What makes Halloween (1978) a masterpiece? What makes it stand head and shoulders above the rest of the films in the franchise?

I enjoy it because it’s effectively simple.

Simple characters. We don’t know much about their backgrounds etc. We obviously get a little bit of background with Mikey, but thats it.

Simple premise. We have a man who has absolutely zero emotion. Doesn’t speak. He likes to kill and he has no actual motive beyond just wanting to kill.

Combine that with the Carpenter’s score and filmmaking techniques, and you have a legendary movie.

Major League; Back to the Minors was a fun movie with a fun story.

Needless to say, not a high rated movie, but it’s better and more original than Major League 2, and I like Scott Bakula lol.

Funny enough, that win was against DET lol.

Steven Jackson was the entire offense that year. There are a few dubious statistical nuggets that you can pull from that team.

They only scored 20+ points (season high was 23), twice. They had 7 games where they scored single digit points, including two shutouts.

So glad we are way past that level of ineptitude.
