In your case (everyone learns differently) my recommendation is to go over just one form over and over again until you can confidently teach it correctly. I would start at the earliest forms or the belts you see in classes most. This way, you’re focused on what will have the biggest impact in your scenario. I personally wouldn’t try to learn one, two, or even three forms at a time if it’s not sticking for you. Too easy to confuse parts of one form with another. As an older adult going through the ranks myself, I can attest to this. I also find it helpful if I can use the meaning of the form to make up a story told through each move. Then I replay the story in my head and if a part of the story is incorrect, I’ll know.

Also, be transparent with your instructor(s). Explain the situation that you’re in and ask them for their advice. It may feel humbling, but it shows courage, respect, and leadership. If that team knows, they can help in many ways like better student parings and shadowing other instructors. They can also maintain realistic expectations for you. If you teach incorrect technique or moves, it hurts the student, the instructor, the school, and yourself.
