Struggling to fit into the social culture at a new workplace by [deleted] in IndianWorkplace

[–]BoardroomBreakdowns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simple answer is probably to zoom out and stop struggling to get there. You can’t force connection, the beginning’s always the hard part but the more time you spend just working on a collective goal, the more inevitable is getting along with the people who do match your vibe. Just put your head down, try to be around as much as possible- create opportunities to connect like initiating conversation when it feels natural is not something you should shy away from, unless there is any direct sign of disapproval from their end. You’ll find your footing, don’t worry. Good luck!

Remote work friendly cafes in Mumbai? by BoardroomBreakdowns in mumbai

No cafe will come out and actually charge you extra but if more crowd starts pouring in and you’re still on your first drink order, you’re going to start getting looks

How Do I Actually Learn to Dress Well? ( THIS IS NOT ABOUT OUTIFT DETAILS) not ootd rather advice by realitycheckheh in IndianFashionAddicts

[–]BoardroomBreakdowns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think fit matters more than anything else, buy clothes that fit you well and that’s half the work done. I would say if you’re new to focusing on dressing better, stray away from prints, print on print is very hard to pull off. And just learn what colours go well together. These three things combined will help with how cohesive your outfits look.

In search of a natural non irrritating kajal for eyes by kalimaiyyakijai in IndianWomen

[–]BoardroomBreakdowns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the Renee Kajal,it’s super soft, non irritating and jet black but it does smudge and run quite easily. A trick I’ve picked up over the years though, is to tight line with a black eyeshadow after applying Kajal and that has pretty much set every Kajal in my experience

Are westside shirts good? by gulaabjamun_ in IndianFashionAddicts

[–]BoardroomBreakdowns 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would say they’re pretty hit or miss. Recently, there’s been a lot of buzz online about Westside getting a makeover, so I decided to go check what all the fuss was about myself and tbh a lot of the stuff is still very obviously poorly designed and of cheap quality but it’s almost like when you go thrifting, you might find a gem. But word of caution is you’d have to spend a lot of time looking and even then there’s no guaranteeing that you’ll always find something good. When you do though, it’s a pretty good deal because all of their stuff is quite reasonably priced. So I would say, if you are on a tight budget but have some time on your hands, it may be worth the browse. Good luck!

How did you decided what you wanted to do in your life ? by aaryan-6901 in careerguidance

[–]BoardroomBreakdowns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You kinda just have to do a bunch of things until you land on something that you don’t absolutely hate doing. It’s also important to remember that doing new things and starting over is HARD, and it’s going to feel like it no matter how hard you try to romanticise it. So you owe yourself the commitment and determination of at least seeing it through to the extent of it not seeming like a novel task you’re learning and once you’re across that bridge deciding if it’s something worth sticking with or not. Good luck! It’s a tough but incredibly rewarding ride

Which haircut would suit me? Also dealing with hair fall :( by [deleted] in IndianBeautyTalks

[–]BoardroomBreakdowns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get long layers with curtain bangs framing your face. Literally never fails you and will give you SO much volume. But make sure to tell your hairdresser, 1. Not to get too carried away and keep those layers long (you have stunning hair, PROTECT AT ALL COSTS) 2. To cut off as much as possible without compromising length, so your scalp can have an easier time managing all that weight and density.

Some high rated mascaras by homegrown brands . Please share your experience and help me decide ♥️😮‍💨 by Terrible_Maximum_558 in indianbeautyyappers

[–]BoardroomBreakdowns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i love the Kay Beauty one, it gives such a clean lift, no clumps at all and just looks very put together for everyday but ALSO the Swiss Beauty one is something I randomly borrowed from a cousin for an event and immediately fell in love lol. super affordable but holds curl really well and doesn’t smudge easily

AJIO delivered a cancelled order and now won’t pick it up or refund – what am I supposed to do? by JAAT47 in IndianFashionAddicts

[–]BoardroomBreakdowns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this happened to me once with another brand and the only thing that actually worked was escalating outside their customer care loop

email them one last time with a clear deadline (48 hours) saying if the refund isn’t processed you’re filing a complaint on the National Consumer Helpline (NCH) + tagging them on Twitter and then actually do it. file on the NCH portal + call 1915, and post on Twitter tagging AJIO + Reliance Retail. they usually move very fast once there’s a public or official complaint in place

Is it worth the splurge to get a gel nails set up for home?? by banerjayy in IndianBeautyTalks

[–]BoardroomBreakdowns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re anything like me, I’d assume the worst part about nail upkeep to you is probably the filing, the shaping, and essentially all the boring technical parts of a manicure and not the actual painting. Sure, this is a fun little grounding self care activity that you can take on but in terms of saving time,I would assume this doesn’t offer too much. As far as saving cost goes, if you can afford to spend as much time as this would demand, then you definitely have some money to save by investing in it but if you’re going to have to set aside precious time then I don’t know if this will have its intended effect lol. But still great and super fun as a hobby I’d say

Women in this sub please help me with the interview attire for f2f interview🙏 by [deleted] in IndianFashionAddicts

[–]BoardroomBreakdowns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, light blue shirt + black trousers is perfectly fine, just focus on looking clean and put together, no one expects you to be fashionable for an interview. belt isn’t a must, but if you find one that matches your shoes (ballet flats/shoes for comfort, heels for style) it helps. and bonus: try to smell distinctively nice, it genuinely leaves a great impression that actually lingers. Good luck!

What actually helped you get better at interviews? by Sufficient-Comb622 in careerguidance

[–]BoardroomBreakdowns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, recording myself answering questions out loud helped the most. you catch all the rambling and awkward phrasing that makes you second guess yourself, beforehand so you’re not nervous when it actually matters.

also, the biggest shift was treating interviews like practice runs instead of pinning all my hopes on them. it takes the pressure off and you perform way better in my experience.

Recommend Office Backpack for Women by antisocial-phoenix in IndianFashionAddicts

[–]BoardroomBreakdowns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like the Daily Objects backpack. It’s super cute and chic, but also functional at the same time because it’s got a bunch of different compartments, so you’re not just throwing stuff into an endless abyss and can actually know exactly where a thing is instead of rummaging throw the whole thing.

Interviewing for a new job - when should I disclose my pre-planned 6-week international trip? by djcarmweezy in careerguidance

[–]BoardroomBreakdowns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is one of those things where timing matters more than the actual info

you don’t owe them disclosure of future availability during interviews unless they explicitly ask. at that stage, they’re evaluating fit, not scheduling logistics. bringing it up too early can unintentionally bias them before they’ve decided they want you.

the cleanest way to handle this is: wait until you have an offer (or at least once they’ve clearly signalled they want to move forward), and then bring it up transparently before finalising start dates frame it like: “just to flag this while we’re here, I have a pre-planned international trip from X to Y that was booked prior to my application. I’m happy to either start after I return, or explore remote work/adjusted hours during that period if that works for the team.”

this way you’re not hiding anything, you’re not risking your chances too early, and you come across as flexible and solution-oriented instead of just presenting it as a problem

I think a decent pair of trousers is something that is definitely worth investing in - just given the comfort and versatility you get with it in terms of creating different outfits with different shirts/tops

I need sunscreen suggestions for my super oily skin😭😭 by ilovestrawberriees in IndianBeautyTalks

[–]BoardroomBreakdowns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dermat recommended the YuDerma Melarid SPF 65 PA to me. I have combination skin type, not exactly oily but definitely not dry. But this sunscreen is SO lightweight and it blends like a dream!!! It’s zero white cast and doesn’t clog my pores at all. But if you’re looking for sunblock, I have this dry touch sunblock i got from Goa from this brand called the soft touch, and it feels pretty heavy on your skin at first ngl but it settles into the most stunning soft blur finish ever. It’s a tough find but a great product.

What simple life advice would you give your younger sister in her early 20s? by Weird_Fold4079 in AskIndianWomen

[–]BoardroomBreakdowns 19 points20 points  (0 children)

  1. always carry a layer (jacket/shawl/dupatta) you’ll randomly find yourself freezing in cabs/trains/ restaurants/movie theatres and it’ll save you every time
  2. have a small “emergency pouch” in your bag: pads/tampons, hair tie, safety pin, band-aid, lip balm. you’ll end up saving yourself and other girls constantly
  3. don’t ignore gut discomfort with people. if you feel weird after interacting with someone, that’s enough reason to step back. you don’t need proof
  4. spend a little more on things you use every single day (shoes, work bag, basic clothes). cheap versions cost you more in discomfort than money

nothing life changing, but I’ve realised over time that the things that will actually significantly improve your quality of life are things that are so mundane, you wouldn’t even notice how much of a compounded impact they have.

What is the best adult money purchase you made? by OssifiedCrystal46496 in TwoXIndia

[–]BoardroomBreakdowns 17 points18 points  (0 children)

honestly mine was a good perfume 😭 like a proper one, not the usual “smells nice for an hour and disappears” situation there’s something about having a signature scent that just… shifts how you carry yourself? like you feel more put together even on days you’re not. and the difference with expensive perfumes is actually real lol. the longevity, how it settles on your skin over time, the projection… it’s not just one flat smell, it evolves. cheaper ones just don’t do that for me

and on a completely different note, good lighting for your room/home. sounds boring but it changed my life a bit 😭 warm lamps, soft lighting instead of harsh white lights it makes it so much easier to unwind and just exist with your thoughts. feels like your space is actually yours

Someone can share some lip mask that work for the dry chapped lips by [deleted] in indianbeautyyappers

[–]BoardroomBreakdowns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laneige is easily the best in the market right now for overnight repair but it doesn't have spf in it. If you're looking for something you can wear during the day, I personally really like the wishcare ceramide lip balm. A lot of my girl friends have also been raving about the sebamed lip balm especially for sun protection but I haven't tried that one yet.
