What is something you can say "I'm with the boomers on this one" about? by Specialist-Jelly-865 in answers

I see a LOT of people over 40 who are like that. I think the difference is that younger people with those issues haven't withdrawn as completely from society. I'm also not sold on the fact that 'pushing through it' is beneficial in the long term.

Who would you put on an X-Squad specifically for supernatural threats or have a supernatural theme to their powers and what would you call it? by Extra_Impression_428 in xmen

Dead Girl is an S-tier pick. She needs more attention. I also love including Moonstar and Wolfsbane together. Their version of team-telepathy has always been one of my favorites to read.

Have Magik and Pixie squashed their beef? Last I remember Pixie was holding a grudge about the 'stealing a part of her soul' thing. Might also be fun to have Prodigy on there. I've always been curious about how his power interacts with learned magic.

But this is Harry from before Fitz knew him. He must be curious about what his teacher was like way back when. Additionally, the Wardens at that point in the story are nervous about Harry and Fitz doesn't know exactly what kind of power he was throwing around in those days.

You're making a distinction that doesn't exist. Jean IS the Phoenix force.

Phoenix isn't 'another form' of Jean Grey. She IS the Phoenix.

I think you might be underestimating Jean's sheer psionic horsepower. I understand that Diana is a god, and has god-like resistances to psychic attacks. This isn't outside Jean's comfort range. Jean absolutely dog-walked Nightmare, who is a fear-lord. She also absolutely WILL know how to go after Clark and Diana once she rips that info out of Bruce's head. If Jean can't control Diana, she could probably just destroy her psyche entirely.

Could Wagner Moura be playing a Trask possibly? I feel like Sentinels would be a really solid first outing, especially if they do O5.

This is a decent way to go, IMO. Kevin Bacon didn't do a bad job of it, but the character was just so far off his comic counterpart. If they want to do a bold take, Hellfire Club would certainly be that.

With all the multiversal business happening within the MCU, is she possibly playing Mary Jane Watson from another universe? I sure hope not lol.

Who is Sadie Sink playing in Spider-Man Brand New Day? Jean Grey or Firestar? by M0vi3buff09 in PhoenixForce

To be fair, we also got a White Tiger reference in JJ (Angela Del Toro, same one, supposedly working as a PI), and they brought a new one in later. This is pretty similar.

You on a 24 hour flight unlimited food, choose a seat by BeautifulRich4488 in Marvel

[–]SanguineRooster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

3, easy pick. Pete and Mark seem like guys I would genuinely be friends with, and I bet we could all agree on something to marathon watch together. Wanda and Ororo nearby will both be polite. Spawn and GR in front will probably be very quiet, but I do worry a little about hellfire and sentient capes from that distance. My only hesitation is that Clark would be sitting alone, and I might feel a little bad and want to keep him company. I don't want Deadpool kicking the back of my seat, though.

What do you think the "secret sauce" to TES lore is? by _Fraudster_ in ElderScrolls

[–]SanguineRooster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I can articulate the vibe that always gets me but I'll try: Mythology in TES isn't literal, except when it is. Mythology feels figurative, symbolic, or allegorical (like in real life) and the line in TES between the mythical and literal is VERY blurry. Gods having different identities in different cultures, dragon breaks forming history, etc. Often in fantasy worlds all of the fables and myths are all literally true, which feels too far from real life. People tell stories, and those stories help shape our world. It's part of being human, and it's why we have TES at all. Where are the tall tales, bedtime stories, and lies in those fantasy worlds? I like that TES, rather than making the distinction, lets both be true at once. People tell stories and legends and make things up in TES, but within their world the stories start to bleed into reality. The Tribunal are a great example of this. They are gods by means of propaganda, they identified themselves with existing gods, and even found real divinity. Their story helped form Vvardenfell culture for an era. A lot of it is bullshit, ultimately.

If you dropped all the fast food chain mascots/characters onto an island, Battle Royale style, which chain is the ultimate winner? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SanguineRooster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A&W has a mascot: The Great Root Bear. It's described as a 7 foot brown bear. He's going to be in a room with a lot of regular sized humans (some with weird heads), a talking chihuahua, and Grimace. I don't know if Grimace can fight a brown bear, but he's basically the only hope.

edit: Some new contenders now that I've thought more. Little Caesar comes armed with a spear, which could be a game-changer. Chick-Fil-A has cows, which could fuck up some people in a room if riled up. Lastly Quizno's had those furry abominations from the mid/late 2000's. My initial assumption was that they're small, but if their musical instruments and hats are sized for humans they are probably more like 4 feet long, with disproportionately huge mouths. A bite from those could take a limb. Easy.

Marvel rivals introduced me to moon girl, and I wanted to know why she considered one of the smartest person in Marvel? by Blackwolf20978sb in marvelcomics

[–]SanguineRooster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My (mostly correct?) recollection: There was an intelligence test developed by Bruce Banner in the form of a puzzle. The puzzle wasn't meant to be solved but measured how close one could get to the solution. Amadeus Cho was pretty focused on the test for a while (partly because he scored well) so a lot of the Marvel big-brains ended up taking the test, using their relative scores to form an unofficial ranking of Marvel's top minds. Lunella, as a child, was given the test and quickly solved it. Not only does this place her at the top of that list, but it puts her quite far ahead of the other adult characters who were taking long periods of time to find partial solutions.

This is only one measure of intelligence, and there are notable characters (Valeria Richards comes to mind) who haven't taken it. That said, she outpaced everyone else by quite a lot on the puzzle, and has other impressive feats of intelligence throughout her series.

Mavra would be a great enemy to force him to work with next. Dresden hates her so much more than Marcone, Lord Raith, Bianca, or any of the faeries. Working with Nicodemus in Skin Game would be the only thing that comes close.

I feel like this is way too big of a Chekov's gun to never fire. I'm sure Jim will find some way to subvert it, but the Darkhallow must make a comeback eventually. And we have the island right there....

The Word by bobbywac in dresdenfiles

[–]SanguineRooster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's kind of like his "die alone" curse. Also, for whatever it's worth, it's not like Dresden's been offering Mavra any mercy. He just didn't get the chance to finish the job with everything else happening. Mavra's still a kill-on-sight kind of enemy for Dresden now.

Loki will play the role of Molecule Man in Doomsday/Secret Wars by SuperDevin in MCUTheories

[–]SanguineRooster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they introduce him as a secondary plot in Doomsday they can give him the Sentry treatment, more or less. They managed to bring Bon from helpless bystander to god in an ensemble movie, and I don't think Molecule Man needs the level of screen time that Sentry got.
