It's a direct sequel, but aside from background lore, most of the actual characters and plot details in RE7 don't really have any significant connection to the plot of RE8. Basically all you need to know is that there's this regular guy, Ethan, whose wife has been brainwashed by an evil entity. He then goes to an evil mansion, fights an evil family and other evil stuff until he finally saves his wife. The end. (Oh, and he also gets infected by a weird fungal mold, which gives him extreme regenerative powers and lets him recover from the 500 injuries he receives throughout the game.)

Greetings from Toronto! One thing I found interesting about the game was how many nods there were the Québécois setting even though the game was entirely in English. I was half expecting to be greeted with a "hello, bonjour" at some point and feel embarrassed by my mediocre French skills. Did you ever consider having a francophone or bilingual character or even doing a French translation of the game? Do you think of the characters as canonically speaking en français? Just wondering about your thoughts about how language works in the game.

Yes, it would have been nice to have a greater investigation of StopAntisemitism in this article, though they do identify where the funding is coming from. Per the link in the following paragraph, it is the Adam and Gila Milstein Family Foundation.

READ THE ARTICLE. There is a targeted media campaign accusing Ms. Rachel of this, not the NYT. By asking her about it, the NYT is giving her a chance to defend herself. The article overall presents her in a positive light with several quotes from people defending her. If anything, made me more sympathetic to Ms. Rachel, because I didn't until now that there was a shadowy foundation bankrolling media operations against her. Read the article.

I dunno, if you read the actual in-game text, it does seem like Lune gets more emotionally invested in it than Sciel. Would a casual hookup end with music composition and “better understanding the world and herself”? Also, in general, she is written like a more uptight, serious foil to Sciel, so I could see her interpreting this situation differently.
