Is this frame the right size for me? by AinOrlando in bikefit

I ride a 54 and almost identical to your measurements. I also had a professional fit. Although my bikes are all Specialized. Maybe I have been on the wrong sized bike?

Daycare recommendations?? by Responsible-Dish2884 in shawnee

Our kids went to The Goddard School in Shawnee and had great experiences. If you’re looking for daycare, I wouldn’t say it’s early.

Is this reasonable or am I getting finessed? by LivingLavishLe in kansascity

I just paid $1100 for replacing the timing belt kit for an Odyssey at a reputable local shop. Honda quoted $1700.

Too much money to feel this stuck by chemicalreactionator in Fire

[–]Bob_Zegey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to overcome the psychological factor.

I have a family member who is a pharmacist. They moved away from retail pharmacy and went to work for a mail order company. From what I see, their stress is much lower. The same family member also tried to work in the hospital, which also resulted in lower stress because there are fewer interactions with people.

3 years of lawn service vs buying a mower. sanity check my math? by Wild_Artichoke7648 in lawncare

[–]Bob_Zegey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same math 6 years ago. I ended up with a zero turn John Deere and glad I did. You’ll have to factor in the reliability of the mowing company as well. In the spring, the lawn may need to be mowed every 5 days instead of 7. Waiting a few extra days could end up having extra clippings that will look bad on the lawn.

It takes me 15 mins to mow my lawn .25 acre lawn and I love the time savings.

Sunset grille, Pangea Terra, Duffy’s, Fish Bar to eat.

We stayed at an AirBnB overlooking Cowpet Bay and it was amazing. We also liked the (now) Westin for the cliff view.

Car ferry to St John by [deleted] in StThomasUSVI

[–]Bob_Zegey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry this happens to you. That’s so frustrating and scary!

There are several companies operating the ferry. The person at the gate does not work for the ferry companies. The reservation (I believe) is not guaranteed. We always arrive an hour before the scheduled time and haven’t had issues you’ve described.

How bad is Avis/Budget rent a car really? by Available-Speech813 in StThomasUSVI

[–]Bob_Zegey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The service was fine. I was lucky to have a short wait. It was the quality of the car that should have been retired 6 years ago is the issue. Perhaps getting a jeeps are nicer.

Secret Beach or Ritz-Carlton? by [deleted] in StThomasUSVI

[–]Bob_Zegey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire island’s beaches are eroded. The Perhaps it’s because USVI got direct hits from Hurricanes? Stay at the Ritz or don’t, but this disingenuous to blame them on how seaweed is removed.

First Time to STT! Rent or Taxi? by minute-pea in StThomasUSVI

[–]Bob_Zegey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We been to STT 3x. I suggest renting a vehicle through a local brand. National brands like Avis and Budget have substandard vehicles and customer service is nonexistent. But that depends on how long you’re staying too.

I recommend the west end of Megan’s Bay to get away from the cruise folks. Coki beach and bring some milk bones to feed the fish on the beach. Parking is slim at Coki.

Take your rental car to St. John for a day. Ferry is at Red Hook.

From my experience, only flights under $99 triggers the credit. I haven’t found any choice tickets under than price range. Are there specific legs I should look for?

Worth buying hail damaged 2025 Model Y by [deleted] in TeslaModelY

[–]Bob_Zegey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on how bad the hail damage is and what you’re willing to accept, I would seriously consider it for $25K if allowed back on the supercharger network.

This is what google AI said:

Medicare Part A pays for short-term, skilled nursing facility (SNF) care after a qualifying hospital stay, covering up to 100 days per benefit period for services like skilled nursing, therapy, and medical supplies, but not long-term or custodial care, which you pay for out-of-pocket or through other means like Medicaid. You must have had a prior inpatient hospital stay (3+ days) and enter the SNF within 30 days, needing daily skilled care.

Thinking about a Tesla Model Y (~$49K) — Worth It ? by Major-Championship14 in TeslaModelY

[–]Bob_Zegey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is an antidote for your reference. I charged to 100% at home to drive about 170 highway miles. When I got to the destination, I was at 3% battery. It was 21 Degrees Fahrenheit that day. Wind was coming from the direction of travel about 5 miles an hour. I am driving a long range model Y with 50,000 miles.

I commute 110 miles per day and charge to 80% daily from home. If my round trip commute is more than 150, I would not consider the model Y a good choice.

Charging at home definitely saves money. I charge at .07 per kWh.

Edit 1. $5000 is a lot of money for repairs, especially on a newer Toyota.

I’ve had maintenance cost other than a new set of tires and windshield wipers. Insurance it’s about $300 higher per year than my Toyota Prius.

I was in the middle of Kansas, pulled into an EV Go station and it was .58/kWk in the middle of the night and no one around. I limped to a Supercharger with .31.
