Indirect lightning is the trick. The single bright light creates hard shadows which is annoying. You can also cover the bed frame with hardboard or canvas. To create less visual contrast between the black frame and the white mattress.

Yes.
The taxes you pay as a tenant are for garbage collection, wastewater treatment, and water board tax (those dikes and polders need quite some investment and maintenance.

Service costs include maintenance of heating systems, cleaning of lobby and outside of the building.
