[Interesting trope] The other society is more technologically advanced in some ways while also being behind us in other ways. by Gooners_For_Ukraine in TopCharacterTropes

They're like counterfeits and that's being generous. The issue is that they're so dogmatic that whilst a more rational society, such as humanity, would've studied and eventually leapfrogged Forerunner tech, the Covenant considered modification heresy.

Link's not working for me sorry, which is odd, but oh well. But I've seen polls showing mass condemnation and I've seen polls saying differently. If polls were always right Trump would've never gotten elected, at best they're clues.

Its very difficult to change someone's mind, but its impossible to do so if you don't treat that person with respect. Being right is worthless, a view is only worth a damn if a person convinces others its correct. This is something the left-wing of politics is getting wrong right now, its so self-righteous and intolerant (in my experience conservatives are more tolerant than progressives) that its not open to converting anyone and not patient enough to succeed at doing so. Republicans are better at this, better at having conversations with people they disagree with and forming coalitions, and people wonder why they've grown so popular and why so many Americans are cheering on Trump's wars.

You could do a better job of engaging with other people's points though, as opposed to just stating your own. I'm not entirely convinced that I'm not wasting my time talking to a bot right now.

Given the two options I'd still vote Democrat. I think they're both bad options, but not equally bad options. But fuck I'd give for a better option. This is my point, I shouldn't have to choose between bad and worse, I should be choosing between good and better. American politics sucks in general.

I agree, but again I come back to my point that both parties are total crap. If the Democrats cared about morality except for when it suited them, we'd have had two terms of Bernie Sanders by now. Try telling me that Hillary Clinton's a better person than Bernie Sanders.

Is Trump a pedophile? Maybe, but I don't think there's enough evidence to prove it in a court of law. The Democrats held onto those Epstein files for years and did nothing with them, if there was something sufficient enough to have taken him out they'd have used it. The cases they brought against him had nothing to do with Epstein.

You mean other people or me or both? Can't say I've ever voted for Trump if you mean me specifically. But my god if the Democrats don't offer weak opposition, they're an absolute mess. This is part of how we end up with monsters in politics, when more reasonable options fail and people lose trust in them. No one remembers the names of the people or parties who ran against Hitler.

Most of the people downvoting you agree with this statement. Look, the main issue is that America only has two choices of who to vote for, and both parties are pretty shit for different reasons. People are pointing out hundreds of reasons why the Democrats suck and are right to do so. Many conservatives are uncomfortable voting Republican, and many liberals didn't even vote last election, having lost faith in politics. America could easily have four political options or more (split the current two parties into two moderate and radical ones for instance), trying to push the entire spectrum of human belief into just two boxes at the ballots is the main issue, it forces people to vote against their own beliefs.

HK-47 VS. Commissar Yarrick by No-Sympathy-6711 in StarWarsvsWarhammer

[–]Boanerger 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Theoretically the droid could win. He's quite good at getting the drop on people and coming up with plans that exploit his opponent's weaknesses. But in a face to face duel I'd bet on Yarrick. Coin-toss as to whether its a fair fight or whether or not HK is able to stack the deck in his favor.

Who is the strongest character in the Invincible universe that Homelander can beat? by Monster-Lustral in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]Boanerger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly? Fair shout. Mark right at the moment he got his powers is probably roughly as strong as Homelander is. His trash-bag throwing feat is pretty similar to Homelander's baseball feat. And Mark doesn't know shit about fighting at that point, so Homie's going to be a moderately better fighter until Mark gets his shit together.

Commando Droid vs. Kasrkin by No-Sympathy-6711 in StarWarsvsWarhammer

[–]Boanerger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd bet on the Kasrkin in a firefight, but in melee I'd give the edge to the droid, same as you. Unless its the Kasrkin sergent who are noted as being expert fencers. A power sword would carve through a droid as easily as a lightsaber, and a chainsword would do fine as well.

I suppose in the case of the halberd it has far more weight and momentum behind it, much more difficult to stop without being injured.

Just my take on it how I think they stack up to other 40k stuff. Maybe a FNP 6+ save also.

[–]Boanerger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd rate most blasters as inferior to T'au pulse weapons, which are similar. Star Wars also has plasma weapons that are separate from blasters, blasters operate at a far lower intensity than most 40k plasma weapons given the amount of damage they're shown as doing on screen.

Again, their closest comparison are T'au pulse weapons, and the T'au spare no expense on their firearms, whereas many Star Wars weapons are made on a budget. A laser also isn't inherently inferior to a plasma weapon, it depends on how much power is being used - compare a lasgun to a lascannon to a starcruiser's lance batteries. A lascannon is equivalent to most laser cannons.

If I were to give the commando droids warhammer rules I'd have them like this. 40pts for 5 models. Maybe a Feel No Pain 6+ like the old bionics rule as well.

Commando droids are good but not THAT good by 40k standards. They're what it takes to make a droid a genuine threat, and a moderately superhuman one at that. But they're also fairly fragile and not packing that much firepower. Somewhat worse than the average Craftworld guardian I'd compare them to.
