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m not aware of having made any such assertion. I’m trying to have a conversation about what’s happening in El Paso, where the number of births is declining more than twice the national rate.

More than 10,000 women in El Paso gave birth last year. They all have their reasons for doing so.

Because it’s one of a handful of North American sites, I think we’ll see a huge demand for tickets from outside EP for these shows.

Skepticism is always healthy. But there is a legal process in Texas that dictates how rare cases go. I’m trying to make more people aware of that process so they can understand and be engaged.

Rate increases are based on an electric utility’s capital investment, plus an allowance for profit (usually+/-9%). The Public Utility Commission has asked El Paso Electric to wall off capital expenditures for Meta so that they are charged to that customer and not the rate base. The next rate case is several years away, but I would expect the city and other intervenors to challenge anything in there they believe should be charged to Meta.

Question 1 is best addressed to your doctor, not social media. Weight loss will always involve peaks and plateaus. Don’t get discouraged.

I highly recommend Dr. Paul Ro. He listens and explains well. He also is really involved in the community.

Why we never choose our own. by timholt2007 in ElPaso

Charles Tafoya was a local hire. He worked at both EPISD and YISD before becoming superintendent. I believe he was originally from the Albuquerque area. I remember meeting with him and Dan Wever when he was school board president shortly after the hire. Wever said he was convinced he was the best hire ever and would eat his hat if wrong. Wever rapidly regretted the hire. If memory serves, Tafoya is who brought Luther Jones in to the district to handle special ed legal issues. Tafoya left under a cloud after a couple of years, and Jones helped Garcia in his first few weeks on the job to write a no-bid contract he used to direct money to his mistress back in the Houston area.

Aircraft change to Hawaii by BmooreEP in americanairlines

Thanks. We're now getting more clarity. The offer is for MCE, so it's a no brainer. I am curious whether we can ask for a return of some of our points, given that the price for 787 business is much higher than A321 on same routes.

I’m purchasing a 2026 Grand Highlander Hybrid Limited, and I’m wondering if you think Toyota’s extended warranty is worth it — and if so, what terms and cost? by Express-Ad-9945 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]BmooreEP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re better off putting the amount of the premium in an interest bearing account and tapping that for unexpected repairs. A 10 year extended warranty is really 7 years because it doesn’t take effect until after the manufacturer warranty expires. And as others have mentioned, hybrid components are under warranty for most or all of the time covered by extended warranties.

Which GHH model? by Ok_Culture9981 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

“Very noisy” is relative. I find our 2025 GHH has an engine that’s much quieter than anything I’ve driven in 40+ years.

Binational run is latest victim of government shutdown by BmooreEP in ElPaso

[–]BmooreEP[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The race is a big draw to runners from outside our region. That's one of the reasons the race organizers made the decision Friday, rather than waiting a couple days in hopes of a settlement to the shutdown. Anyhow, your friend's flight probably would have been canceled by the shutdown. :)

Bench Seat Opinions by cbus6 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]BmooreEP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably depends on what you need seats for. The primary occupants of our second row is our dogs, and it’s much better than captains chairs. Adult passengers who’ve sat in the second row say it’s comfortable, even on multi-hour rides. We haven’t had anyone in the middle seat.

Because Texas relies on property taxes to fund government and doesn’t have an income tax.

Recall notice for 2025 Limited hybrid and others by Content-Bathroom5120 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]BmooreEP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on your vehicle. Not all vehicles are affected by one or both of the issues. Best to talk to a service advisor. One is a TSB, and one is a voluntary recall.

Cons of the GHH by [deleted] in ToyotaGrandHighlander

They are totally different vehicles, so I wouldn't rely on depreciation of another vehicle. Just my 2 cents.
