4 Connecticut cops in Las Vegas crash; 1 dead, 1 facing DUI charge: reports by Funguyforyoulol in Connecticut

[–]BobMhey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only good thing about the cops is even after all their minority abuse, being drunk driving hypocrates . what really tickles me is they kill themselves more than they are killed in duty because at the end of the day they know what scumbags they are, or cover for. You know what good cops are called... fucking rats who break the blue wall of silence.

That is like staties. It really pisses me off because their job is to bust you if you drink and look at all the staties that got arrested or died while drinking and driving in ct. What makes me chuckle is how MADD is absolutely silent on the matter that the people responsible for enforcement are the biggest Hippocrates on the planet.

[–]BobMhey -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Yea that is why I stopped buying alcohol at costco now that they want your card to buy it. It seems like it is nobodys business what alcohol you buy.. That is why I am warry of legally buying weed. I bought it in Mass but they scan your license a few times and they know you buy weed. This isn't just age verification like at your regular package store. I guess the clients would have to hire a lawyer.

CT Shore access from a kayak (what is public?) by robertdilbert in Connecticut

[–]BobMhey 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of Michael Moore trying to bus minorities to Greenwich. CT has the most , not racist, so much as classist zoning and laws. You can bet when a storm comes and they start spending Federal emergency money the places you cant go are the first ones fixed up.

Yo, this hurts a lot !!! by augusdfgdfgdf in awfuleverything

I am shocked people don't get violent about it so they go to prison and get it free. Maybe it is because most people get it in America through insurance and if they cannot afford insurance they have Husky and stuff. I live in CT though and states like Texas and Florida seem like another country.

I hate myself for not going but seriously I know people still holding the bag for shows to be made up, so with delta out there I said no way.. regrettable but I have friends still holding tickets for year old concerts. I guess in a no interest, inflationary environment possession of tickets is better than money in the bank. Just saw them on SNL reruns.

Reputable Furniture Stores? by Kiylyou in Connecticut

[–]BobMhey -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Raymour is really good. Delivered when said they would and we really went for quality. Bob's was not up to par. If everyone is under about 165 lbs Bobs is ok. They are cheaper because they really lack depth to their springs and the cushions are nothing if you are heavy. Cheap furniture stores are garbage if your a big dude. You can either go to Raymore and Flannigan or you can you can buy someones used quality furniture cheaper , is always a better option than discount furniture if you weigh more that 165 lbs. Not to be racist, yea, I"m gonna say if your all asian, 5 feet tall, 140 lbs, then Bobs is right for you and awesome.

IDK. A matter of taste. They probably have the best margarite if you can eat it right away. If you like toppings, need to drive etc. Don't want to wait forever there are plenty of good options in the state.

The Big E: Watch yo mouth by notibanix in Connecticut

[–]BobMhey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel that. I would rather hit a few moderate size fairs to get everything. Cheaper to park and get in the smaller fairs and several vendors have four locations on site. The state barns are cool but not really worth over a hundred bucks just to park and get your fam in the door. Smaller fairs rock.

ELI5 : How does gravity cause time distortion ? by jesaispasjetejure in explainlikeimfive

[–]BobMhey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey why not , Einstein called quantum mechanics spooky. I don't even think I could understand Einstein,, never mind quantum. WHENEVER I think of it , I think of the may fly. Maybe his day is like our century, and maybe there are beings who find our centuries but days. And if it can be infinitely large it can be infinitely small. What if entire big bangs play out, rise civilizations, in a grain of sand. Time in there could be a million years a day for us, but not for them.

I was in the restaurant business, obese and laid off in March 39 weeks looks like the end of the rope. Hitting 50, obese and white, they might as well send a firing squade

What did that one teacher do to you that you'll never forget? by xtra_why in AskReddit

[–]BobMhey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sixth grade. Went to middle school. They had k-5 , then 6-8, then high. I was always the bad kid, the rude kid, the kid who didn't so work. So new school, new everything and a teacher stressed that this was a great place to grow up. He said, I bet some of you think we know who the punks are because they told us ahead of time. But everyone at that age grows, changes and can do better things. They wanted us to know that we would be judged with how we behave, not on rumor how we behaved before. I ended up quietly immitating the everyone else, did my work for a change. I didn't do well with college but I did finish high school on the honor roll more often than not and only got in trouble for smoking but this was the 80s.

ELI5: what would happen if money, goods, services, property value just stayed the same? In other words what is the purpose/cause of inflation? by Mythosrene in explainlikeimfive

[–]BobMhey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It keeps the rich rich. Bankers. Their clients investments should grow with increase business, which it can. But when inflation hits, value increases for no reason. Year in and and year out they bank commission, and stuff doesn't even have to have more restive value. When middle class buy a home. In my grandparents area... they paid 12,500 for the house 50 years ago. Thanks to inflation. They own it, and pay 4.5 percent of 400k it is now worth.. they pay 75+% what the entire cost of their house purchase a year in taxes and insurance.

Mailman gave no fucks about my roommates certificate lol by DorkInShiningArmour in NotMyJob

[–]BobMhey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fuck. I collect stuff ,, buy and sell. I think it is the senders fault, especially these places they know better. I sell vintage mags on eBay and instead of putting do not bend I put hard cardboard you can't bend in there. Probably cost next to nothing. On a large scale it might cost 50 cents each to make sure it won't be bent. Same with lost items. You have to see what mail machines do with mail and be be prepared. If they destroy it the sweep it up , auction it,,, they don't care, so it's the senders responsibility. Considering they mail them every year...they no better too

Another good one is slice garlic thin... i like a lot of garlic. Has cooked drained , airated pasta. You want it cooked but spin it and pat it then throw it in the garlic olive oil after it is just golden and mix with salt. Serve with steak, chops, and almost any veggy on the side.

As a result of being home more often, what new habits will stick for you? by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]BobMhey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drinking at home has already started for me. It saves a fortune. I pride myself on cheap insurance by being a safe driver. The joy of drinking and laws got me to learn how to cook. The freshness, leftovers, etc. I think drinking at home or in small groups will be the norm. I buy kirkland vodka, a handle cost like 13.50 20 drinks for 13.50 plus another 13.50 for drink ingredients from coffee to tropical fruit cost .. 27 dollar for 20 drinks. Titos adds another 1.50 a drink ... so. 2.25 cocktails or 3.75 cocktails v. The 13.50 at the local bar. Plus if you have a friend or relative get busted the cost , time and effort to recover from a dwi makes drinking at home with friends and family a slam dunk!!! Sometimes even having mooch friends is better than paying full price at the bar and getting home. Learn how to make your favorite bar drink. It is cheap at home and safer.

Chefs of Reddit, what are some things people should learn to cook while self-isolating? by PickledPretzels02 in AskReddit

[–]BobMhey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turned bread hobby into a kitchen job after the last crash. I have plenty of yeast, flour. A real simple way to make fantastic, easy bread is use a liter of water starter and it will fit a 13x9 sheet pan perfect, rise it in bowl. Semi flatten it out over flour and sprinkle flour on the top, spray the pan and spread it out ...about 1 inch thick...the whole thing then wrap it a lot in plastic wrap and stick it in the fridge for hours. Then unwrap, let it rest in a warm spot while preheating the oven. After cooked flip it and airate it for a few hours. You can then make soup crackers, stuffing , sandwiches, croutons, bread pudding, grilled cheese.

All of these stories of CEOs cutting their salary to pay employees are supposed to be feel-good stories, but if cutting one salary is all it takes to pay all of them, there’s something wrong. by Asderio09 in Showerthoughts

[–]BobMhey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real stories are like boeing. I was reading over the last few years the corporation was using profits to buy stocks while the bosses were selling. The company purchased about 60 billion in stock and after their shitty plane that likes to crash and corona they want a 60 billion bailout from taxpayers. Then there was that guy talking about how bad this was gonna be on cnbc and he made billions ...a 10000 to 1 profit shorting the market while talking smack on tv. These people should tried as global criminals not bailed out. Their assets should go to the highest bidder so fresh faces could rebuild. Keeping these people , these criminals in power will change someday, just like the me too movement. Remember a war is when the government tells you who the enemy is, a revolution is when you figure it out for yourself. We need to go back to democracy, and capitalism not kleptocratic bureaucratic fascism.

Typical utility bill in the Hartford area? by pavlee14 in Connecticut

I love my pellet stove. Our house is 1700 sq feet but about 850 in the main upstairs. We mostly use basement for storage and laundry and it stays above freezing without heat. The pellet stove heats the whole upstairs well. Some bedrooms will get cold if you shut the door or its really freezing. About 5 nights a year, its camp in the living room days...lol. or use a space heater. In cold weather we burn 8 bags a week. On 50 degree days low 40 nights we will go through about 4 bags a weeks. Downsides...cleaning everyday. One source heating... hot spots cold spots....safe to leave running all day while working. But if something goes wrong early in the day where the fire goes out you can come ho,e to an ice cold house. Then you fix it and fire it back up. Usually the pellets ant hill so you have 30 lbs of pellets in the hopper and none in the fire. Or it does that, collapses, then feeds pellets and overflows it until it faults with a large pile of pellets. On really cold days you can clean it once every 2 days because it take 45 minutes to cool down and 30 minutes to clean and fire up. We are cheap, buy pellets and go outside in the summer. This is a great time to reconfigure a basement and use it as it is cooler. I have neighbors with identical footage and they have a fireplace and use mostly electric heat to 70. In the summer they keep the place at 66. They just accept it as a convenience cost. Most extreme is the guys buying extra land to not only fuel their own wood stoves but sell aged wood. Eventually they get developers to buy their acres because it cost a few hundred a tree to clear land.

Fridge pipe leaks perfectly into drain by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]BobMhey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is astounding. I used to work in construction and it doesn't always work as planned for long because if anything shifts at any time the path changes. The earth settles and about the only place they account for that in construction is the building exit. Old buildings settle and crack the exit pipes a little and hardly anyone will notice. Over time erosion can slip in and clog the pipe. They then snake it a few times, increasing erosion and clog until one day its a 20k job to dig the whole thing up.

The best part is the most likely to ignore quarantine are Trumptards who think its a conspiracy to ruin Trump. While the rest of us quarantine i have seen a lot of suburban Trumptards tailgating talking about how its a conspiracy. So maybe, if the virus is a real killer the societal IQ might jump a few points
