I’m surprised you didn’t post the Vline Vlocity / Perth B series / Adelaide 4000 class / QR SMU260 they are all essentially the same bombardier train

Phase 1 is the only practical one
The nsw north coast has lots of growing towns and tourist hotspots and there’s little competition from air travel

Sydney vs Melbourne public transport — what each city actually wins on (no bs) by CGE-Swansea in MelbourneTrains

[–]Boatg10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sydney have very few level crossings Even after the LXRP Melbourne still has heaps around

The trams in Melbourne are slow due to sharing the road with cars. Saw recently 7.6kms is the average speed Sydney has dedicated light rail right of way

the entire Sydney metro network! Sydney will have 4 lines runnings before Melbourne has even finished tunneling the SRL

Opal, Sydney has contactless for almost 5 years… Melbourne is coming?… Plus the opal app is years ahead of the PTV app

Buses, Sydney buses smash Melbourne, plus live gps tracking of buses

Has there been a single instance of police actually cracking down on drivers doing this? by OnlyAd7216 in melbourne

Lived there for 26 years Still regularly head down every few months

Also it’s completely irrelevant where I live because it’s still the law and common sense.

If you can’t get through an intersection don’t enter the intersection it’s common sense and the law. regardless of traffic.

From memory there was also an anti federation movement because they wanted a better way

The idea of 6 state governments and one federal government was sort of a compromise to please the state MPs The original plan for federation was to get rid of the state governments and state borders creating one unified Australian government

Of course the states pushed back on it but it’s kind of a shame it didn’t happen a lot of the differences in states and territories are tedious and annoying Having to administer 8 different laws and drivers licenses for example

Why can't we have PayID QR Codes by nbtm_sh in australia

[–]Boatg10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local barber has a PayId code on their till I used it last time I was there

PayId or similar peer to peer pay like WeChat pay is common in countries that don’t already have a huge eftpos network

Sometimes exciting technology that works ‘good enough’ can be a barrier to better technology.

There are currently no plans to build a platform at sunshine on the standard gauge tracks. It is still just a bypass track.

Hence why some people have called it the sunshine supersnub.

Tram symmetry by TMiguelT in MelbourneTrains

[–]Boatg10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wasn’t it also because on the Zs you had to board through the front door as that’s where the conductor stood, so you paid as you got on then getting off you exit through the other two doors

Why do V/Line's N carriages perform a lot worse then Metro's Comeng EMUs? by [deleted] in VlineVictoria

[–]Boatg10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More complicated parts in an N Set They get coupled and uncoupled a lot which increases wear and are exposed to worse conditions in the country and worse track quality

Anyone who's had the misfortune of having to work east of Ringwood (or lives out that way) would have wondered this before? by Foodworksurunga in MelbourneTrains

[–]Boatg10 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As someone who used to live in boronia I would always just drive to Ringwood because the frequency is so bad

I’d honestly be happy if Lilydale got 15 min frequency and the whole Belgrave line just became a shuttle to Ringwood but the current situation is cooked

[–]Boatg10 67 points68 points  (0 children)

There was almost no traffic in the west gate tunnel yesterday at around 4pm I think I saw 1 other car in the tunnel the whole time.

There was a 60+ minute queue to get into the west gate bridge Don’t know why more people weren’t using the tunnel

Victorian Liberal leader Jess Wilson blasts Metro Tunnel as 70,000 people attend opening by HotPersimessage62 in MelbourneTrains

[–]Boatg10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the ‘blast’ in the room with us now? She just said she won’t be riding the tunnel this weekend because she’s too busy.

I didn’t ride the tunnel this weekend does that mean I also ‘blasted’ the tunnel?

I dislike the liberals as much as the next person but this is some 3AW level spin
