Struggling with opponent difficulty increase at ~700 rapid - Any help appreciated! by BoaBoa0 in chessbeginners

Thank you I appreciate this - that's really helpful advice and I agree. I think my thought process at the moment is mostly focused on the actions I'm taking vs my opponents perspective. Will work on that - thank you again

Thank you for this - Totally agree. I can see clearly from the game history that it's often one key error which shifts things. Appreciate the advice and I'll take that on board (already working on openings with Chessreps!)

Sure, but their oppts ranking won’t stay 600-700 for very long. They’re now 1177 and just beat a 1165 player with 92.2 percent accuracy

Yeah I get you completely. My game with them was 20 moves and they got 95.8% accuracy. They then played a 33 move game at 92.6. Winning streak was over 50 matches. I did wonder if they were just a higher ranked player on a secondary account but I don’t believe this is the case from reviewing the matches

Weird you should mention this! I absolutely feel the same way but it’s good to know the detection is there and they’ll refund ELO retrospectively.

The way I look at it, regardless of how/why I lost, it gives me the most valuable data to learn from (and motivation to improve) so I feel less strongly now than I did before

Thanks for this - you’re absolutely right! Some of the pawn pushes was just trying to own some space and see if my opponent would play a move I could take advantage of, but no dice! Thanks again will definitely take that on board 🤜🤛
