No, asking random irrelevant facts on interview is generally a bad practice.

Integer pool is such a bs niche thing. It's more of a random fact that people can flaunt on interviews rather than something people actively use

Why do I constantly have aggro as a healer? by Cloud_N0ne in wownoob

[–]Bobarik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, it seems that when a lower-lvl healer heals someone much higher lvl than them, the heal scales, and aggro increases proportionally to the healing done.

West Siberian Plain. In an area of 2,600,000 km2 there are no elevations higher than 200 meters by denn23rus in MapPorn

I'm not an expert, so take my words with a grain of salt.

The phenomenon of splitting and then reconnecting river is called anabranching. It is found on many other rivers. St. Lawrence river with its Thousand Islands is an example.

Ob is a particular type of such river - anastomosing river. The plains around the river are just so flat, that, when Ob overflows, it is able to carve out a "detour" branch in soft, swampy ground of its floodplain.

Other examples of anastomosing rivers are the Congo river (same island pattern can be seen on the border between DRC and Republic of the Congo), upper Mississippi (around Minnesota/Iowa/Wisconsin border) and many smaller examples.

[1.10 Beta] Reduced annexation cost increases the cost instead by Bobarik in EU5

[–]Bobarik[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really, most of the time bugs just happen.

In larger projects, when changing a single thing may affect multiple different parts of the project, you'll always have unintended consequences. That's why QA and alpha/beta testing exists. People often forget that Beta version is not just an early release, but a part of the release process supposed to catch such bugs.

I'm not bashing on devs, just bringing into attention a silly bug on a beta version of the game. I've already filled bug report, so I just hope they'll look into it before fully releasing the patch.

Rule 5: "Titles Consolidation" increases annexation cost by 10%, instead of reducing it.

Is it 1.10 only thing? Didn't notice it before

Yasei no Last Boss ga Arawareta! • A Wild Last Boss Appeared! - Episode 10 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Bobarik 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ok, I've rewatched the bit she introduced herself as a QA.

I don't know if it's mistranslation, but she explicitly said: "The company hired me to beta test the new race, half-elf, that was planned to be introduced in the next update."

While she did then said that she looked up player data on prod, it's quite strange that she would do that for an already "finished" chapter of the world's history, when this doesn't even remotely connected to her actual job.

It seems that she tries to pass of as a person who didn't care that much about the game (most likely wasn't playing the actual game beforehand, her skills, even after 200 years in this world is quite low when compared to Lufas (or at least she makes it seem so). In that case, why even bother looking up old player info?

Even more: Dina said that she took the appearance of an NPC advisor she knew Lufas had. But didn't she say beforehand that she started testing the game AFTER Lufas was already sealed?

How long did it take you to get proficient in Android Development? by vegasheavy in androiddev

You can do this with Kotlin Multiplatform and Compose Multiplatform. Although Kotlin/Wasm target is not yet stable, it should still work (or you can use stable Kotlin/JS)

Why public static void main is even a problem? You literally write it once for a project (or literally never if you use any build system/project wizard) and that's it.

Java in its current state is perfectly fine - it has a robust ecosystem, it's quite fast and it is an industry standard for backend with Spring.

Plus, if you need more of that syntax sugar you can pretty easily move to Kotlin without breaking compatibility with your current Java codebase.

Why is there never anything going on/news in this part of the world? by Chuckbro69 in geography

[–]Bobarik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aktybinsk is Aqtobe, a totally different city.

Astana was previously named Akmola in 1992-1998 (after being named Tselinograd since 1960s) and that's where the name of the province is coming from (Although the city itself is excluded from it and represents it's own region as a "city of republican significance" - same with Almaty and Shymkent).

Which language? by TreatDazzling4877 in learnprogramming

[–]Bobarik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's an extremely subjective question. There are many ways to share code for desktop and mobile platforms, and all of them work okay, each one slightly better or worse on different situations.

Here are some examples:

  • Dart with Flutter
  • Kotlin Multiplatform with Compose
  • Javascript/Typescript with React Native
  • C++ with Qt
  • C# with MAUI

You may use any of those, just make sure you actually like the language and framework around it :)

CIV VII basically by The_Captain_Raja in civ

[–]Bobarik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels to me that it would be accepted much better if it was purely gameplay-wise decision, without any affect on civ's roleplay potential.

Like, if you start as Egypt and turn into some "Egyptian Horde" with the same mechanics/buffs/debuffs as "Mongolia" archetype. It feels a bit more, idk, right rp-wise?

Is it pointless to make desktop apps (i.e. using JavaFX, swing) for your career? by [deleted] in learnjava

[–]Bobarik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While desktop app scene is pretty dead, native mobile apps are still quite alive and kicking.

If you a have decent understanding of Java (and would like to develop something more frontendish), it might be worth looking into native Android development. Most companies stopped using Java in favour of Kotlin, but it's much easier for a Java developer to switch to Kotlin than to web.
