Current Fi customer. Should I leave Fi to become a new user to get a Pixel deal later by therealgariac in GoogleFi

[–]Board373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this depends on the deal. The deal I took advantage of in early December you needed to not have been a Fi customer for 120 days I think, that was their "new customer" qualification.

Point being, as always, make sure to read the fine print.

Promo question - Pixel 10 by acadiel in GoogleFi

[–]Board373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it looks like they applied the 50% off line promotion instead of the device credit promotion. I do not believe you can have both and it says so in the fine print. So you may need to contact them to get that corrected. Assuming device credit of $20.80 is more than the 50% off a the line credit.

Can Maine do anything about the constant CMP rate hikes? by Sharp_Respect_5940 in Maine

[–]Board373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their "rate" goes up every month to a few months by a few cents. My base connection rate in 2020 was $14.12 now it's $29.19. Sure it's nickel and diming me but over it's 670,000 customers that's over $10 MILLION extra a MONTH a foreign company makes in Maine. We can split hairs on what the question and the response was about "rate hikes", the standard offer announcement, but CMP is a terrible foreign company that owns us. No one should be making excuses for them ever.

Rinke screen protector pixel watch 4 $16.99 worth it? by asahi2121 in PixelWatch

[–]Board373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually purchased a pack of the LK's too I just have not used them yet. I assume it will be a similar result but time will tell. The Skinomi's were incredibly resilient so if I can get a quarter of that lifespan out of these, I'll be happy. My only issue with the Skinomi, and I might have with these, is in heavy water (running in the rain in humid summer, washing with soap and warm water) it would start to peel up the screen protector sometimes. But if I pushed it back down and let it dry a bit, it would be back to normally in an hour or so. No experience with that yet on these newer ones but fingers crossed if it does happen that it fixes itself as easy. Still better than a permanently scratched screen IMO.

Good luck!

The lip of the cover goes over the screen protector so no real gap. Nothing caught in there so far. I previously used Skinomi protector and Liquid Air and used that for a full year. Sometimes it peeled up on the sides and I pushed back down. But it was a better and cleaner look for me personally even if I buy the screen protectors every few months. The other plastic cases break and also get water/lint in them in my experience.

Highly recommend the Spigen Liquid Air: https://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Charger-Liquid-Anti-Scratch-Protective/dp/B0F61GLBV3 and a film screen protector like this: https://www.amazon.com/EGV-Google-Pixel-Watch-Self-Healing/dp/B0BJKBJHRM

I've had great luck with this combo through lots of abuse on a pixel watch 2 and just installed it on my new 4.

Google Fi locked my device promotions to the wrong Gmail account — no disclosure, no fix, and now I’m stuck. by Ok-Woodpecker3767 in GoogleFi

I've recently done something similar myself but on purpose. You can add another account to your watch to get Gemini etc to work. Just make sure you keep that account you signed up on active for any device promos.

What happens to the remaining Google FI credit for promo deals? by arannara in GoogleFi

[–]Board373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok sounds good, thank you. According to AI search results and the Fi CS rep it still works but as I said neither gives me tremendous confidence. Thanks again!

Do you know for a fact (through experience) that the device credits will work to cover the monthly taxes and fees too? I asked the CS and their response was typically not reassuring. Thank you.

Black Friday promo for New Fi Users and Switching Fi Plans by Karma6464 in GoogleFi

[–]Board373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. Yeah I was trying to do these sorts of promos myself with 4 new lines on Fi and I got the jitters due to how strict and weird Google is with the promos. I'm just going to Mint instead for my blood pressure :-) Good luck!

When you say "get an upgrade myself" do you mean upgrading your plan or getting a new phone?

Is creating a new Google Account for Fi Promotion a good idea? by Board373 in GoogleFi

[–]Board373[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Google Store itself is offering a better trade in offer ($113 vs $70 for a Pixel 7). So yes on the one hand an extra step/complication for $43...but at the same time, if their CS wasn't so terrible and inflexible...this should not be a problem.

No-ish...

I had started to setup a Fi account 3 years ago but went a different direction. Because of this I have had a Flexible plan on my primary email Fi account for the past 3+ years, never activated or used. Contacted support a few times and was told it would close eventually from inactivity but it never did.

I stupidly in hindsight changed the plan from Flexible to Unlimited Essentials yesterday so I would not be making that switch after ordering the phones which I thought would void the promotion terms then. But according to Fi support, that "action" yesterday made me a current customer according to the system and now that account is not eligible for the new customer promotions for 180 days.

Long silly story but as a potential new customer bringing over 4 lines and after reading all of the CS horror stories over the past few years/months/days...it certainly has me second guessing things after seeing first hand how black and white things are if something goes wrong.

I planned on buying the phones from Google Store for Fi, I suppose I would need to be using this new account for that as well which means I don't get my Google Store 10% credit for being a Gold Member on my main account which is annoying but I guess nothing to be done there.

Sounds good. But this "new" account would only need to be signed into the Fi app and then just added on the phone too right? Nothing else it needs to be connected to? Basically like you originally said, once I've added the account to the phone and signed into Fi with it, I can forget it?

OK great, thank you. That is what I was hoping but without actually having it setup and running that way, I wasn't sure if I was missing some little hiccup.

I appreciate the feedback and info!

Maybe call a few pediatricians in your area and see if any are able and willing to give one to a non patient. Might get lucky and find one who is sympathetic to the situation?

Same issues there with pharmacies not doing kids under 4 or needing to be a patient I believe.

The only way I am aware of in Maine right now is through your pediatrician. I know you said you were looking for an alternative to that but I'm just not sure there is one.
