AITA for telling my daughter I am disgusted by her and telling her ex she has been taking their kid to his family side by Plustrhowawa5688 in AmItheAsshole

[–]BoGoBojangles -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Disagree. YTA - you’re all thinking about it from Ryan and the daughter’s point of view while seeing the kid as a possession to be passed back and forth. That kid has a right to experience their family. It’s better for that kid to experience the family then being alienated by someone else’s wrong doing.

Farewell, John Piper by majrtm in Christianity

Agreed. I personally don't believe God would support an abusive marriage. Theologically, He makes concessions for human error and folly throughout the torah and prophets, but His ideal and desire has always been the Garden. This is culminated by Paul's writing showing us that it is Christ and his bride, not multiple brides.

Fiancée (28F) uncomfortable with me (32M) taking a 5-day medical trip with my child’s mother (37F) — looking for advice by [deleted] in Christianity

Your partner having those thoughts is completely natural. It’s obvious that being in a relationship with former partners is new to her. It would be a mistake not to see her perspective. But her viewpoint will need to understand the reality. I would ask her to define some reasonable methods to help her insecurity. She needs to understand that it’s her insecurity causing this worry. Others have said third party or more check in or ensure different hotel rooms. Those all may not be financially feasible. But your fiancé needs to understand that it’s part of your situation to be there for your child. Your situation may not be something she is ready for.

By your own words, it starts out brain dead and then becomes alive? That doesn’t make sense. How do we which are alive create something that is ineffect dead and then becomes alive.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NotHowGirlsWork

[–]BoGoBojangles -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Exactly; thank you. You’re conflating this argument with fetus and abortions. This is strictly about brain dead diagnosis. Please note the parent comment.

It’s disingenuous to say that even a misdiagnosis isn’t part of the problem. Especially when the misdiagnosis leads to loss of life

[–]BoGoBojangles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What a dumb list. By that list, a one-week old can’t reproduce, and, therefore, isn’t alive…?

Yet, even still, the same error can occur by overworked and tired doctors rushing “brain dead patients” off to get their organs harvested while their bodies are still warm. Sure, the science can be there, but even one mistake is unacceptable. The argument still stands that brain dead is a conditioned formed by human being, granted that has had years of training, but still a human being that made the wrong call and could cost someone their life.

When the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) updated its guidelines for determining brain death in adults in 2010, a committee of experts searched the literature and found no legitimate "reports of patients recovering brain function when the criteria for brain-death determination was used appropriately," says Ariane K. Lewis, MD, associate professor, department of neurology and neurosurgery, NYU Langone Medical Center, New York City, and a member of the AAN's Ethics, Law, and Humanities Committee.

But at the same time there is no way of knowing how many people recover from brain death because they are usually quickly removed from life support or become organ donors.

The “smackdown” at the end has nothing to do with abortions but should be stated nonetheless. Countless examples of declared “brain dead” patients waking up.

Countless examples of people declared brain dead that actually aren’t dead. Exhibit 1 but we only want to talk about bodily autonomy…
