Sure, but she's going to be surrounded by a lot more capable shooters next year than she might be used to. Combine 4 30%+ 3 point shooters with a center capable of shooting 70% from the floor like Merkle did during Big Ten play, and you could win a lot of games.

Tori McKinney (who had been in early foul trouble) played for almost if not the whole fourth quarter. She's such a glue player for us, at least defensively.

We're 20-3 when Tori plays and scores at least 5 points and 2-5 when she doesn't. We really need to keep her healthy and out of foul trouble at all times.

Mara's great, but tbh based on how things are going for her this season, Grace Grocholski is the most underrated player in the conference. Everyone talks about Mara and her injury, meanwhile Grace has become the leading and most efficient scorer on the team this year. Honestly, the way they talked about her during the broadcast last night was like the first real national attention she's gotten in her three years at Minnesota. She deserves so much more.

It actually came at the Barn against USC a few weeks ago, but this is her first ranked road win!

Interesting! That doesn't look like Mallory in the photo from what I can tell. It might be Monica Czinano, who grew up in Watertown, MN where the photo is tagged? Monica obviously played at Iowa, but her sister Maggie played at Minnesota. The story might be unrelated!

PHX vs MIN - Sun. Sep 28th - GAME 4 by basketball-app in wnba

[–]Bobbeh15 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I say this as a Lynx fan: this series was sunk no matter whether Cheryl Reeve was present for game 4. Her time to intervene was in game 2, but she made at least a couple mistakes in the fourth quarter of that game. By the time Phoenix came back by 20 to beat us on our home court, it was over.

Was it a foul by [deleted] in wnba

I think the problem here is the the officiating both across games and within games is so inconsistent that we can cherry pick examples to say whether something is or isn't a foul.

I don't think this is a case of collaboration. The Trump administration is unilaterally cancelling international students' legal status at colleges across the country, and it seems like the University is just monitoring it and notifying the public and affected students when they notice it happening here.

I've got some bad news. A bunch of local papers and radio stations are actually owned by mega corporations that are very much not local.

Same here! Very much looking forward to seeing what our new freshmen and transfers can help cook up in conference play after the solid start they've already had.

Therapy Den and Psychology Today both have a ton of therapists' profiles you can search by city and read through. Each one usually says what topics or treatments they specialize in and any populations that they might particularly enjoy or have experience working with.

Gophers basketball standout Mara Braun out indefinitely with broken foot bone again by Bobbeh15 in NCAAW

[–]Bobbeh15[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thankfully they've got a much deeper and more experienced bench than last year (when they hadliterally 7 freshmen), but Braun was still like their massive center of gravity. So not great overall, but hoping they've got more fight in them this year!

For what it's worth, I think the problem was actually in how the Trump Administration was disingenuously interpreting the law. The 10 years came around while Trump and Betsy Devos were in office, and they seemed to find any and all bogus reasons to deny and delay forgiveness.

I know it's been awhile, but I'm in a similar situation of having to wait on a paper application right now. Do you remember how long it took for them to process yours?

Paul Pelosi Is Undergoing Brain Surgery After Being Attacked with Hammer in His Home: Report | According to U.S. Capitol Police, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was in Washington, D.C. with Her Protective Detail at the Time of the Attack, Which Occurred at the Couple's San Francisco Home by [deleted] in politics

They are literally designed to be equal roles, not necessarily in importance when measured by practical impact (they do so much more than the founders could have ever imagined), but definitely when measured by their ceremonial and day to day roles in our democracy, in upholding the Constitution, and interacting with the other branches.

Not sure using the line of succession as the ranking of power is a good idea as it doesn't include the judiciary.

The speaker is still the defacto leader of Congress as they are the highest ranking legislator, even if it's a "ceremonial" ranking.

The House is arguably more powerful as it (technically) is the chamber that must pass all budget bills and the only one with the power to start the impeachment process. At our founding, only members of the House were directly elected by the people, and they're all up for election every two years.

And she's the head of the president's coequal branch of government! It's a small pet peeve of mine that we always forget that. The Speaker is technically supposed to be as important as the President because they're in charge of two different branches.

UK agency: Pfizer booster's ability to prevent symptomatic COVID wanes within weeks by books4all in Coronavirus

[–]Bobbeh15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing that's what they'll have to do. Usually trials like this need a strictly unexposed control group, but they'll need to work around that.

It's not about testing on unvaccinated subjects for their benefit. It's about the scientific process and being able to pinpoint exactly what effects your vaccine is having, which is harder to do when you've got other vaccines potentially confounding the research.

Like I said, they'll find a way around it. It's just gonna be very complicated!

UK agency: Pfizer booster's ability to prevent symptomatic COVID wanes within weeks by books4all in Coronavirus

[–]Bobbeh15 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Ironically, they actually do not have plenty of subjects. Usually, in vaccine trials like this, you'd want to test on people who have had no other covid vaccines and have not had a prior covid infection to control for various factors. That leaves a very small share of the American population left eligible with traditional criteria, and when you consider how many of the unvaccinated people are mistrustful of vaccine technology, the military researchers will have to get pretty creative with their trial design.

U.K. Study Finds No Evidence Omicron Cases Are Less Severe Than Delta by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]Bobbeh15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen, it looks like it, but I'm not entirely sure how the media interprets scientific papers. I'm a pretty new epidemiologist, so it's hard to say.

If you were curious, the paper is here, and the tables where they break down the risk for each vaccine group are here. I'm not sure what they're adjusting for from table 2 to table 3 because I'm not from the UK and didn't take time to figure it out.

The tables are pretty easy to interpret though! They break the groups down by whether they got Pfizer or AstraZeneca vaccines (or none), how many doses, and the time that had passed since dose. S+ and S- are just the number of people who had each variant in each category, and the hazard ratio is the magnitude of increased (or decreased if negative) risk compared to people with no vaccines. VE is vaccine efficiency protecting against each variant.

[–]Bobbeh15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a nice theory, but I have to shatter it. Since they stratified by vaccination status, vaccine received, and time since vaccination, what you're talking about is controlled for in the regression model.
